  1. Meh, not really. Players make decisions for all kinds of reasons, and Columbus is a heck of a lot closer than Calgary, and he would often be traveling in division to PHI, NJ, NYI, NYR.
  2. I feel like his trade value in a vacuum isn’t much more than a late 2nd anyway. Maybe an early 2nd at best?
  3. Comrie is a good vibes child. He’s got to go where the wings are hot, the cheese is blue, and the vibes are fine.
  4. Chevy’s chasing good vibes too. Ride the vibes baby! Within a few years every GM in the league will be using this line whenever they need to move on from a player or whenever it seems they didn’t address their roster needs as well as they could have. KA is a genius.
  5. Do you not do jokes?
  6. Clague and Fitzgerald are probably the 7th 8th defensemen.
  7. Husso vs Comrie Comrie has 19 games of good NHL play Husso has 40 games of good NHL play Its not that big a difference. Husso is not significantly more proven than Comrie.
  8. I wouldn’t sell this guy too short. I think he has a shot to be a decent starter. He was a 2nd round pick and well regarded prospect who has been brought along slowly. Winnipeg never had a reason to rush him because they had Hellybuck. He has had gradually improving performance in the AHL. He broke into the NHL and played well as a backup last season at age 26. That’s not old for a goalie. I could see a Comrie/Anderson platoon with some UPL sprinkled in being pretty good.
  9. This is alright. He could provide decent starter level play. Track record is lacking a bit but he was a well regarded prospect who seems to have taken some time to round into form, as young goalies often do. He is going to be splitting time with Anderson and UPL.
  10. I like this signing. He isn’t a star by any means, but he checks a lot of boxes. RHD - check Physical/Defensive D - check Russian NHLer for baby Ruskies - check Seems he could reasonably be paired with either Power or Bryson in the bottom 4. Can be a primary PKer with Samuelsson.
  11. 18-19 was rookie season, he was probably just breaking in, 19-20 was a 70 game season, 20-21 was a 56 game season and he actually played a few games in the KHL too. Obviously doesn’t explain everything but his games missed are less extreme than if those were full seasons.
  12. Ok maybe, but Monica Seles is one of the better female tennis players of all time. She made $15M in prize money alone, with unknown additional income from advertising. I get that Golisano has more money than that, but how much could that really improve her life? Not more than being married to someone you don’t like would make it worse, IMPO.
  13. Why are we posting Evander Kane free agent updates in a thread about Patrick Kane?
  14. I’m not convinced that helping philly sign 29 year old Gadreau to a huge money 7 year contract is actually helping them. Getting a 1st from PHI for taking JVR, then getting another 1st for him at the deadline could be a sweet, and not wholly unrealistic, result.
  15. Ilya Samsonov has substance abuse issues? Can you provide details?
  16. Interesting. I’m just kind of shocked that no one thinks a former #3 overall pick, big playmaking center who has produced at a 50+ point pace 3 of the past 4 seasons isn’t worth $3.6M. Doesn’t make much sense to me. Kubalik is still surprising but more understandable. Im very interested to see what these guys sign for. If they sign for more than their QO, does that mean that Chicago messed up?
  17. Could have let them get whatever in arbitration, give them top 6 and PP mins, hope they do well, and try to trade them at the deadline again. Its pretty rare that a team let’s players as good as Kubalik, let alone Strome, walk without giving them a qualifying offer. This is not normal.
  18. Good goalie for Rochester. PK signing incoming in a day or 2.
  19. If they didn’t want to pay them, fine. I just find it hard to believe that no other NHL GM would have been willing to trade something for them. I find I hard to believe that their best option was to let them walk for nothing. These guys were not UFAs, they were under team control.
  20. I haven’t seen any evidence that Chicago is primarily interested in getting good value for their roster pieces. They are letting Strome and Kubalik walk for nothing.
  21. Good to hear. I was concerned that things were getting weird.
  22. Injuries are one thing. I agree, I’m not sure he can be trusted to stay healthy. However, when he is on the ice, the performance has been there. I’m not sure how you can say otherwise. 21-22 he paced for 40 goals, 84 points. 19-20 he paced for 37 and 110. Is that not good enough?
  23. Sounds like BS to me. No way that a group of people sat in a room for 45 minutes waiting for someone to speak up.
  24. Hmm. I’d be ok with this. If he is judged to be a personality fit, take him for free basically and trade him near the deadline for a 1st round pick or whatever. Cap hit is 7, but he will only be due 4M in actual salary.
