  1. I think this would actually be pretty easy for the goalie to stop. We’ve seen players try this in all star game shootouts and it doesn’t seem terribly effective.
  2. First of all, no, he isn’t going to do that. Secondly, why do you think the bolded.
  3. Winnipeg and Minnesota also are in same boat.
  4. I don’t think he is bad. He has been bad so far this season. I still think he will be an NHL 3rd/4th liner for the next several years, even if it’s not in Buffalo.
  5. I don’t know what exactly November holds for Buffalo. The schedule looks a little rough and they haven’t been quite as good the past few games, so I would predict around a .500 record. I do know that this is almost definitely the best Sabres team I’ve seen since 2012-13 and possibly even since 2006-07. One thing about this team that has given me some confidence is their resilience. In games they are trailing, they do not go away quietly, and after losses they bounce back instead of sinking deeper and deeper into suckyness. It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen that from the Sabres.
  6. I’ve felt for some time that Dahlin will sign a deal that matches Eichel’s. It just feels right. Enough to acknowledge the player he is and his vast potential, while at the same time not “showing up” the team captain. Just a gut feeling.
  7. A good forecheck is something that just about any team has trouble with. I agree that Buffalo needs to improve against an aggressive forecheck, but they also worlds better against the forecheck than any time in the past several years. I think they are on the right track and regularly beating the opponents forecheck with quality passes and dmen skating the puck up ice.
  8. I would say this is just part of his rehab. Ease him back into playing full games against lower level competition on a team whose results don’t really matter. He may play one game, then have a week off, play one game, then 4-5 days off, etc etc, working his way up to where he feels ok playing 2 games in 3 days. When he feels back up to full speed, he’ll be in Rochester.
  9. I think the answer to this may just be that Cam Ward and Scott Darling are terrible. That’s what Bales had to work with in 17-18. Neither one is in the NHL any longer.
  10. Bogo wasn’t a bad hockey player, when healthy. It’s been so long since I’ve seen him really healthy though that I don’t even know what that looks like anymore. He is big, physical, and a really good skater. He has a hard shot and can make the simple pass. He also somewhat mistake prone. All in all he is a guy you can use in your bottom 4 and PK. Or he was at least.
  11. Not saying he wouldn’t still be a fit for Buffalo. I think he could be.
  12. Yeah, modern goaltending coaches not only work with goaltenders on technique, but also with coordination between goalies and D on how to play specific situations so goalies will know what the D will do, helping them know how to best position themselves.
  13. Mike Bales. Yeah, I think he is good.
  14. Probably, but you never know for sure how things like this will turn out.
  15. Sounds like Thompson or Cozens longer term, but maybe they pick someone up to fill that hole near the trade deadline.
  16. Sooo, I see some people being kind of negative about the team after last nights game. As if the clouds of gloom and inevitable failure are sweeping overhead. I just want to point out a few things. That was their 6th game in 10 days. 5 of those 6 were on the road. 3 of those 5 were on a west coast road trip. Also it was the 2nd of back to back road games. Situations like this can help to result in uneven play. Especially for this team, which is not some powerhouse stacked with top talent, despite the early season results. Few even thought this was a playoff team before the season started. A couple games ago, after beating San Jose at home everything was hunky dorrey, and now the sky is falling? After a 2-0 win no less? Its going to be ok everyone. Deep breaths. This team isn’t going to win 65 games, they never were, but they still have a high chance of making the playoffs.
  17. They came out slow in the 1st, but were better after that. The schedule has been tough lately.
  18. I think the book on Buffalo right now is to forecheck them hard and see if they can handle it and still execute the breakout. They’ve had a hard time with aggressive forechecks so far this season it seems.
  19. Sabres passing has been an issue the past couple games.
  20. Sheary with a unique cute move. Looked like it almost worked.
