  1. Yeah, it’s not the end of the world, it’s just one more thing. I think he had a good chance of being a consistent NHLer and wasn’t given a real chance. If he had been consistently getting an NHL paycheck and chartered flights as opposed to AHL checks and bus rides, I bet he wouldn’t be going to the KHL now. Anything from him would have been found money because Buffalo got him for nothing, but they weren’t able to get anything out of him at the NHL level. Missed opportunity is how I see it.
  2. If there had not been 11 other NHL D on the team, maybe Pilut could have gotten a prolonged try in the NHL and he would not have felt like he had to go to the KHL.
  3. What a waste on the part of Buffalo.
  4. That sucks, and may partially explain his inability to stop a hockey puck. However, I would think his case was relatively mild and the sort of thing that a “normal” person might hardly notice. Eye movement exercises and puck tracking exercises are things that pro goalies work on all the time. It honestly may just be a part of his aging and I’m not particularly hopeful that he will improve it, but who knows.
  5. First bolded: I don’t think there needs to be major work done on the bottom-6. Buffalo has a lot of pretty good bottom-6 options. Okposo and Lazar will be there. Larsson and Girgs if they return. Cozens and Thompson will be there. Simmonds and Vesey could also return, and Asplund and Mittelstadt are options, but I don’t think any of them are good exactly. The real issue is that not all of Johansson, Kahun, and Olofsson should be in the top-6. Ideally, you want them on the 3rd line or as the 3rd best forward on a top-6 line. They are played too high in the lineup because there is no one else. This brings me to your 2nd bolded. Second Bolded: Absolutely! The lack of quality top-6 players, and especially a quality 2C have really crippled this team. It is their defining weakness. Adding Sean Monahan, for example, would change everything. It would allow some of Olofsson, Johansson, Kahun, to move down to the 3rd line, possibly playing beside Cozens, and maybe creating 3 lines that could actually score. Unimaginable, I know. Third Bolded:. Askarov seems good and all, but even he would probably be 3+ years out from real NHL action. I don’t think Buffalo needs a goalie for 2023-24 They need a slight goaltending upgrade right now, and they need high end forward talent. With a top a top-10 pick in this draft, they could add a forward who helps the NHL team in 2021-22
  6. So basically you think that this is the end of the United States of America as a free democratic nation. Our country is soon going to become a totalitarian military police state under Trump. Is that it?
  7. How would you explain this to someone who has no idea what you are talking about? LE??? Boogaloo???
  8. Could you be more specific about what you think is going on and/or will go in the coming months? You peaked my interest.
  9. The answer is obviously “safer“. No PPE is going to keep a person 100% safe, especially not cloth masks. It will help reduce the amount of virus that gets coughed/sneezed/breathed out into the air though, helping to keep people at least a little bit safer. Really though, you are kind of missing the point if this is what you are focusing on. The point of covering your face is not to keep everyone 100% safe or to make everyone feel safer. It was/is to prevent a large mass of people all coming down with Covid-19 symptoms requiring hospitalization at the same time, exceeding available hospital resources, overwhelmingly the health care system, and cause many deaths due to unavailability of care.
  10. Ah, there we go. That may be the reason. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if I was wrong, but it would surprise me that Brawndo agreed with me when I was wrong, haha.
  11. Interesting. I can’t understand why Cap Friendly lists his Waivers Signing Age as 20. It should be 19 as far as I can tell. Which would make it 4 years of waiver exemption instead of the 3 listed by Cap Friendly. I think this may be the rare case of an error on Cap Friendly. I’m not 100% though.
  12. Certainly a majority, along with his assisrants. The team would seem to have the talent for an above average PP (Eichel, Dahlin, Olofsson, Reinhart, Risto) and PK near average. As opposed to 20th in PP and 30th in PK.
  13. This is the chart for determining waiver exemption. Tage signed his ELC at 19, so he needs to have surpass either 4 NHL season or 160 NHL games before his waiver exemption goes away. He has not reached either of those thresholds. Anyone can correct me if I’m wrong here. Here is the link to the full article: https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-waiver-rules/
  14. Also, for every one star player, there are 100 pluggers, so odds of some becoming a good HC are 100 to 1 in favor of the pluggers.
  15. Simmonds is RW, no? If these are the players I was given, and Kahun had to be 2C, I’d probably go. Skinner-Ike-Reino (these guys used to be ok) Vesey-Kahun-Johansson (this line was good if I remember right) Olofsson-Cozens-Simmonds Lazar-Larsson-Okposo With the bottom 6 getting equal ice time. Thompson and Mitts start in Roch. I thought Thompson was still waiver exempt because of # of games played or something?
  16. People keep saying that maybe he would, and you never know I guess. Maybe he loves Buffalo enough to make it a long distance relationship with his wife for 6-7 months, but I don’t see it. His life is there and he wants to stay there. He has made that quite clear.
  17. 1) Ryan Miller almost certainly isn’t coming back. He wants to be in So. Cal. 2) UPL probably shouldn’t spend any real time in the NHL next season. He hasn’t looked ready. 3) Sabres are going to have Ullmark, Miller, AND UPL on the roster? In addition to Hutton, who I am assuming would be waived or something?
  18. Her very early life certainly is a crazy story. I just can’t help but struggle to get over there being a certain yuck factor to the Pegulas though. New college graduate waitress meets divorced business man in restaurant and he offers her a job at his company. They begin a relationship and eventually marry at ages 24 and 42. Company owner hires and begins relationship with employee 18 years his junior. Big creepy yuck! To tie it in with the OP, it really seems like Terry was hiring employees with his fly down as opposed to Inky firing employees with his fly down! I’m sure they love each other very much and everything, but like I said, I just have a hard time getting past it.
  19. You would ideally still like to get something in return for a young promising D, even if he wasn’t in the Sabres long term plans for whatever reason. Losing players for nothing is not the optimal way of clearing up a logjam of talent.
  20. Nonsense. Spending money does not automatically equate to adding the necessary talent. There are good ways and bad ways to spend money.
  21. Unfortunately, I don’t think that is what the Pegulas want. They seem to want to be intimately involved in the day to day stuff.
  22. Yeah, sure, but Krueger hasn’t shown that he can identify assistants who are good with X’s and O’s. I don’t think they were very good last season, and apparently everyone is coming back.
  23. I like Ralph and I think he is a born leader and manager. I’m not sold on him being anything more than a slightly below average NHL Head Coach though. He didn’t show anything impressive this season. He can motivate but I don’t have confidence in his X’s and O’s.
  24. Risto now wants to be a part of things? That’s not really what I got from Risto’s quotes.
  25. Wasn’t Risto’s locker clean out interview last year almost exactly the same? I can not believe that this guy is still on the team.
