Impact player? Not positive what that is, but probably not. I think he will probably fine in a limited role though, similar to what Kirby Dach did last season. We’ll know more after seeing him in a few games.

Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Curt replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
I do complement Congress for getting back to work this evening and finishing this thing, instead of doing it tomorrow or something. It sends a message if nothing else. My immediate question going forward is, will Trump be removed from office in the next couple days? I think they could, and actually have bi-partisan support. On the one hand, it just gives him one more perceived injustice against him to rail and riot about. On the other hand, he is a traitorous megalomaniacal psychopath who is wholly unfit for office. -
So, Burke said the players who are nhl ready from the tournament are, in order Byram, Lundell, Hienola, Podkolzin. That’s it. Then Zegras and Cozens were next. He didn’t really go into details.

Those poor souls. Imaging working somewhere 7 years, with that amount of success.

Listen. At this point, I don’t understand how anyone could support that living dumpster. They are misguided at best and truly frightening at worst. However...... I don’t know the situation of what happened to that woman, but she made a decision to be there, doing whatever she was doing, and whoever pulled the trigger made a decision too. Those parties are the ones who are personally responsible. I think you are going a bit heavy on this rhetoric that anyone who ever said anything positive about Trump, or who wanted to wait and see if any election fraud was actually uncovered, now has blood on their hands and bare personal responsibility for a death today. Just think about it. I’m not going to say another word on the topic. -

Ok. Maybe it was. If you want to call it a coup attempt, then it was a directionless, planless, hopelessly incompetent coup attempt. I would call it a riot incited by Trump. -
Seems like there was never any real discussion between him and the Sabres. I think he was just over it. Didn’t someone here say that Larsson hated his extremely heavy defensive useage? I don’t remember who. Maybe he didn’t want to come back for another go round of that.

I wonder what legislators (including GOPs who supported/enabled Trump) who had to go hide under desks today are thinking about as they go home this evening. -
I don’t think it was the Sabres choice. It seemed like Larson wanted out. Maybe they don’t want to use a line as much defensively as they did last season. That was extreme. There isn’t anything wrong with a line that can still be pretty good defensively, and produce a little more offense too. I really don’t think we will see that much of Sheahan. I have a hard time projecting that when he doesn’t even have a contract. I don’t know. Ralph switched around lines quite a bit last season. At least 2 of them.

I disagree and also agree. Everyone and everything in the universe is doomed, it’s just a question of when, not if. Also, today was step in the wrong direction for this country. However, I don’t feel that this country is doomed in the near future. It can get better. -
He scored 12, non-PP, goals last season, 4th on the team. Would have been 5th if Olofsson stayed healthy. He did this while getting the most difficult, defensively tilted usage in the entire league. He was good. Lazar/Reider/whoever is very unlikely to be an upgrade.
-
My ideal realistic lines are something like: Hall-Eichel-Olofsson, 17 ES mins, neutral usage, 1st scoring line Skinner-Staal-Reinhart, 17 ES mins, neutral usage, 2nd scoring line Reider/Lazar-Eakin-Okposo, 11 ES mins, slight defensive usage, responsible bottom 6 line 3 of (Cozens, Thompson, Mittelstadt, Routsalainen, maybe with a guy like Reider/Lazar/Okposo mixed in), 11 ES mins, slight sheltered usage, young offensive bottom 6 line
-
That may be possible, to create 3 real scoring lines, but that’s not what’s been happening. Looks like they are going to stack the top 2 lines instead, and just kind of figure out the bottom 2. So I expect to see the top 6 get heavy mins, and the bottom 6 get significantly less. Probably with lines 1/2 and 3/4 getting similar ice time to each other.

It wasn’t actually a coup, or coup attempt. They had no plan or avenue to actually keep Trump in office. They just broke in to yell, wave flags around, and take selfies as far as I can tell. Agree with the bolded though. -
I don’t get this hard distinction you are trying draw between a 3rd and 4th line. Ralph has not deployed his players like that. It seems like the two bottom 6 lines will get similar ice time this season. Last season the top line got heavy mins, and the other 3 lines got almost the same ice time for most of the season. This season, it looks like the top 2 lines will get a lot of mind, and the bottom 2 lines will get less, but similar mins.

The person who was shot, I don’t believe was by law enforcement. Yeah, I get what you are saying, and I know it’s an extreme case by case basis, and also I wasn’t there. The answer is probably as simple as they didn’t want a gunfight with a bunch of government elected officials right there. -
It would be great if some combination of Cozens, Thompson, Olofsson, Mittelstadt, Routsalainen were able to form a competent bottom 6 scoring line. It wouldn’t necessarily need to get more mins than the other bottom 6 line. The mins difference between the top two and bottom two lines will likely be large. It would be really beneficial if the Sabres were able to ice 3 competent scoring lines.

I feel crazy for saying so, but why hasn’t SS just started shooting? This is an embarrassment and it feels like the end of something important. -
That wasn’t my reading. Honestly, I read that and didn’t take anything in particular away from it.

I’ll just add because it’s interesting, French-Canadien American here. My family is from extreme upstate NY, literally right on the Canadian border. Most people there have French Canadian ancestry. My grandfather spoke only French in the home as a child. My sister took a DNA test and it came back about 95 percent French-Canadian, which is kinda boring, but it was interesting because it was able to go into specifics about what area of France our ancestors immigrated from, where they immigrated to, when they likely immigrated. French Canadian is different from French as a language, a culture, and genetic makeup. Most of the immigrants were from north-western France. Few from the south or east. The passage of time has formed the Quebec culture into its own separate thing. I wouldn’t call it an ethnicity, but I would say the cultures of Quebec and France are different.
-
I don’t think it’s an ethnicity at all. It’s a culture probably. A language definitely. The classic French Canadian person has ancestry of immigrants from northern/western France.

What would reply to someone who points out all of the other important games where Cozens has performed well? Framing this game as the first real challenge that Cozens has faced is laughable. Perhaps you are putting way too much emphasis on one game? I think those would be relevant things to consider.
-
Lol. It was kind of a joke. I was making it out like that small grammar error was the most relevant thing in his post. Because the idea that Cozens had one kinda bad game in an otherwise dominate tournament, after a dominant WHL season, after a really good WJC tournament last season where he was really good in the gold metal game, that means he definitely isn’t ready for the NHL. It’s absolutely absurd.
