  1. I can not find the words that properly describe the deep sadness I am feeling right now.

Yeah, let's throw Pat Kane under the bus, but when it happens to one of our own let's try to ignore it. Funny how some people's values are second to their favorite hockey team. Let's be loyal to some guy we don't know that got traded here a few months ago because he's good at hockey.

And call posters who don't like him racist.

Your opinion I care about least.

Does Evander have the same history at Patrick?

  2.

Fair enough. I'm not ecstatic about Shady's contract.

In what was basically a playoff game (do or die for the division) last night Kirk Cousins had a huge game. 31 for 46 for 365 yards, 4 TDs and no INTs. One epic brain fart, too.

    Also:

Discussed #Bills GM situation on @NFLGameDay: I'm told Doug Whaley is on very solid ground. Better chance he gets an extension than fired.

The #Bills look at the improvements GM Doug Whaley has made in his tenure & Rex Ryan works well with him. The Pegulas are fans, too.

If this is the case, that's fine. I'm actually of the mind, now, that Whaley should NOT be fired or removed after this season. The timing doesn't really make any sense. Whaley has done a lot of good. HOWEVER, an extension would be a mistake. I think they need to go into next season knowing that it's playoffs or best for the entire coaching staff and front office. Keep Whaley around with Rex and give them one more offseason to figure it out.

I like Whaley's aggressiveness. He get's stuff done. The results of his moves can be debated, it can't be taken away that he is out there in the mix trying to make things happen.

SO then where are all the rumors coming from that there is friction between Rex and Doug?

Likely a third party with an agenda which is where most rumors come from.

  3. Stopped for lunch at the Allen St. Poutine Company, it was very good.  For dinner we went to the Scotch and Sirloin on Maple. The food was good, maybe a little pricey. The problem was that my wife and I were the only couple there under 70 and without a coupon. A late 70's - early 80's decor, if they kept the food but had one of those restaurant makeovers it could be a really nice place.

  4. This is a joke, right? Kiko has been dreadful for the Eagles. McCoy has been very good here.

I'll agree with "good" for the Bills, not sure about "very good." I say that with zero interest in Kiko Alonso.

I do have concerns about the future of the Bills at running-back. I don't see Karlos Williams having a long career and McCoy is at that point where he is heading towards the downside. I would feel a great deal better if Williams didn't have the concussion/health issues.

  5. There is a hell of a lot of value in building confidence.

And they could knock the Jets out of the playoffs next week, too.

Which means nothing. There is so much turnover in the NFL it just doesn't carryover. No one is going to remember what happened over these last few games. 6-10 does more for the Bills than 8-8 does.

  6. I still want to know how Finn with the light saber didn't cut right through that other storm troopers electric stick thing.

Why do Storm Troopers wear the armor, it doesn't protect them. All it seems to accomplish is to hinder their ability to move and shoot.

Overall the movie was a huge disappointment. I wish they had spent less time designing the different Trooper uniforms and actually come up with an original story. Seriously, a Death Star Planet?  R2D2 with more hidden plans? How much memory does that out of date unit have? How is a young scavenger girl able to kick the ass of the big bad without any training? She suddenly knows how to block out others from entering her mind. Half way through the movie I started referring to Ren as Darth Sucks. He has to be the worst Dark Side apprentice in all the movies, including Darth Maul who lasted about a total of 5 minutes. In the end this was like watching those Brady Bunch reunion movies from the eighties.

I'll be waiting for the next two movies to hit HBO, George Lucas gets no more of my money.

  7. What if Darcy had been fired first and GMTM came in.  Assume Lindy guides us through the tank and we get Reinhart and Eichel.  Do you think we would being coming into the same kind of success that Lindy's seeing in Dallas?

The move that has the Dallas Stars at the top of the NHL standings is the trade for Tyler Seguin not the hiring of Lindy Ruff. Without Seguin the Stars would be just another team in the league. The question for me is, where would the Sabres be right now if they would have fired Regier earlier and hired Jim Nill.

  8. I know EXACTLY what punt you're talking about, and it's when I stopped paying attention to the game.  Which was about seven minutes after I started paying attention to the game.

My question is, why even bring punters or kickers on the trip?

I heard today that the D got their 20th sack today.  That is a mere pittance to what they had last year.  Might just be the biggest tell of what went wrong this season.

I would say the biggest tells were the penalties and general lack of discipline.

Overall, Rex Ryan's ego is the biggest problem. He is a good defensive coach, he's not Belichick good where he can scheme his team to victory despite it's short comings. One third of the teams wins came against the Dolphins. Their one quality win came against a Jet's team that had yet to turn things around.

There just isn't much or really any positives to be taken from this season.

  9. Do you honestly believe adding Revis, Cromartie, Marshall and replacing Geno with Fitz isn't worth mentioning?

By the way, we beat that "much improved without Rex" team.

The Jets are 4-1 since that game and the Bills are 1-3 heading to 1-4.

  10. Agreed with the undervaluing of our players........My best example of this is how many people hated Brian Campbell on this board......Very solid NHL defensemen that most people here couldn't trade quick enough

If memory serves me correctly it was due to the money Campbell was expected to demand and eventually got. He is a good defenseman, he never even came close to living up to the contract he got.

  11. I don't agree with this at all. GMTM wasn't going to trade Myers without a top 4 defenseman coming back.

Having said that, I generally agree that Ennis and Foligno isn't going to get it done. The Sabres would need to include something like Pysyk, McCabe or Zemgus.

I also agree that next year's #1 is off the table.

So it was Kane for Myers, Stafford, Lemieux, Armia, a 1st, & acceptance of Bogosian's & Kasdorf's contracts?

Not saying that that is what I'd give up for him (not saying it isn't either - haven't really thought about how much value he'd bring to the Sabres as the roster is currently set up, which is what would determine his value to Buffalo), just that it isn't as far out of ballpark as has been insinuated. And your unwillingness to make that trade furthers that belief.

Murray may have wanted a d-man in return, IMO, Evander Kane does not become a Buffalo Sabres unless Bogosian's contract comes with him.

  12. So Bogosian was free?

Considering Nick Foligno's progression through the years, Marcus may have more value in trade than we expect. A top 6 winger, a solid bottom 6 guy that MAY be a diamond in the rough, and a lottery ticket for Matthews could be close to value for a "team cancer." Really depends on how much 28 other teams are willing to part with for giving him a change of scenery.

Taking on Bogosian's contract was part of the price the Sabres had to pay.

  13. I hear you..  sometimes I am amazed how we underestimate trade value.  Torts doesn't like him and has made him a healthy scratch.  My guess is he has achieved 'cancer' status in Columbus.  This might not be as hard as it seems.

He is only 23. Compare that price to the price the Sabres paid for a 23 year old Evander Kane, two NHL players, two prospects and a 1st round pick. Is Ennis and Foligno comparable to Myers and Stafford value wise? That would determine the mix prospects and picks you would need to add.

  14. Pretty last minute, but I'm really looking for Christmas gift ideas for a few people

brother: loves Bills, Sabres, drinking, and America

    sister: no clue

brother in law: drinking, sports, video games

Any help? Drinking accessories are always good, the weirder or the more outlandish, the better

Depending on the age of your sister I would suggest a spa/salon gift certificate.

For your brothers, I would look for their favorite liquor and try to find a stylish bottle. Like this:crystal640.jpg?ve=1&tl=1

  15. Edit:

After comparing stats, I'd give them Foligno and a pick too...

I love the idea of the Sabres adding Johansen, I just can't see the Jackets giving him up for a package built around Ennis. Giving up a 6'3" 30 goal scorer for a 5' 9" 20 goal scorer just doesn't seem like good value. Foligno at this point is nothing more than a fourth line throw-in. You would have to include a player like McCabe or Pysyk along with some healthy picks like a 1st and 3rd or a couple of 2nds with Ennis and Foligno. If I'm the Jackets GM I want full value which is NHL ready players, prospect and picks.

  16. I have some problems with Bylsma so far.  I am open-minded, but he makes questionable decisions.  Anyway, if this team finishes in the last five, it's on him.  (Barring injuries of course.)

    This team is underperforming.  Bigtime.

IMO, this team is right where they should have been expected to be. This team is much better then they where the last two seasons and they are far more competitive and entertaining nightly then there were. O'Reilly has been better than advertised.  McGinn has been a huge surprise and the kids, Eichel, Reinhart and Ristolainen has been a joy watching their development.

We are only 29 games into the turnaround. Enjoy what you are watching, in a couple of seasons we will be looking back at these early moments reminiscing on how far this team has come.
