  1. A lot don’t
  2. Not only in aspiration but in mechanics, as well. The only possible plan of action should we change GMs is another long form rebuild, of course
  3. The whole thing is being presented backwards again. We have seen the results: they are in fact very bad under Adams, league relative, for a long period of time. That’s the actual, objective standings based result, the “answer” if you will. We can work backwards to see where management went wrong we are still projecting out a “who could have expected it to be bad?” mindset based on a *personally biased* analysis of the work Adams did through the prism of the moment. We don’t need to do that: we have the actual results
  4. lol go check the samuelsson thread and read my response to see if it’s only a sketchy deal in hindsight
  5. How soon can you extend a GM currently under contract? Just curious
  6. Tbh it doesn’t really matter what happens the rest of this season. I’ve seen enough; Playoffs next year for sure purely based on the growth internally
  7. Honestly, have to hand it to Kevyn Adams
  8. It might just be that his definition of “success” or what’s acceptable is just plainly different when considering the two teams. The scariest thing isn’t that Terry is incompetent: it’s the possibility the Sabres are performing exactly as Terry needs them to. Which is something we unfortunately need to consider
  9. Probably one of Adams’ biggest failings: so easily bending over backwards to the EEE strategy, at the very least. The enabling and encouragement of Terry’s worst qualities is exactly why we know he’s unfit to be a GM. Well, that and the complete lack of qualifications, or results achieved If we can’t get rid of problem numero uno in Terry, our only hope is he eventually realizes the only way to success is an experienced GM, neither selling a long form plan nor amenable to one, backed by a franchise actually prioritizing winning in the now. The issue being, I’m not even sure Terry is measuring success by those same parameters
  10. They aren’t spoiled: they are conditioned They’ve played under the banners of low expectations, and low expecations disguised as lip service to making the playoffs but nonetheless still low as evidenced by lack of spending.
  11. Darcy Regier was the last GM to get this team to the playoffs. It sort of gets written out of history, but he even did it with Pegula as the owner (I know, not for the whole season - but the portion of the season that actually earned the berth was played under his watch). Darcy was an experienced GM when he managed the feat. He managed a playoff team multiple times. Darcy had been a general manager (on an interim basis, sure, but he still performed the role) when we hired him. He was a qualified candidate beyond that. Botterill comes the closest in resume before taking the job, so three types of candidates don’t always work out to Darcy’s level, but you have a far better shot at it than hiring a guy with Adams’ essentially non-existent credentials. Of course, imo, the veteran, experienced Darcy of his later years (mistakes and all, we don’t need to ask for the moon, I think we’ve seen how much of an improvement even basic competence would be at this point) is what would serve us best in steering this into a playoff team with Pegula around, so the experienced candidate is still the ideal choice. Again, something we haven’t had since Darcy. It’s all about finding (allowing) an experienced candidate
  12. Every asset is on the table for the right price, up to and including the pick itself

  14. Sabres are officially last overall in the league
