  1. The floodgates definitely WILL open at some point, not a prediction, a certainty. There will be positive regression, they aren’t going to average one goal a game that’s ridiculous - The Hawks finished 32nd in gpg last year at 2.17. We are at 1.00. We’ll explode at some point even just to get back to normal bad. Then who knows from there
  2. In a year where playoffs are the mandate, do you believe this presents a potential issue? Or is that potentially not the mandate?
  3. But, as @dudaceklikes to say: not altogether inexperienced As Sidc3000 always says: most of them are seasoned players
  4. LaFontaine warned him remember when he turned down a higher position.
  5. Are we allowed to post the heatdaddy rant on the Sabres today? Too NSFW? It’s therapeutic haha
  6. In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey Butane in my veins and I'm out to cut the junkie
  7. I think they’ve done a good job figuring out which numbers often correlate to success. There’s still a massive chasm re: identifying the how and why of when they aren’t predictive They often are not painted as an avenue for success, but rather the achievement of success itself. “It’s only a matter of time, if the numbers say this.” erroneous. They are missing a trick: the factors preventing the numbers from bearing out in the macro
  8. Ya I mean he can definitely be a reasonable player. My issue was always with the misreading of his value to the tune of suggesting he was the team’s mvp, which happened a crazy amount, and that absurd contract. It’s not even that expensive: it was just ridiculous to sign him up for the term we did when we did. No upside only downside. I was almost the only person torpedoing that deal at the time so you’ll have to forgive me for reiterating that point What would he cost now? Assuredly not any more than we already paid. Probably less. We aren’t gaining anything but the handcuff of a locked in term At the end of the day the deal was exactly what I said it was: part of a messaging offseason where we wanted to show everyone he and others “wanted to be here”
  9. Bingo
  10. Adams didn’t let Botterill do anything. He merely reported back on what he saw Krueger, sure
  11. It’s not so much “because of the fanbase” as it is the fact the chances of those poor stretches showing up far too much going forward go WAY up when you commit a poor stretch to record that early. Ie the chances of the stretch being an anomaly but also randomly showing up at the first available opportunity is low We don’t posses the mitigating factors the Panthers did when they started 0-2, ie: a proven roster
  12. It’s more so we lost our 3 upon first available opportunity
  13. His legend was built on a misreading re: correlation and causation
  14. Agree, honestly still surprised by 5 of the 19 making it, though. Leaves room for some hope I suppose
  15. The other sports thread is like the fast-food drive thru for being told your takes are wrong in an expedited manner
  16. 5/19 (26%) isn’t all that bad tbh. Would have guessed way more drastic separation there
  17. Absolutely fantastic playoffs so far Rooting for the Tigers but really just for entertaining games. Nothing matches playoff ball
  18. Those comps don’t really serve the argument, I agree. Not if the personnel isn’t comparable. It’s not as if we can just like, ya know, steal their league leading power play design and voilà. Pretty sure the artists are responsible for the created art, and I don’t see a spare McDavid lying around, let me know if you do. Biggest (see: only) avenue to substantially addressing notable issues like even strength scoring, our PP deficiencies, etc is to properly build and supplement the roster. The PP remaining bad isn’t very surprising when you remember who the key offseason additions were, after an inept PP last year. We chose to supplement the 4th line, ok. I’m shocked that without more talented players we aren’t finding more success within the area of the game talented players shine the most we are hoping right now on a sorely needed in-season move from the GM (don’t laugh) or the first three games to be proven a very unlucky statistical anomaly, wherein we really do have a good top 6, in which case goal scoring in all facets should fix itself. Ie: if Adams built a good roster, it’ll simply bear out
  19. Someone call the burn unit
  20. I do agree with you on that. The season isn’t over because of 3 games. Their body of work in totality is FAR more troubling re: their prospective chances of making it this year, than the 3 game hole is. For a competent team, it’s overcomeable
  21. Always love the concession at the end maybe next time
  22. Congratulations, you are more disappointing as a poster than the sabres are at hockey
  23. This is only a relevant factor if that team, by scratching the surface at game 25, is able to then catapult itself into a playoff spot via that development. Figuring it out by game 25 isn’t relevant if there isn’t enough runway to catch up The coach is a footnote re: an nhl roster, anyways. They don’t get non playoff teams into the playoffs. Or vice versa. Improvement or the opposite: merely on the margins. Said it all offseason: if you need ONE coach to fix the output of TWENTY guys: you have already lost Ya; you didn’t understand my post
  24. This is like saying, “it’s simple: you fix the amount of goals we put into the net” you don’t “fix” the powerplay. Utter misnomer. You roster better players on the powerplay
