Actually it's a great way to start, get him with the older pro's to show him the ropes, where to be, what to do, what's to be expected. Also if you want to start an unnecessary problem, take your popular was 4th line hustler who earned a shot off of the 1st line and put a 4th round rookie in his place in his first practice. You think taking a head shot at Reinhart caused a stir just try anything but this for office politics.

IMO for what it's worth, I don't think he's a bad defender per se especially as a winger and once he's in a zone but at least to me a center has to cover a lot more ice than a winger does and in this point in his progression he'll never be a ROR. Eichel's speed advantage will make him as good as he wants to be.

I know the popular choice is to put Reinhart at center but unless he improves drastically on the defensive side, I just don't see him as anything but a very good winger Didn't realize how bad the Sabre broadcast has become until I started watching the other teams feeds. One the picture is almost always better and I can't quite understand this but also flipping back and forth on the Carolina feed, what a gigantic difference on their broadcast team. They actually knew the names of our players, where they played before and gave a pretty accurate account of our players strengths and weaknesses. They were very complementary of most our players but in particular Johnson. Even described his play and positioning. Switched back to the Buffalo feed and unless there was a fight, the entire play by play and color was from a Sabre name or view point. They even mentioned with a touch of reverence RJ and what a thrill it was to talk to him before the game. Kane takes the majority of hits for everything that doesn't go right but Zemgus should be getting the abuse. He blows 2-3 great opportunities every game. Wide open in the slot one time and he doesn't realize it and passed it out to the D. So disappointing, I was expecting him to really pick it up this year. I'm coming around to us needing help on D more than a forward. Pysyk hasn't stepped up and Colaiacovo has to be replaced next year, Gorges stepping down a pairing also. I'm far from a bunkerite but we need major improvement with getting the puck out of our zone. As for the bolded it probably won't happen because WildCard, JJ and TrueBlue think having 7 Girgensons' production may be more cost effective than having one Stamkos. :P

All the fancy stats doesn't take away that even for a down year for him he's still 7th in the league in goal scoring. On a team totally deficient in scoring goals and in a league where scoring is down how do you not want this guy?? Also for a team that has been abysmal for the past few years how do you look the fan base in the eye and tell them with all the cap space you have that you didn't think it was a good idea to at the very least put on a good show in trying to get him??? Fight the good fight Dudacek, you're in the right here.

I'm not sure what Stamkos is really worth and I don't think there's a chance in hell Toronto doesn't outbid us. Having said that after the past few years of futility, we haven't won a playoff series in 10 years and we're going to quibble about if Jack and ROR are going to have hurt feelings if Stamkos is added to the mix??? If Stamkos gets a letter??? Who is he going to fit with?? With the cap space we have and the lower tenders we can throw our young guys when their time is due. As far as I'm concerned as long as they don't throw a Mario contract at him..... GO FOR IT. With the expected growth of Jack, Samson and Risto plus adding Stamkos and you don't think we become a playoff team and Cup contender in 2 years??? If you have any chance, you HAVE to go for it for a 26 year old All Star.

Worse, 3rd game in 4 days, without Jack, they looked tired, lost every loose puck and they couldn't generate anything. Even the first period where they held a 1-0 lead they were badly outplayed. Their #1 weakness was exposed, speed and with tired legs it made it look even worse. The young kids of Toronto aren't that bad either. They may well be on the rebound faster than some think but then again as badly as we played, you never know.

Observations Sabers are 14-11-6 in the 2nd half of the season Early offsides issues gone, demonstrably better on PP and PK, obvious improvement from beginning to end of the year.... Why the Bylsma hate?? Johnson is 7-2-1 in his last 10 starts..... Do we keep him?? I love the way Kane plays but can you please score on a f'n breakaway To all Bunkerites.... Bogosian has been our best Dman the 2nd half of the season The kids kicked it up while ROR was out and now with him we have looked really good the past 2 games I think the team protects its own but they seem particularly protective of Reinhart I'm going to miss Legwand, very good on the PK and just seems like a good veteran guy for the kids Midseason I thought Foligno was a goner, I don't think so anymore Have they picked a date for the lottery draft yet??? April 18th I think last year. That's about a month away, I'm beginning to think we have no chance for a top 4 pick unless we get lucky

I don't think it's as important for the young guys to have to win as opposed to lose for their development going forward but it may be important that the opinion of the team is as positive as possible for potential UFA's to want to come here. If the money is close enough to not make a difference, you do want the impression that this is a team on a skyward mission and not another Oilers mess.
