  1. Dang every white shirt I own has a coffee, spaghetti sauce or salsa stain on it.
  2. VS Yes your Buffalo Sabres will try for their 4th straight win and 8th in the last 11 games against the Washington Capitals. With this streak the Sabres are showing the hockey world that their Kids Are Alright. During the March streak you may be surprised to find out the Sabres have scored 28 goals and surrendered 28. They have given up 15 goals in their 3 losses and only 13 in their 7 wins so it really isn't hard to figure out that their team defense and GK is what is carrying the day except they have scored 26 goals in their 7 wins and and 2 in the 3 losses. Although Dahlin's play has been outstanding during this streak you might be surprised to find out he only has 5 points during this 10 game streak this month. Can this team continue its very good defensive play of late or are we doomed. Thompson leads the team in points this month with 8 and is on track to score 60 points on his current pace. What has been impressive is they are getting contributions from all 4 lines this month. LETS GO BUFFALO Mash Washington
  3. I voted no but not because of what we'll do in the offseason but until I see one of the current 8 Eastern Conference teams start showing signs of age catching up with them. We are in a power house conference and Boston, Pittsburgh and Washington are showing no signs yet of slowing down. So we'll see but I don't think we'll be ready until the 23'-24' season.
  4. Tomorrow’s TV schedule: Northeastern vs. Western Michigan at 12pm ET Michigan vs. American International at 3pm ET Massachusetts vs. Minnesota at 6pm ET
  5. It starts today, at the moment Minnesota State leads Harvard 3-0 in the 2nd period. For TV coverage, it is on ESPN-U for anyone interested in watching it today. Minnesota Duluth vs. Michigan Tech at 3pm ET Notre Dame vs. North Dakota at 6pm ET UMass Lowell vs. Denver at 9pm ET.
  6. I don't necessarily dislike Bryson or Fitzgerald but what this team needs is a guy who specializes on the PK and won't get bullied by a bigger, stronger forward. As for finding a mate for Power, after watching the evolution of Dahlin, we need him to be paired with a vet who can not only mentor him and get respect from him but whatever flaws he has in his game from inexperience can be hidden by a vet who can read the game and control play. He doesn't need to be a star but someone who is not just a one trick pony. This is important IMO because until we have a 1A GK, having a good defensive backend is a must.
  7. Great observation and what I think makes that work especially when they're at their best is you can see the time and space it gives the other 2 forwards when they retrieve the puck.
  8. I agree with what has been said about Tuch, Skinner and Thompson individually BUT together they have such chemistry. You can't overestimate the area that Tuch and Thompson cover with their length and it gives Skinner the capability to do Skinner things. I never thought Skinner was anything but a chaos forward and paired with the other 2 guys, he's able to be just that. By the way has anyone noticed we're now 7th from the bottom, 1 point behind the Blackhawks and 5 behind the media darling Cinderella team, the Red Wings. Quite the climb this month has brought about and is this the best March we've had in at least a decade??
  9. I seen something similar to this last night but I couldn't find it today. Thanks, there also was something similar in evaluating the forwards and again thanks for posting this. Good stuff.
  10. The guy is 79 years old, he still has a flare but I think he's retiring (well deserved by the way) because it's just too physically taxing on him. You may not necessarily see it but at a certain point in life you just don't have the energy needed to perform and travel the way you used to. Unfortunately I think he realizes it and wants to give it a rest and enjoy the rest of his life without the public and personal expectations.
  11. My opinion is the defense looks much better because the forwards are forechecking and back checking much better than earlier in the season. If they're going to make strides next year for a playoff spot they are going to need to make 1 major upgrade to our RHD group or 2 medium upgrades. One of them needs to be a PK specialist. The team is also healthier than at any other time of this season. Hinostroza isn't necessarily good but he adds a speed element to the team that is noticeable. Eakin is never going to be confused as a good center but playing with Girgs and Okposo he doesn't stick out as a sore thumb like he did. Girgs is the most underrated player on the team, he's gritty, hustles, probably the best defensive forward we have and is very good on the boards. He makes a difference every game even if it hardly shows up on the scorecard. From what I've read on the analytics part of the game, the Cozens line was by far the worst line in the game for us. I don't understand the hate some people give Mitts, he's coming along fine and there was a big difference on PP1 with him in the game. He also is playing a more physical game than he has in the past, I think both he and Dahlin have improved a bunch in that area. Dahlin is just special, I don't think we have to worry about him regressing any longer, he also looks faster to me, I'm not sure if his anticipation creates that but he gets to pucks much better than before and he may be the most skilled player on the team. The way he maneuvers thru the opponents zone at times is just jaw dropping. The national guys are starting to take notice.
  12. I think that's more MSG than ESPN+ because everyone under the MSG umbrella is cut off, while on west coast teams with no affiliation such and the Canadian teams have their shows on. I'm not sure what the disconnect is, but I agree it's a pain in the dupa.
  13. Plus for out of towners, ESPN+ is much better than NHLTV ever was. Cheaper and more variety of things to watch. This will be a real test for the Sabres because Pittsburgh is not only on a roll itself but don't look now they are right on the tails of Carolina for the best record in the Metropolitan Division, 3 points behind. They're getting older but they keep on finding ways to stay on top. Hopefully Dahlin continues his otherworldly play and Mitts' last game is the start of his getting back on track. Sabres will be trying to tie their season best 3 game winning streak in this game. Hopefully just win Sabres "Do It Again". LETS GO BUFFALO
  14. Personally I think some of you have way overrated the UFA jags on this team. Nobody was going to give us much of anything for them and the ones who might have were injured for a large percentage of this year including recently. Besides Hineythestrozaman, I wouldn't keep any of them for next year. Miller although not the most favored pick is probably the guy who plays with Power when he comes aboard being a vet who obviously didn't kick and scream to get out of here either at the end of last year or at this trade deadline. I thought he played pretty well against Vancouver also, so there are worst options including Pysyk.
  15. Dahlin seems to reach another level every week that goes by. My theory on the guy is that some kids are physically mature before they catch up mentally. Think of an 18 year old kid, with the expectations of a city and league of being the #1 pick. You're in a new country. You're on a crappy team with a lousy attitude with no veteran leadership or mentor to help you along. Your coach gets fired, you end up with a guy that wants to change the way you play. Your confidence goes down because you no longer are playing to your strengths but are starting to think too much which slows you down. He gets fired and the new guy says just go play. You start regaining your confidence and then you get to go to the all star game. Where you end up playing with top end players and V. Hedman takes a liking to you and tells you how good you are. You realize these guys who are the best in the business but you can play with these guys and they're really not that much if any better than you are. You come back to your team, Tuch gives the team a spark of bravado and since then your confidence renewed, your coach giving you the green light to play your game and voila, a star is born. There is no looking back for this guy, his performance on the ice since the all star game is almost breathtaking to behold. There is so much more than his stick handling, his vision, passing, defensive play and how he's becoming much more physical. That play yesterday when he went to the net and knocked Schenn on his butt (who's a big strong man) and went almost unnoticed because the play was called back for Miller's goal. He doesn't make that play 2 months ago or previously. He's just starting folks, there's more to come IMO.
  16. Dahlin and Mitts with highlight reel plays today. Dahlin is unbelievable today and Mitts was eating Pettersson’s line alive
  17. Let’s not forget your dream boy Juolevi also, l would have thought you’d quit after that fiasco
  18. For all the angst on this site when they lose, they’re 5-3 in the last 8 games, all against playoff teams. Impressive win and when was the last time the Sabres had the most SOG for each period and OT in a game?? Tokarski’s best game ever.
  19. Should there be any concern that Hughes a D and Beniers a C with Michigan are also included and Power isn't?? I could care less who actually wins the award but Hughes over Power is a legitimate question.
  20. Be prepared to not get much more than a 3rd for anybody we trade especially from the defense. I'm guessing that if Anderson and Olofsson are ok with it they'll get moved but if they want to stay, they'll stay. Our best bet of getting something better lies in how much money we'll retain in a 3 way trade.
  21. Unlike football and other sports, baseball is primarily a regional sport that still gets its fans to follow a particular team and not necessarily the other teams. Hockey would love to have the revenue of baseball. It doesn't get a national audience until the playoffs. As for the shift it's not a total ban, the infielders have to be in the infield and not play like you're in slow pitch softball and the 3rd infielder (2nd baseman or SS) can't cross totally over second base. As for the pitch clock, it'll affect some hitters as much as the pitchers. Nothing worst then watching a hitter have to adjust his gloves and hat after every pitch whether he swings or not. It's another example of the roboticization of sports thru analytics. You see it much more in how it changes baseball and basketball than hockey and football but it's there too.
  22. I agree wholeheartedly, he's a lefty we don't need another one, plus the main reason Arizona is even thinking about moving this kid is because he isn't reliable in his own end. What we need is a defensibly reliable, physical RD that is good on the PK and will add some vet experience to mentor the majority of our backend. I see someone has read my previous posts on both those guys. Mayfield we'll have to trade for but Gudbranson you're correct is an UFA. Both won't break the bank either. We have enough puck movers we need more Samuelsson's IMO unless someone like Dumba falls in our lap in a cap dump. Tampa isn't trading Cernak by the way.
