GDT: 1/19/21 7pm ET, Sabres at Philadelphia Flyers, MSG & WGR

That's the best you can come up with on that post. 😃😀 -
VS In what can only be described as the best game the Buffalo Sabres have played in the Pegula era, they demolished a Flyers team yesterday that was being compared to the best teams in the NHL. They accomplished this in almost Globetrotterish fashion. The Flyers totally embarrassed by their play should come out flying in this game so a similar effort will be called for. Can the Sabres Do It Again?? 5 Star Awards yesterday: Hall-Eichel-Reinhart line. Nothing short of WOW and I can't imagine breaking up this trio after that performance Risto with his possibly best all around game of his Sabre career. He was Josie Wales with everything but spitting before killing anything that moved Lazar-Sheahan-Skinner line, what genius put that trio together Sabrespacers who couldn't biotch about the Skinner line, Risto, Casey, HCRK, Hutton decided that Stall and Samson was their next victims. Invisible, Phantom of the Operish?? WTF Ralph K who mixed the right kind of ingredients to get this team ready to play THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW With a win tonight, the Sabres would have wins in consecutive meetings with the Flyers for the first time since they won three in a row from Feb. 19 to Oct. 30, 2015. The road team has won just 60 of the 182 regular-season matchups between the Sabres and Flyers, including just two of the last nine. A win tonight would mark the first consecutive road wins in the series since the Sabres won consecutive games in Philadelphia on Feb. 19 and Oct. 27, 2015. BULLYING THE BULLIES Buffalo’s 6-1 win last night tied the Sabres’ second-best goal differential in their 182 regular-season matchups with the Flyers. It also tied their greatest winning margin in a road game in Philadelphia. Not knowing what Linus' problem may be, we can only hope it's something that can be dealt with in a timely fashion. All best wishes his way LETS GO BUFFALO

Still young but shows no signs of explosiveness, can't hit the net with a shot to save his soul and still getting knocked on his keister way too often. Good player overall but he reminds me of Reinhart and not Jack in terms of controlling a game.

Not sure how it works this year but it used to be that NHL-TV still worked with ESPN+ doing the game -
VS Yes, Hockey and the NHL are back as the Sabres host the Ovie led Capitals in a fan less Key Bank Center. The long awaited and anticipated Taylor Hall and Eric Stall 1st game arrival starts today. The Keys to victory and making a playoff run for the Sabres are Hall and Eichel meshing into a top of the league line #1 Samson and Stall becoming a legitimate Line #2 GTs having career years and keeping bad goals to a minimum The PK improving from one of the worst all-time The PP improving to what should be a contender for top 5 in the league The Defense taking another step forward Eakins, Thompson, Skinner, Olofsson and even Cozens giving us some semblance of balanced scoring Rasmus Dahlin saying I'm no longer going to stand for being just a teenage scoring machine, I'm not going to be forgotten among the leagues best young defensivemen, I'm going to announce to the league and the world I'M A M. A. N. MaaaaaaaaaaN. TONIGHT’S GAME : THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW This is the first of eight meetings between the Sabres and Capitals this season. Last meeting: Buffalo defeated Washington 3-2 (SO) in Buffalo on March 9, 2020 Next meeting: Friday, Jan. 15 in Buffalo The Sabres are 3-5-2 in their last 10 games vs. the Capitals; 5-3-2 at home. This is the 164th game all-time between Buffalo and Washington; Buffalo has a 90-52-21 series record. The Sabres are 49-23-9 at home against the Capitals all-time. OPENING NIGHT Tonight’s game marks the 50th season-opener in franchise history. The Sabres are 25-19-5 all-time in season-openers; 17-10-5 when opening on the home. Buffalo is 22-20-7 all-time in their first home game of the season. This is the team’s sixth season-opener in the last seven seasons to take place at home. The Sabres have previously opened their season against the Capitals twice (1979-80 and 1981-82), earning wins at home to open both of those seasons. The Sabres have 8 new players on the roster, Cozens, Quinn, Rieder, Eakin, Irwin, Hall, Stall and Sheehan. This appears to be on paper the best, fastest and maybe biggest lineup we've had in the past decade. Okposo with a LBI is the only question mark for this game although you know it's a Sabres season with the fanbase already questioning the ability of the bottom 6 lineup, our GTs, who was sent to Rochester, who's on the taxi squad, is the Coach another bum, blah, blah, blah..... NHL Notes: Please do not put the Blackhawks on National TV again. I know the fan less banner raising ceremony for Tampa Bay but OMG what a train wreck of a team that once mighty franchise has become. Toronto beats Montreal in OT with Simmons getting the Loafs pumped up with some fisticuffs, Bogosian being Bogosian and Vesey scoring the tying goal. Pittsburgh also on the list of getting spanked by Philadelphia and Vancouver beating Edmonton last night and St. Louis just wearing and beating down the Colorado Avs. LETS GO BUFFALO

I kinda got my feewings hurt, so I'm going to have to reconsider it. 😀😀

I guess I'm not invited??

I have to admit I'm amused with all the haggling with the lines in here. We are going to play 10 games in eighteen days of January with 3 sets of back to backs. I think we're not going to see your typical lineups set in stone like before but we are going to see a steady stream of guys moving in and out of the lineup not just because of matchups but to make sure most of the lineup is fresh on a game by game basis. IMO anyway and that includes guys in Rochester. Plus that doesn't include guys who are banged up and need an off day when there isn't one available. Put a cup on those hurt pee pees of yours, the season hasn't started yet.
-
I do understand your point but one of the reasons for last years collapse was having statistically one of the worst PKs of all time. Did you really think they weren't going to address it at the beginning of this season?? I guess I'm going to see how they do before I start criticizing the moves.
-
@Shootica Just in case you missed the bolded.
-
I guess they just took him off the broadcasts last year and made it official today. I was under the impression he was gone already.

I was going to add something to this post but after reading someone comparing Ovie who may be the greatest goal scorer ever in the game to Skinner, WTF, I don't remember what I was going to say now. A talent like Ovie is a generational player, you give some consideration to him, Skinner?? He has issues with every coach he's played for about being responsible on the ice. As for Cozens, looked absolutely awesome in the tournament but for those who watched the last scrimmage, he looked as lost as Mitts did last year. Hell Borgen even knocked him on his keister. What did he do or show to give him a starting role right off the bat?? And I think he'll end up being good but what happened to earning a spot??
-
To me the scrimmages are to help get in shape, build chemistry, reinforce what you were taught in practice and lastly to win a job in the lineup. Having said that, my takes are that we will not miss Larsson as some of you seem to think with Eakin in the lineup. Okposo will be his primary winger because he's dependable, experienced, brings some physicality to the line and can bring some offense to it. Rieder is a completely different player than Girgs but that line is faster, quicker and appears to have the ability to actually score with him in it. Tage T. made the team. Where he ends up is anyone's guess but he will play somewhere. Skinner is the anomaly, where does he end up?? He thrives in chaos so who he ends up has to help cause it. Lazar, Eakin, Rieder and Sheahan are our primary PKrs. Jack and Hall will be on another level, smart, skilled and their kind of speed kills. Mitts looks faster, quicker, positionally better but still needs work on his defense and especially intensity on the boards. He's coming along though. Asplund looks faster to me but I don't see a place in the lineup for him yet. The Stall-Samson line should be fun to watch. I think Cozens will be given a chance but off first impressions, he needs to start in a Taxi squad and get some AHL time to acclimate to pro hockey. I was having my doubts about the Quinn pick following the IIHF tournament but with some grooming, I think he'll end up being a good pick, someone who has an all around and complete game and doesn't need to be a star. Team looks bigger, faster than any of our recent teams but both Ullmark and Hutton still leaves me feeling that there's still a bigger than necessary hole in the lineup. Hopefully they'll step up or we have to make a move.
-
I thought that was why there was a taxi squad and AHL players, next man up is my solution.
-
It's the sports fans of every city in every sport including Buffalo that needs to have a fall guy/s as to why their team isn't winning. You don't develop as fast as they want, they're a bust, if you don't have the stats of a star player you're the reason we're losing, your forwards don't back check properly, it's the guy on defense who sucks. You unfortunately cannot change the narrative on a player by yourself. Hang in there, it'll all clear up eventually.
-
Not that I disagree with you but R2 and Cozens haven't proved they can do anything in the NHL, much less their rookie years
-
Have you seen the crowds and parades for their MLS Soccer team?? They play their cards right and that'll become a hockey town sooner than later, just keep JB away from hockey decisions
-
If that's the lineup HCRK wants to start the year I believe it's because the organization is putting a heavy emphasis on role players to play the PK and trying to improve the the winning percentage concerning face-offs. I have to admit to being a little disappointed in not giving some of the younger guys playing time but if that's what they do thru the first few games of the season, I say F the taxi squad and send all of Mitts, Cozens, Quinn, Rousto, Asplund down to Rochester and give them a boat load of playing time and different roles, find out who the true Centers are and who the Wings will be and get them ready for either later in the season or next year. You won't convince me that the majority of these guys won't be taking jobs from that bottom 6 sooner rather than later. You have a one time chance to get especially Quinn and Cozens the chance to play in the AHL with some other skilled guys and teach them not only how to play pro hockey but play together.

Thanks, it's not hard to swap per device so it isn't worth the effort on your part, I was just wondering if I was missing something that was available. Have a good day.
-
I've noticed that I prefer the Dark Mode on my computer but it is almost unreadable on my iPhone, is there a way to instead of changing the mode for a User (me) to changing it per Device (phone or computer) thanks?? Otherwise I do still like the choices and your changes so far.

Olofsson potentially injured (he's okay?) at practice 1/2/21

I'm starting to wonder if he and Casey will start off on the taxi squad. I tell you what if Casey M comes around like I expect, he, Cozens, Quinn and JJ make a pretty good 4some coming up the pipeline. Add Tage to the list and that future 2nd and 3rd lines look full.
