EDIT Bogosian Requests Trade, Now EROD wants One As Well
woods-racer replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Every contract is a bad contract when they under perform or get injured. Not sure how you ever escape that. Even if the GM is right 99% of the time. -
There's an open spot on the big club. It's easy to move someone up now.
-
IIRC he didn't have to come to the Sabres. He could have stayed in college and at the end of his 4 years taken the Vesey route. There has been more people than just us that have rumored he only came here under the promise of ice time in the NHL and not be in the AHL. If he thought he was just going to wind up in the AHL he would probably would have stayed in college. So, to surmise that Kruger had discussions that his future looked bleak and he needed some help is not shadowy conspiracy.
-
So you have no problems not seeing him again till the end of February? Possibly for the rest of the season if the Sabres are not in the playoff hunt ? Because that's were I'm at. Can't wait to see Monday's practice lines.

EDIT Bogosian Requests Trade, Now EROD wants One As Well

What is Bogo worth? We want a middle six forward, but is he worth one? Doubtful. Is he worth a 3rd or 4th round pick and a prospect? Maybe. Does his salary being gone in a trade for a bag of pucks have any value? Probably the most we're going to get. -
Who is the better hockey player, Matthews or Eichel?

The results of the poll seem to indicate a bias on the part of Sabres fans. But I know better. -

Many of these players – Bogosian near the front of the line –- ran Dan Bylsma out of town in 2017. Phil Housley didn't get much support in the dressing room last year either. Krueger wasn't going to let the blame-the-coach charade get any momentum An little snipit from the Buffalo News article. Which was well written and worth the 5 minute read. As the late great Paul Harvey would say...*and now we know the rest of the story....* Why Housley gave a thumbs up or a like from a post on twitter. Seems as though our locker cancer is more wide spread than we imagined. -

Glad you brought this up, I hadn't thought about the locker room impact much. Love to hear what Kruger tells them. The *not in the press version*. -

But something is in everything. -
That's what I've been trying to say. Getting two players from somewhere else that are not as good but cheaper, because the 1 guy on that line has a bad contract, won't make that line better.

I agree with you. Let me clarify my original premise. If we had a seasoned veteran team that we could spread the work load over 3 lines to compensate for the lack of a fourth line I can see this as doable. We're hanging on by a thread here without that. How long Jack can keep this pace? Mojo? Larry? They have all elevated their games. How long will it last under a heavier work load? If they get a 3rd for Bogo and bring Lazar up from Rochester I would feel much better. -

I have to believe if they could move anyone of our defenders that have been a healthy scratch for some offensive depth it would have happened. I just feel that the return is so little (4th, 5th round pick little) that Botterill feels we are better off with them and waiting and hoping for something better. -

Risto gets burned out getting over played. Kruger gets praised for reducing his minutes and spreading the load. How long will Jack last? IIRC he's 23-24 minutes a night. There's a reason *rolling 4 lines* means so much in hockey. -

Reasons behind each are apples and oranges difference though. -

Bogosian has to really play his butt off just to stay in the lineup and if he gets moody or plays poorly he sits in the press box and now has a microscope on him. That is not screaming pay me big bucks next year with a long term deal winner. -

I don't think anyone is upset, just baffled as to why his agent leaked it. -

Ralph is, but him and Botterill are playing with fire. A GOOD seasoned veteran team with some injuries can survive like this for a month. How long can the Sabres? -
You threw Kyle's numbers into the Larrson- Girgs talk. Kyle is an albatross. The Sabres can never skimp enough on veteran player contracts to make up for that bad signing. We would be icing an AHL team on that rational. I hope the Sabres don't cheap out and not sign anyone good because they might have to pay the going rate for them. I also hope that the Sabres aren't looking to sign only players that come on the cheap because we have Kyle.

It's a Friday the 13th omen. Which is usually a really positive day for me. Every Friday. Even ones that fall on the 13th. ?

If his agent let this leak out that he wanted traded he is one stupid agent. It's a small club, someone is calling Howie to get his opinion as to why he liked it. Call it a reference check for a potential hire. Edit, By small club I mean coaches, ex-coaches and GMs. -
Botterill will keep both as long as the term and price is right. They are playing 3rd and possibly 2nd line minutes at a 4th line cost. They are out at the end of games with 1 goal leads and winning. I just don't think they are *that easy* to replace.

It appears that Mr. Bogosian over values his play and what he brings to a team. We will be lucky to get a bag of pucks for him. He's more damaged than ROR after his *lost my love* comment. -

I was thinking the same thing. Has to be worth at least a serviceable third line wing. -

Yes. Not happily. But, yes. I'd want traded. Quietly and with respect. No burning bridges with a team that paid me millions to get a couple surgeries and watch from home on TV. -

Watched Jack's post game in locker room interview and got 2 points from it. 1. *Takin care of business* was blaring and they had to talk loud to hear each other. There's confidence in that room, not a lucky we got 2 points feeling, we won that feel because we're better vibe. 2. It's tough to play in our barn. Good work along the walls and working hard in our d-zone as a forward. And lastly, they sucked me in. The hook is coming out the bottom of my jaw.
