His teammates had to wait in the PJ on the tarmac, they got hissy. Clearing cap space to bring back EJ?

What has to happen to turn the ship around this season?

Right on, hating to lose is not the same as wanting to win. Ratcheting up the compete level in DG lingo. Hate stirs the urge to win battles. Hating other teams is OK, the animosity only needs to be on the ice. At the very least the players need to return their participation trophies to him. -
Interesting take. Some (myself included) think Quinn should just assume his role on L2. He has the defensive ability to play on L4 and could generate enough offense to get moved up. I think this is where putting Rosen and Kulich on L4 is not setting them up for success. They aren’t ready for L1 but sticking them with Jost, Girgs and KO means there won’t be any puck touches because all they do is dump and chase.

I don’t think any of Jost, Greenway, Stillman and Robinson were expected to elevate the team. They are mostly depth guys except for Greenway. KA is the bigger problem imo because he is afraid to make a big move. Is he scared of losing the trade, parting with a prospect who pops off elsewhere? I would consider it a win by bringing in some experience that provides good play and leadership bringing the team into the playoffs even if you lose say Rosen and someone else. Even if he becomes a 25 goal guy for the next 10 years. The young guys that stay learn from the vets and continue to build the culture of winning. As much as it feels OK now to have picked up TNT and RyJo in the ROR trade, I think one Cup feels better.

They care, they just need leadership to point them in the right direction and to make them accountable for not doing the things that lead to winning.

I doubt KO wants to leave, even for a playoff run. Who would engrave the participation trophies? He is a great person and has taught these young guys a lot about being pros and good people. He has played over 1000 games but only 24 playoff games. Buffalo is partly responsible for that but KO doesn’t know how to win. When I think about accountability it means that the leadership group (Owner, GM, Coaches, Captain) should have a prickly element to their personalities. When the time comes to call someone out you do it. Not everyone is cut out for that role and it doesn’t seem to be a part of any of those guys’ makeup. Dahlin gets my vote because he drives play, defends hard and has an edge. With that being said they still need to bring in some veteran grit that has won something.
