  1. It’s almost like giving someone (a player in this instance) a promotion and not bothering to speak to their supervisor to see what their strengths are and what they need to continue to improve. And, as you suggest, the Sabres organization should play a uniform system. There should be a single vision on how they want their players to behave on the ice and it should be evident at both levels. I honestly thought they had this with Taylor and PH, and thought they were going to make a change once Ralph was hired because he teaches a much different game. Did Taylor adapt his team to this at all? Whose responsibility should it have been to make this happen?
  2. But, this is part of the problem. If this is true, the firing of Taylor never properly addressed this problem. It takes 2 people to stop talking to each other. And, if this is allowed to continue to fester, the problem worsens. What I would like Kruger (or even KA, if Kruger doesn’t have the stones) to publicly explain is why this occurred and what did he do to attempt to solve it (he obviously failed to resolved it, outside of fairing the guy after the fact).
  3. I was waiting for that to fall. It’s obvious (or maybe not, because Sabres) that Ralph should’ve had significant input into Taylor’s fate and he was fired. Conversely, he probably signed off on the Appert signing. Who knows, maybe Ralph saw Taylor as someone who was gunning for his job. Nevertheless, the quick playoff exits were good enough for a change.
  4. We probably would if we were a perennial winner, as they likely would’ve been promoted by other teams.
  5. Who are these development coaches? Didn’t we fire everyone?
  6. That may be the case, but nevertheless, they are still connected by the USNTDP. They probably have the same references and/or connections. Maybe we should look to the NTDP for our next hire.
  7. This guy is connected to Jeremiah Crowe as well. He was the HC of the NTDP while Crowe was the Director of Player Personnel.
  8. I found this helpful: https://www.capfriendly.com/qualifying-offer-calculator
  9. This is a very simple rumor to squash. Give him the QO of a measly $3,525,000. End of rumor. End of “mind games”. Not the end of sloppy “reporting” though.
  10. The board would melt down if this guy walks for nothing. Pilut x1000.

    So #8

The fact that a lot of teams need cap relief makes #8 a lot more valuable. It’s an asset that doesn’t hit the cap. Given that, if we’re talking with teams, they’re going to try their best to pry that away from us. They may even demand it instead of demanding a certain player.
  12. If they are going to pass on Lafreniere, they probably should just trade them pick. It would likely unlock more value.
  13. I think the length of their contracts is likely the reason why they are willing to even trade them in the first place (and not ask for Cozens). Hopefully they view them as potential longer-term rentals and know they wouldn’t be able to sign them. So, might as well get value for them.
  14. Do you think most experienced posters on this website would “get destroyed” in their first deal? I just don’t understand this logic. Getting “destroyed” likely is a function of the GMs underlying personality (is he anxious?, in love with things he doesn’t have?, have FOMO?, etc). At the end of the day, another team’s GM can’t force any trade on Adams. He will have the choice to counter or walk away.
  15. I agree with the current treatments, but I’m curious, why are you negative about the potential of vaccine? Multiple small P2 trials have already shown more than adequate antibody production, and P3 trial results should be back in 1-2 months. Most of these drug companies are already stockpiling doses as we speak. Will these antibodies persist beyond 2-3 months, I don’t know. But, even if they lessen the severity of a primary infection, any subsequent secondary infection will likely just be mild. This virus isn’t going anywhere, but the severity associated with a primary infection will.
  16. Pick is going to go to Pittsburg. They need a replacement for Crosby.
  17. New GMs are notorious for coming in and blowing stuff up. Just because. I’m talking about trading ROR kind of stuff.
  18. Doesn’t sound like fake news. Sounds like he gave his honest opinion. But, being the consummate politician he is, backtracked once he realized he insulted a whole region of his constituents.
  19. The other, more ominous scenario was that Botterill plans on drafting Johnson, for whatever non-analytical reason. He asks Nightengale for his analytics. Botterill then goes through and confirms his suspicions based on all the positive analytical data, while ignoring the negatives (because, after all, it’s just analytics).
  20. You mean we’ll be able to stop talking about The Trade?
  21. If true, that’s pretty damning. I can’t really fault him on the bridge burning (where I thought the owner’s words were a level higher in the unprofessionalism department). Great drama though. This is safe, clean fun.
  22. I live within 45 minutes of 2 MLB team stadiums. If it were up to me, I wouldn’t want them functioning. Yet, I’ve had some arguments (with relatives) on the merits of having a MLB team play in downtown Buffalo. I get the Buffalo mentality (lived there most of my life), but the Jays playing in Buffalo just isn’t worth it. These disagreements mostly have to do with politics. Nowadays, if someone says “up”, you must counter with “down”.
  23. What is happening today? edit. I see: https://www.wgrz.com/article/news/blue-jays-first-opponent-in-buffalo-dealing-with-covid-19-outbreak/71-aa0fd9c6-b666-4813-946c-1babb6cc0aa3
  24. It was a joke. They aren’t essential workers. It’s going to be a free for all. I’m sure this comes down to money. It always does.
  25. They’re “essential workers”.
