  1. Went to the Amerks game in Syracuse, a 5-4 win. Ullmark was the difference with 39 saves, many of them during scrums in front of the crease. The Amerks clearly need an upgrade in speed next year, the Bailey line is the only one that is consistantly strong. The D looked slow and had trouble on breakouts. From the start of the game they were outshot 13-1. O'Reilly didn't play. Kaleta was entertaining. He tried to get Morimina to fight for about 20 seconds as they skated around but Morimina wouldn't drop them. Then he chirped the Crunch bench all night. Nevins fell into the boards as he was checking, hit his head, and left the game in the 2nd. With only one ref, there were a bunch of penalties that were missed that I think would have been called with two. Fortunately the Crunch goalies (switched in 3rd after 4th goal) were Chad Johnson-like and let in a couple soft goals. There was a small but vocal group of Amerks fans. One funny guy kept yelling, "Let's go Amerks" that the whole rink could hear.
  2. They'll probably put Moulson up on Eichel's line. They have to keep Matt's wife happy so she'll keep doing Jack's laundry.
  3. Not really, they used the same format a couple weeks ago that also had O'Malley. And this one was already scheduled, while tonight is one of the new ones. I know one of the new debates will be in Flint. These formats don't get publicized as much as the debates. I guess the networks think confrontational formats are better for ratings and give them more publicity.
  4. It wasn't a debate, it was a "town hall meeting". The debate is Thurs night on MSNBC.
  5. He's taking the bullet for the John Scott trade.
  6. The difference is I don't think Trump believes everything he says, but I think Cruz believes what he says. Given what he says, that makes Cruz scarier.
  7. "Carson told reporters earlier in the night that he planned to go to Florida for a day to get “fresh clothes” after 18 days on the campaign trail; the campaign pushed back against “false media reports” that Carson was suspending his campaign, while one prominent Cruz surrogate – Rep. Steve King – championed a CNN tweet describing Carson’s as a sign the retired pediatric neurosurgeon was getting out of the race."
  8. Rut-roh, dirty tricks already? Dr. Ben Carson and his campaign accused Sen. Ted Cruz’s team of sabotaging Carson in the Iowa caucuses Monday night by encouraging Cruz supporters to tell voters at their caucus sites – incorrectly – that Carson was dropping out of the race. “It was happening all over,” Iowa State Director Ryan Rhodes told MSNBC. “One of the precincts Candy [Carson, the candidate’s wife] walked into, she had to correct the record. She actually walked in, in Ankeny, and gave a speech about no, he’s still in the race and that’s a lie.” “That is really quite a dirty trick,” Carson told reporters on Monday night. ”I want [my supporters] to recognize this makes me more determined than ever to keep going.” “To have campaigns come out and send emails to their caucus speakers suggesting that Dr. Carson was doing anything but moving forward after tonight is the lowest of low in American politics,” Carson campaign manager Ed Brookover told reporters. Carson’s state co-chair, Rob Taylor, was more blunt, saying “This is horses—t, bottom line.” “You can bleep it out all you want, but Iowans understand,” added Taylor, who is also a state representative and chair of the ethics committee in the state legislature. He said he will be releasing an official statement Tuesday “as to the potential ethical misconduct of the Cruz campaign.” http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/carson-other-campaigns-sabotaged-us-dirty-tricks
  9. Ugh, Ted Cruz. He is the worst of the Repubs. I can only hope he goes the way of previous Iowa winners Bachmann, Huckabee, and Santorum.
  10. This is my all-time favorite insurance commercial. I laughed out loud when I saw it. My.wife didn't. We have to remember these first couple of states are not really representative of the country, so while it may reduce the field, the real indicators won't be until the March primaries. The networks have nothing better to do so they oversell their importance. And I say that even if Clinton wins Iowa.
  11. He was born in Canada, so the Ted Cruz rule would be in effect.
  12. Great, now every time I see this commercial I think of N'eo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST0cR2-JcZ0
  13. I have no problem with visiting team fans buying available single game tickets to fill the arena. What I don't like are all the STHs who sell their tickets so the lower bowl looks like a road game.
  14. So much for Bernie running a clean campaign: Operatives from Bernie Sanders' campaign have donned Culinary union pins and secured access to employee areas inside Strip hotels to try to garner votes for the Feb. 20 caucus, sources confirm. "It's inappropriate for any campaign to attempt to mislead Culinary Union members, especially at their place of work," said Yvanna Cancela, Local 226's political director, who confirmed multiple reports at hotels. "As of yet, the union has not made an endorsement, but is focused on a major citizenship and voter registration campaign while preparing for contract negotiations." https://www.ralstonreports.com/blog/sanders-workers-are-masquerading-culinary-members-campaign-inside-hotels
  15. I'm glad you finally agree it doesn't matter, and that the Repubs are using it to fog the electorate.
  16. Interesting timing of the release of more Clinton email information right before the caucus. Of course people are jumping all over the news without regard to the details, when the fact remains that the emails were not labelled as classified when they were sent, and have been labelled as such after the fact. So more of the same. Regardless, Clinton is calling for them to be released to show that there is an overreach of labelling this information retroactively.
  17. I don't blame Trump, I blame his supporters who found someone who says what they think. He's just PT Barnum. Paul and Kasich are the only ones who give answers that consider the consequences of actions. Which is why they have no chance. The rest just try to show who's the toughest and dislike Obama and Clinton the most. Is anyone keeping a record of all the things they're going to do on Day 1?
  18. I find it infuriating when the candidates make rediculous statements that are factually wrong, but the moderators don't press them to give details. The most common is that our military is in shambles and they will rebuild it. The US spends more on the military than the next 8 countries combined. What more does it need and where's the money coming from? Is this their version of corporate welfare to create jobs? What is this grand scheme to defeat ISIS that is different than current policy but doesn't include US troops? They talk about the reduced number of aircraft. But that is because there are more multi-role aircraft that replace quantity with quality, approved by the Republican majority in Congress. And there is an increased number of drones. In Syracuse a few years ago the fighter wing was replaced by drones that operate out of the same base. Less aircraft and support personnel carrying out the same duties.
  19. @GlobeKPD GOP debate sans Trump is the all-day whale watch that spots only dolphins, harbor seals and floating tires.
  20. He also won the 1st season of Trump's Celebrity Apprentice.
  21. An interesting story about how The Wounded Warrior Project is run and spends donations. It appears that it's not as focused on spending on the wounded as much as they claim. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/28/us/wounded-warrior-project-spends-lavishly-on-itself-ex-employees-say.html?action=click&contentCollection=Opinion&module=MostPopularFB&version=Full&region=Marginalia&src=me&pgtype=article
  22. And Hillary was in Iowa today and will be again tomorrow. She can handle the busy schedule as she did as Sec of State. Obama probably figured after casually endorsing Hillary, it would be nice for Bernie to at least experience one day in the Oval Office.
  23. For those that wanted more Democrat debates, you'll be happy to know that NBC has offered to host an additional debate on Feb 4. O'Malley and Clinton have accepted, but Sanders and the DNC are so far not agreeing to participate or sanction. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/clinton-calls-sanders-join-democratic-debate-n505251
