He has to get quicker feet. Takes him too long to react right now. -

I am watching in a bar with no sound on the msg fèed and they showed replays of two Grigo plays. I thought he made a great d play on one and a world class pass on the other. For this he sits? Smarten up Ted your digging your own grave. -
This is the Fallacy, the 2nd overall pick couldn't do it so why should a 2nd rounder. The jump from Alabama to the NFL or any college to the NFL is a huge leap in terms of speed, strength and athleticism. Do some make immediate impact? Yes, Glenn did it (although he plateued) last year, but those are exceptions, not the rule. A 2nd rounder should contribute immediately on STs, situational play and specialty packages while shooting for a more consistent role in year 2. It is gravy when they exceed those expectations. Bills v Lions: SUH 3 tackles 1 asst 0 Sacks.

I liked what I saw of him with Armia, a pure shooter/finisher. Grigs has the ability to free these guys up and get them the bisquit in good positions. Armia had the hands to control and shoot. Until we see him with similar type players at the NHL level, the evaluation will be incomplete. JMHO.

If Oates or Bergeron are the consensus I will be happy. Others(Buttons, Dreger) have made comparisons in his game to Sakic, and his ability to make the right choices at the right time. If he does that, we will need another statue next to the French Connection and McJesus. Sakic is one of my all time favorites so I am biased.

I really do not get this. The Bills drafted 3 last year. Henderson played all year. Rookies, with the exception of very highly drafted ones, seldom make a huge impact in their first year. We got one who did. The other two have great pedigrees and should develop into serviceable players if not above average players. This idea that every draft pick should contribute and perform at max level immediately is just unrealistic. I wouldn't go overboard on trying to fill gaps on the Oline. That play has more misses than hits in my opinion.

What glaring need? We have players to fill those positions. Girgenson, Reinhart, 2015 pick, Ennis, Hodson Grigorenko. Or do you mean a glaring need for first ballot HOFers at every position?

What I didn't like was the swipe at Grigorenko and skill without will comment. Frankly I think TN is a bit over the top there. Grigs has steadily been improving. If he is a top end skill gut, put him with other skill guys so he can gain some confidence. The compete will come when he feels he is contributing on the score sheet as well as in the D zone.

That simply makes no sense. We should draft a position for the sake of the position and ignore the talent? I agree that a productive center is important, I offer: 1 Alex Ovechkin WSH L 65 43 24 67 2 Nicklas Backstrom WSH C 65 18 49 67 3 John Tavares NYI C 65 30 35 65 4 Evgeni Malkin PIT C 58 27 38 65 5 Jakub Voracek PHI R 64 19 46 65 6 Patrick Kane CHI R 61 27 37 64 7 Sidney Crosby PIT C 59 20 44 64 8 Tyler Johnson TBL C 63 24 38 62 9 Vladimir Tarasenko STL R 63 31 30 61 10 Jamie Benn DAL L 64 23 38 61 Even distribution of centers and non centers. and noticebly absent is Toews a perennial MVP candidate.

I like his net presence, he positions himself well to do something with the puck when he gets it whether by a pass or rebound. While they are similar, Boeser is just missing something in my book. I haven't quite put my finger on it and only seen two live games this year, plus his highlights. But I think both could be solid, GMTM type players.
-
Make it in the NHL by when? 1D out of the shoot? 3 pair minutes in season one? Your hope of plug and play fixes from the draft, FA or trades may be a bit optimistic. All these players will need time to acclimate to each other and find chemistry.

God forbid they do not capitalize during their window, I can see them in a similar position in a few years. They really depleted their ability to restock the shelves by trading away all their 1st rounders.

I would argue the above changes but yeah the futures should cover it.

Yes. The new plus the subtraction of the old. I also do not believe we are done adding talent to the roster and the farm. I like the type of players we are adding and believe we are heading in the right direction.

You keep repeating that fallacy that it is about one player nit is not. It is about many players, namely the old core. That is now gone. The process of getting rid of those started 3 years ago. We now have Risto,Zemgus, Samson, Zad, Bailey, Bogosian,Kane and 2015 picks whoever they may end up being. I am done with the tear down and what it entails, and look forward to the new house. But it was never about one player. That is simply the best case scenario.
