  1. But the value given up could have been retained if the Sabres waited until FA. This rush to stock the big club roster has drained the assets without fully restocking the system. That still may happen via trades, I.e Gus or Samson, but we did not address right wing, opened another hole on d and are loaded at center. We will have to pay Kane in 2 years and Risto and Gus. ROR is a nice player but a luxury not a necessity. I am glad he is generating excitement for many here, but he really doesn't do much for me. The key will be Eichel.
  2. I think your right.
  3. I like that Kane seems genuinely stoked about the kid.
  4. But in that top 6 4 are centers, something has to give, or that is not the top six
  5. So we traded for ROR to put him on the wing? Can't see it.
  6. cant see it. He might even be on the block.
  7. I have to believe there are more moves to come. We need another d and a rw
  8. The scroll on nbcsn stated Sabres team needs: starting goalie and depth at center. Not anymore.
  9. I have to give credit where it's due, GMTM has a set, no doubt about it.
  10. ...and Percy Harvin, don't know where he will play but Roy dared Sakic to ask and TM said sure why not.
  11. Compher as well according to Bob Mac
  12. you are not alone. Pin the trade threads. All of them.
  13. Out of Curiousity and laziness has a team ever gone from DFL to first in one year? In the Modern (post 1980) Era?
  14. Uh...no. We need Jack to complete the Kane Eichel Hamilton er Lehner coup.
  15. No you don't. You need a hot goalie. All NHL goalies are talented or they wouldnt be there. Tim Thomas, Anti Niemi, Fleury and Crawford are average to slightly above.
  16. Thank you. You captured exactly what rankles me about this trade.
  17. Neuvirth had to be jettisoned to be safe. He could have been had without giving any advantage to the Sens or anyone else in FA. In light of the market we overpaid for someone TM fixated on when all conditions indicated it was a buyers market.
  18. How many cups did Hasek win in a Sabres uniform? and if makes you feel better replace Hasek with Ryan Miller same result. It is not so much that we got a goalie who could be a HOFer, who knows, it is that with all the chips at his disposal he helps a division rival out of bind improves their draft options, takes on a dead salary and dead weight and probably could have gotten the equivalent from Vancouver or in FA.
  19. But he didn't win the shiny trophy until he had a 7 or 8 HOFer's in front of him. I don't overvalue the goalie position and tend to undervalue it. I certainly would not pay what Murray paid to a division rival to lessen their cap burden, give them the 18 and now 21 picks and allow them to lock up the rest of their young talent. Lack would have been sufficient at the cost of #51.
  20. TM acquired Neuvirth, Johnson and Linback. Beleive in any of them?
  21. Ditto. They needed to add a goalie at some point I just think they overpaid and did so in a manner that helps a division rival.
  22. Yes. Look at Montreal. They convinced themselves they were good enough to win it all riding Price's coattails. They were exposed. Hasek did not win Shyte until he had the Wing's HOF club in front of him. The Hawks on the other hand put the next guy up in and win bc they have the team around him. I don't value the goalie position as some do. But further, you help a division rival out of a bind and pay a premium to boot? Horse####!
  23. If I am Jack I think I might be thinking about a masters degree and then FA. If this is the move to TM makes to put talent around him.
  24. If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass when he hopped. Lack was available for a #2 (51?) and Neuvirth a FA along with Niemai, Raanta and a soon host of others. Crawford won the Cup 2x's and you would be hard pressed to find many who would rank him in the top 5 along with Lundquist, Price, Rinne, Rask Holtby, or Hell Dubnyk. Paying that for a position that can be filled with league average at least for the moment is poor asset management and poor judgment.
  25. My esteem for TM is eroding rapidly. This is a horrible trade even if Lehner is the next Hasek. It shows poor understanding of the market and a gross overpayment for a position that we could address in FA. This is the first instance where I am beginning to see the foundation of the Murray is planning to take the Sens job talk. Hate this to the point of ruining my Eichel Day.
