  1. That is an interesting distinction. There is definitely a different vibe to a (non-playoff) football game of which there are 16/17 all season vs. a Tuesday-night hockey game. But I think the main distinction between the Bills fan and the Sabres fan is one team's center spine/defensive structure/goaltending has Josh Allen and the other has Bills/Packers-era Vince Ferragamo.
  2. He didn't pan out because he was traded for ROR before playing a game with the Sabres? Compher's career has been fine -- he's played over 500 games, been a 2C/3C defensive zone-start heavy player his entire career and is a -9 (because of one season on a very bad Avalanche squad). He averages a point every other game.
  3. Granato was going to teach them defense, but then Ruff was available so they fired him and he never got around to it. 😇
  4. Odd. He got the win Friday night, but it wasn't a shutout. Why give him back-to-back nights? Just roll with the backup. Or more importantly, why is the backup Sandstrom and not Houser?
  5. Kasper. Edvinsson, Power, Dahlin, Byram, R Johnson and Samuelsson. Now that's a d-corps. 😇 This is the way.
  6. GM Sheevyn: Have you ever heard the tragedy of Darth Pegulas the Wise? Darth Pegulas the Wise: I have. Sheevyn: I thought not, it's not a story the.... Wait, what? Pegulas: I was in the room.
  7. Check that. At the game's conclusion, TNT, Cozens, Zucker, Byram, and Dahlin a combined -16. That's... uh... that's not gonna get it done.
  8. If the plan is to have him retire from coaching to move upstairs into some form of POHO role, then why wait? Let him get started on evaluating Appert (because it will be him) in the interim and then start the search for the next guy. Pegula is paying Ruff for this season and next either way.
  9. I'd add Zucker, Greenway, and a Kozak/Malenstyn. The guys who haven't been in Buffalo long enough to forget how to go about their hockey business.
  10. The solution is in the room. The Sabres take sole possession of 4th overall in the draft standings. Remember, this Kraken squad was on a 4-game losing streak and tied for Sabres in win percentage. The Kraken are garbage and headed for a lottery pick, too.
  11. Kozak got double-shifted at the end. Should've started sooner. Benson didn't stop skating until 00:02 left on the clock.
  12. This season he definitely has had a bunch of multiple goals-within-two-minute spots. When they need him to staunch the bleeding, he's gone and slashed the artery.
  13. Zucker, Cozens, Thompson, Byram, and Dahlin a combined -12 (Dahlin only -1)
  14. The Sabres have blown 14 leads this season, and are going for 15 today. That's bizarre.
  15. Check that. It'll be 6-2 by midway through the 3rd period.
  16. Nah. It's hard to make a trade on a weekend, especially during a game, especially against a team without income taxes and with palm trees. And yes, here in Seattle we can grow palm trees.
  17. For as solid as they played the first, they've unraveled twice as much. At this rate it'll be 6-2 after three.
  18. Buffalo is credited with 0 blocked shots through two periods, per NHL.com. Is that... accurate?
  19. ^ This. Ratzlaff and Milic were both fantastic in 22-23 when the T-Birds went to the Memorial Cup (winning the WHL championship over an outmatched Benson/Savoie) with a team of over-18ers and stockpiled talent. Last year and this year, the T-Birds have been a bunch of messy kids and he's been hung out to dry.
  20. Burakovksy is lucky he plays in the 2020s and not the 1990s. He loves just dawdling across the center of the ice inside the blue line. There's no Scott Stevens type lining him up.
  21. Quinn had a bunch more time to make a better shot, puck goes down the ice and the Kraken score. Dang. After being up at least 10 shots on goal, it's now 20-17 Sabres. Once more taking it easy after taking a good lead.
