That's twice Vanek tried to stickhandle and Pysyk just casually took the puck from him.
Yeah, I'll shut up now....

Good pass by Reinhart. It's like a movement from a small place to a bigger city.
-
Gionta goes back after Suter and Dubnyk. Everyone who chopped at him (for sliding the goalstick). I like his feistiness.
-
And... Larsson on the PP. Nice.
-
The last 5 minutes of the 1st were pretty bad, but we've been excellent keeping the puck in their zone this period. Now the chance on the double minor.
-
Kane. <headdesk>
Do we have an emoji for that ...? Yes we do. :wallbash:

Sam Bennett sucks. Still can't do a pull up.
And Johnny Hockey (sp?) is over hyped.
No no no, you spelled hockey right. ;-]

On slow mo replay it looked really cool. Labelled for top right corner, defenceman as a screen
Drifting along the blue line -- huge wingspan allowing him to leave it shortside as he crosses to the top of the point. I stick by what I said: perfectly accurate floater.
-
Phew. I mean, I shouldn't feel that much relief at a PP goal on a screened floater. But I do. (that said, what a perfectly accurate floater)

Please bury one of these 5 on 3's. Pass across the ice. Get confidence. Then just bury one.

Another grind line goal
Exactly. Now, if our top two lines coalesce next season, we've got a legitimate playoff-caliber team.

Interesting take...
I like this take. We just need Foligno the Younger to stay in a continual state of arrested development for the next 8 seasons.
-
Deslauriers... shoot more.

too many men....

OT -- possess the puck. That's all there is to it.
Eichel-Gionta-Risto v McDavid-Hall-Sekera.
-
Tsk tsk, RJ. Samson's sweet pass needn't be Eichel-like.
'Tis true. Was Samsonesque.

That was beautiful, Rheinhardtt

I Miss Mike peca
It's easy to miss a lot of the 97-99 squads. But Ward-Peca-Varada won't save us. Although -- watching Detroit-Colorado this weekend -- when do we get an outdoors game where we can bring back our 99 squad in an alumni match?

Per Edmonton broadcast, Cracknell was a waiver pickup.
Now --- he's not what I thought he might be after watching that playoff series a couple years back (for the Blues, maybe?) --- but he is big and checks. I guess my one confusion with the team's makeup is I figured our bottom 6 would be angrier. Sure, Moulson's demotion impacts that. But it seems like we're missing a heavy guy or two overall. The Anaheim model. And instead, we call up Catenacci, and have Moulson, Gionta...

Have I meantioned how much I hate the oilers? Since day one.
Let there be Light. Let there be Oilers. Let the hate flow through you...
And it was good.

For sure we have improved, but what we have now + maturation does not equal the team we are all waiting for.
We need more.
Fully agree. We still need a top-line scoring winger and a top-pairing defenseman. And the experience of the kids growing. I expect we get one of those two with a top-...what-... top-six pick this offseason? Trade for the other? But we can't get every piece all at once.
-
You got that right.
This is why I'm in tank mode now.
We need way more pieces.
True. But we're 60 games removed from two of the worst seasons in recent memory for any franchise. A handful of better pieces. Improvement/aging for existing pieces. But we're on our way.
The PP and PK have improved.
At the all-star break I was hoping for an even or plus GF/GA differential for the rest of the season. Then O'Reilly got hurt.... The improvement 5 on 5 is critical next season.

Pretty much everything was outside, though. One decent chance that entire minute? (Sure, it didn't look good... but it wasn't stomach-churning.)

Nice. Very different scoring standards in those out-of-lockout seasons. But still a nice stat. And we've still got 17 games left to play.
Wild announcers just called this an awkward period. I'd say the Sabres have made it awkward for them by upping the pressure.
