  1. Can confirm, staves off the boobs :(
  2. Nah, but he's the pickiest bugger you'll ever face... all he wants is a modern/reliable early 90s land yacht. course, the fact that he's juuust tall enough to be uncomfortable in most sedans/compacts complicates things.
  3. I don't wanna hear it. All you manly men can dial back the beer for a week or cut dessert or add a leisurely mile walk to your day and drop 10 pounds no problem. Exhibit A: Dark. He has had a cold which he lovingly passed to me. He didn't drink a beer for about a week... drops pounds, looks thinner, pants literally falling off. What the hell man I'm out here busting my ass 1-3 hours every day working out, pushups, chinups, lifting human beings, weights, my own fat a$$, anything I can, have cut my food intake back and don't drink except on 1-2 on weekends/more at rare events and I have yet to drop an inch or a pound. If anything I look worse. I'm terrified to ever go to a place like Gold's cuz I'm not a fit chick. Stupid body goin' "b!tch you gotta bear them babies n you need that fat" oh and my playlists for sweating usually are made of sh!tty 2000s "metal", crappy 2010s edm jock jams, early 90s hip hop, weird sh!t like Die Antwoord, better stuff like Rob Zombie, throw some Major Lazer, weird electronica and MIA in there. And missy elliott. You have to have missy if you're putting up with spandex riding up your a$$ crack.
  4. It's... good...? to be back. Nothing can be as dysfunctional as my last job. If I could make it through that for 5 years I can handle a couple weeks of being completely confused. I swear to god I have ptsd from that nightmare. Not to lessen the experience of those with actual ptsd, mind you. But yeah, I get nauseous anytime I see posts by those people or about game design in general. These guys are already paying me just shy of what I was making at my zenith at the last place. Last place- started at 5/hr, denied benefits for 2 years, after 3 years was paid significantly less than college interns who were answering to me, no training or onboarding. New place- not even full time yet, but everything's laid out nicely. I'll take it. I'd watch paint dry if they paid me.
  5. Y'all are awesome. Thanks so much. I'll feel a bit less nervous in two weeks if they keep me. But even so- I already feel like a huge weight has been taken off my shoulders.
  6. hahah oh god it's so mediocre "sea glass pearl"
  7. Thank you. I was gonna go for something pithy about meltdowns and fragile notions... but yeah, the song (i had to go look it up) is about being weak towards a woman he's got the ol' butterflies for. Not his inability to afford a house because of his overwhelming addiction to avocado toast.
  8. I want to believe. Yeah, they actually said that they feel I'm too talented/experienced, but I feel that's incorrect- I'm a beast in what I do, but this job is not at all what I do. It's all new to me. She said "I'm used to interviewing the college grad, not the college professor". They don't think they need to do a further in person interview. Just gonna officially offer me a position and trial it out for a few weeks. You got it. I'd rather be bored in a growing company with good people in it making a steady paycheck than fighting the road I've been fighting for awhile. If this is what I'm facing at a place where I have a connection, it makes sense that no one else has called me. I don't fit. But if I work here, I get those skills, should I find myself in a new town or something, I will then have an easier time finding a stable gig. So yep. Bout as positive as I could've hoped for! Even their lowest paygrade is probably 2 or 3 times what I'm making now!
  9. Well that was fascinating. To summarize- I'm an anomaly and they have no idea what to do with me, but they're going to bring me in for a couple of weeks to work and learn about the company and such and after those two weeks, if I'm not absolutely bored to death (her words not mine), we'll go from there. Works for me! It's the foot in the door I need in that world.
  10. I've had good eggplant and bad eggplant and find it quite delicious if done right. It's a good meat substitute if you're tight on cash or exploring other options- like portobello mushrooms. And yes. I've been snickering to myself about all the gents on here freaking out about eggplant- to us millennial social media addicted miscreants, eggplant=d!ck.
  11. I almost asked if that was Ronda! Beautiful town. First bullfighting ring, too. On the trip up there, you can see Gibraltar and the coast of Africa on a clear day.
  12. Absolutely. Once upon a time I was playing hockey 2-3x a week, doing aerials 2-3x a week, teaching at RIT 2x a week, volunteering at the barn on Saturday mornings, doing freelance AND working full time. I about died. I said to my friend "something's gotta break" and little did I know it would be my leg that night at hockey... boy that slowed things down haha I won't do that to myself again. If this pans out, I have to keep teaching at the studio, but I'll be able to say no to freelance I don't need/want. I get a lot of... odd stuff. And I do it because it's a buck. It'll be liberating to be able to turn some of that down. Phone interview at 4. If that goes well they'll bring me in. I'm over thinking everything. Doesn't help my voice is nearly gone today.. hope she doesn't mind my sexy Lauren Bacall croak... Thanks for all the kind wishes, guys.
  13. I just got an amazing freelance gig starting up next week. And tonight, one hour ago, on a freaking Saturday night no less st Patrick’s day, I got what is essentially a full time job offer from the marketing firm less than a mile from our apartment. They think I’m over qualified but a friend there said no, you want her. I go for an interview sometime this week. I’m finally finding my feet again. It won’t be easy juggling all that and my teaching at the studio but I also won’t be facing bankruptcy. And I can contribute again. And get groceries without fear. And my god I’m just crying.
  14. Force of habit
  15. Anyone going to the Beauts/Pride playoff game tonight? I think d4rk and I are gonna try to make it
  16. I will admit to being a fan of the Packard/other automotive murals in the garage. Those could be really nice. Just... the rest of it... cocaine nutjob 0rgy clown feverdream
  17. Oh now this.. this is a house. https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/450-W-Grixdale_Highland-Park_MI_48203_M37779-89409#photo31
  18. May 18-20th i believe - Nickel City Comic Con. I've never done a con either. I was supposed to be out of town that weekend, but kinda feel like I should stick around for this if it happens.
  19. If anyone wants to go to the Buffalo Comic Con, yours truly might be there with the Beauts handing out/selling signed copies of a Buffalo themed mini episode of Kicking Ice. Finishing up the cover today! I'm nervous and excited- I haven't made it to a Beauts game yet and I feel like shmuck because of it.
  20. Y’all are gentlemen and scholars.... I kid. That’s absolutely not true. But that’s why these meet ups are so neat- everyone’s great and fascinating- and what makes for good forum discussion background/personality shines through tenfold as really interesting in person. May be the delirium tremens talking, but yeah. Glad to see you all again- don’t be strangers! No one let Woody have ice cubes ever again
  21. Look at these sausage lovers
  22. When it rains it pours. Friend at company I want to work at and have applied to said the CEO loves everything I do but they think I'm too experienced for the job that's available. Which isn't true. So that might still happen. At the same time, a friend at Marvel is seeing if she can get me in their banks as a cover artist. That would include Star Wars. Squirrel Girl, Spider Gwen and Viv (vision's daughter) are the three they'd want me for. Mainly because of my aerial stuff, believe it or not. And what I'm doing for the NWHL comic books. Maybe this drought is coming to an end? Can I do it all? I will sure as hell try. Lord knows I've been working at it.
  23. oh noo you think he's loud now...
  24. Watching a guy I knew in college who raped my friend, tried to roofie me, and stole my wallet have his no talent having ass's sh!ttily drawn comic turned hopeful tv show's pilot picked up in LA sure feels great Happy international women's day hoorayyy
  25. I mean, I tip when I take a cab somewhere- in fact when you pay in a NYC cab, if I remember correctly a little screen comes up and asks you to tip 10, 15 or 20%. I'd definitely tip my driver unless they said they couldn't accept due to company policy. But I'm a big tipper no matter what. I know plenty of shmucks who don't bother. Ah that would make sense. Good ol' Gig Economy. I saw where they are starting Uber Health... aka ambulance/driver to your doc appts https://www.uberhealth.com/ Says a bit about our med systems, but super useful for those who live alone/have daytime appts and can't drive.
