  1. I'm woefully behind but I started watching Black Mirror last night. Everyone always told me that they're not outright scary but just fu*k with you on a weird level- they were right. Unsettling. So far each ep reminds me a lot of the weird short stories I used to read in high school- the visualizations are really nice, though. I also enjoy seeing such a wide variety of good actors in each episode.
  2. First time I went to Paris- hated it. We had garbage thrown at our bus for being American, it was crowded, hectic and awful. Of course, we were also in tourist central. Second time I went I spent a month there, and it remains one of my favorite places on Earth. Parisians are only stereotypically rude if one acts stereotypically belligerent/touristy. I found it to be a fun, open, welcoming city. And watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle every evening from the roof of my hostel while drinking wine and eating all things Nutella didn't suck. Art kid dream. I'm glad you got to enjoy some of it!!
  3. God both of these teams win in OT regularly... 30 rounds of shootout here we go
  4. We finally hit the net with one of those instead of Bertuzzi’s shins!
  5. Unrelated but I will also maintain that the Sabres and the Red Wings have my favorite logos/colors (when we’re royal).... I’m biased but it’s SUCH a good matchup. Bubble hockey blue vs red. Visual feast. They just all look good.
  6. My boy Zetterberg is gone. Lidstrom is gone. Datsyuk is gone. Franzen is gone. Kronner is still there and Howard but... ehh While I’ll continue to follow the Wings, I don’t really like anyone on that team that much. Never was an abdelkader fan. Larkin and Athanasiou are cool but... our dudes are more interesting. They’re not my team anymore. I’m full on Sabres side these days and have been for a year or two. Even when Z was still playing, I didn’t like Tatar and Glendening and Nyquist holding it together. They’re looking better than they were but it’s not the team I loved. *braces for someone to call me a flip flopping fake piece of sh!t band wagoner* that being said said I HAVE followed Detroit and they’ve won a lot of games the way we have. Late goals and OT wins. This could be a fascinating third.
  7. It’s nice to be in Ohio watching the Sabres on a local channel ? oh oh yeah have a super neon annoying scribble I did of Jeff Skinner. Trying to bring myself back into the world again.
  8. That... that is my ultimate nightmare. I was on a long flight with someone going through that. It was pretty accepted that that particular lavatory was theirs- mutual crowd decision to just let them have it. Flight attendants were great with bags on hand as needed. I'm so sorry you went through that man... I know sometimes they divert flights for that, or won't let the person on. I managed a flight with chicken pox once- the itchy spots didn't show up until after I'd gone through the hellish flu symptoms that go with it- and they hit me as I was sitting at the gate. Still nothing close to what you dealt with! I made it through, I'm not totally back to normal, but I manged most of a plate of Thanksgiving before I knew it was time to throw the towel in. But dark still hasn't gotten it so... hoorayy
  9. god I miss coffee Didn't touch it until end of junior year of college. Then I was bloody addicted. At my worst I was chugging down 7+ big cups with double shots of espresso in them (not to mention the additional red bulls) a day, and was still nowhere near as bad as my animation friends who were drinking 4-5 pots a day. How our kidneys work now is beyond me. Then I calmed it down and was pretty normal about it, 1 cup a day usually... and now I can't touch it at all, lest I spend the next hour making my own special brew. But black usually, sometimes some fancy caramel or vanilla latte. Never got into those sugar bombs everyone gets from Sbucks and such. There was one drink at RIT that I'd get occasionally - the Terrapin at Java's - espresso, hot chocolate, coffee, caramel I think? and whipped cream and sprinkles. Only very rarely, but so damn good.
  10. haha we actually racked our brains to see if I had, because it's just been going on and on and dark hasn't gotten it yet... but nope. I hadn't puked from anything besides alcohol/allergy to alcohol in over 13 years until Sunday night... that means some of high school, all of college, all of teaching college, multiple trips around the world, performances, one whole job... not once. Guess the streak had to end sometime. I think it's my usual horrible problems complicated by either food poisoning or a bug. But it's been 2 days since the worst of it and my body is so weak that it honestly hurts to type right now. Doesn't help I had to do 12 hours of work yesterday... another 4 right now and more after I fly today... and I was so violently ill that I ripped all of my ab/back muscles. Feels bad, man. Skinniest I've been in a long time though...
  11. Can't shake this stomach flu. Been sick since Saturday. Have to fly in a few hours- have severe flight anxiety- looks like it'll be a rough flight (windy)... I'm not visibly sick anymore (both ends are relatively quiet for once) but god.. I feel so sh!tty still. I'm terrified I'm going to relapse on the flight. Never been airsick in my life but today might break that... someone just want to shoot me?
  12. I don't like the way we are winning, but we ARE winning, if not on sheer tenacity alone, which is something I haven't seen in years.
  13. Yeah this has been my experience. I learn by doing. Following tutorials only helps so much... it's getting into something and making a mess that actually drives the points home. When I taught, some of my students- all they needed was Lynda and one demo and they were golden. Others only got it if I sat with them and showed them in context (that's more how I learn, too). I do know the basics of the languages, some do's and dont's in organization and such, but I'm just as clueless if you gave me a stylesheet to edit as I was before I put 30 some hours into tutorials. My good friend is a front end dev at MailChimp- she says I should just get on github and try to make something.
  14. I'll take a look! So far I've only been made aware of Udemy, Codecademy, and Treehouse.
