  1. I don’t believe they’re sign and trades. They are acquiring the UFA rights which includes the rights to sign the player to an 8 year deal. Also forgot Seth Jones obviously isn’t a UFA so he is definitely just signing the deal with Chicago.
  2. Psst Vancouver doesn’t have 9
  3. Really like Emily Kaplan’s work so I’m glad to see her with the scoop here. This return is the most interesting of the day - really curious about what it is.
  4. Giddyup I hope we can finally put the Seth Jones rumors to bed
  5. Because the Coyotes forfeited the 11th pick. 14th pick, 13th player.
  6. Friedman says Arizona also got a 2022 2nd and a 7th
  7. No, it’s just a stupid practice to partake in. There is a massive gap in the situations here. I think Arizona did fine because not a single one of those salaries they took back matters in a year. Also: Arizona just got a top 10 pick. Could they …… swing at Eichel?
  8. I think Chuck Fletcher is absolutely correct.
  9. He was a huge fan of the 2011 Cup final.
  10. Arizona had two options to deal OEL because he would only go to Vancouver or Boston and has a bad long-term contract and was attached to Connor Garland. Trying to compare these trades is fantasy but has no use.
  11. A lot of people saying if there’s not an Eichel deal right behind this that the Goodrow and Buchnevich deals are a disaster. To that I say: okay, sure, but two bad deals aren’t made better by anything separate. They’re bad deals regardless. You could’ve sold Buchnevich for more AND made the Eichel deal.
  12. You can’t. They’re not comparable assets.
  13. Wow. That’s a bad trade for the Rangers but also kind of funny considering every Rangers fan tried claiming he was a centerpiece in an Eichel deal.
  14. I assume there wouldn’t be an issue. Russ Brandon worked for both teams at the same time. Edit: okay, “worked” isn’t a great word here.
  15. This is precisely correct. Based on the value in this league it was a smashing success.
  16. Unless there’s an unexpected drop I’m hoping for Sillinger, Wallstadt or Lucius in that order.
  17. Indeed. The only direct evidence we have is that it’s a lottery pick. So are the picks immediately around it. You could say “okay, every single draft there was a better player picked within the first ten picks after 13” but those individual picks year by year are still similarly shaky lists. 14 is definitely less of a crap shoot than 13, oddly.
