NHL creating bye week starting next season: http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/40094/rumblings-nhl-giving-teams-bye-week-in-next-seasons-schedule Teams will get a full week off once per year. To clarify it: it's a five-day bye week. Teams will have it between January 1st and February 28th. No practicing in that time.

They've been much better than expected aside from their record. Maybe Babcock really does know a thing or two. Dallas is such an interesting team right now. They're dominating and capitalizing on their opportunities. Is that something they can continue or are they do for a "puck luck" slump? I do agree that sometimes you create your own puck luck, though. Have to get guys who can finish. There's been some beautiful opportunities on the sticks of guys like Moulson and Kane where they just whiffed bad. Hopefully Kane's time off has helped him refocus a bit.

Pretty notable graphic when it comes to the argument that the Sabres puck luck has been crap. http://www.tsn.ca/stars-attack-proving-balanced-and-relentless-1.396442 They're getting the second most shots in close per game but are in the bottom five for goals for there.

Bylsma's comments on Zemgus make me wonder if he's not a fit. I haven't been in love with his play this year. Feels like he's pushing it a bit. Anybody got ideas on players with similar value? Zemgus and Gorges for Vlasic (LHD - SJ)?

I don't think trading for OEL is at all realistic, but I do enjoy talking about it. I also disagree with huckleberry' thought that OEL isn't much better than Risto. I love Risto and think he's got a super high ceiling but he's not near OEL.

It'd be like trading a ham sandwich for a ham sub with a side of potato chips and a coupon. Risto would fill their OEL hole and has a ton of potential then they'd target two or three other needs with the other pieces. Could center it on Reinhart and use Pysyk/McCabe along with other pieces for quantity.

I definitely disagree. I think OEL is an elite defender who would have at least one Norris on a better team, but he's not worth the second best prospect in the game (who has already shown he can play and is one of the top prospects of the last decade). Reinhart could enter the convo, but I think Risto would absolutely have to be the centerpiece as Arizona already has a ton of young forwards. Then Reinhart, Ennis and picks are the other options.

Pysyk is out second or third best defenseman depending on what Bogo plays like now that he's healthy. I hope this isn't going to be a trend.
