  1. Fake Bob McKenzie, ignore... Cmon people we're better than this. (Potato posted a fake Bob tweet saying Fowler to the Sabres was finalized) Here's another Twitter tip: Bob McKenzie has a MILLION followers. Check that and also recognize that most of the big guys don't use hashtags because they don't need to draw attention to their tweets.
  2. They don't need to trade him immediately, though. They will get value. Ennis isn't overpaying. I love Ennis, but if we could get Fowler with Tyler being the main piece going back that'd be good news.
  3. If it was Draisaitl, Hall and 4 I wouldn't think it's that crazy, but it's Yakupov. I say no. Friedman said Montreal may have asked for Duchene, Barrie and 10 from Colorado.
  4. Speaking of Kessel, there was just a cool story about Pittsburgh making a decision on Kessel vs Oshie on NHL Network. There was talk last year about Pittsburgh sitting alone on the draft floor and Rutherford getting into a heated argument with other staffers. Some staffers were trying to convince GMJR to offer the package they gave to Toronto to St. Louis for Oshie instead. Rutherford refused and got Kessel. Safe to say it was the right move.
  5. Stars sign Jordie Benn to three-year contract. Could have tested free agency. Played 64 games last season with 15:39 average TOI. $1.1M per year.
  6. CBC radio host Kosta Papoulias: #Oilers have offered Dreiseidl, Yakupov & the 4th overall pick to the #Habs for PK & 3rd round pick. MB waiting on CBL & VAN. #mtlhockey
  7. At the risk of derailing the thread - I agree. I think Bergevin played it a little too loose on this which is why the media continues to focus on that. It'd take the world.
  8. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/30-thoughts-trading-p-k-subban-realistic-possibility/ 30 Thoughts. Mentions Ennis to Anaheim for Fowler is possible (posted in Fowler thread). Says Buffalo is in on Kulikov along with Boston and Colorado. Carolina a possible spot for Fleury. Per another report Arizona is no longer pursuing Shattenkirk.
  9. Nathan Gerbe signs in the Swiss League
  10. Friedman says Murray is willing to move Ennis in this deal: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/30-thoughts-trading-p-k-subban-realistic-possibility/
  11. I think we'd still have plenty. We'll have future picks and draft picks from this year and recent years to play with.
  12. The thread title made me want to post "Prom Tonight" from Not Another Teen Movie but then I watched it again and remembered how highly inappropriate it is. Anyways: LET IT BEGIN!
  13. And that's mostly okay if Shattenkirk signs an extension. The point of trade assets is to liquefy them at some point, right?
  14. I don't think it's impossible. If we do I think we likely don't get too serious on Stamkos, but I think we also move Bogo either in one of the deals or for separate assets. Also, I forgot to mention one key piece from Custance: A new deal for Shattenkirk is expected to be 8 years at $6-7M per season.
  15. http://espn.go.com/blog/craig-custance/insider/post?id=7978 Good stuff from Custance. Says Hampus Lindholm is not going anywhere. Also says Boston, Buffalo and the Rangers are expected to be the lead on Shattenkirk. Sounds like the Oilers are out because Shattenkirk will not stay there long term. Mentions Arizona but Shattenkirk wants to be on the East coast. Rangers are trying to move salary. Rick Nash won't accept a trade to Canada.
  16. Dreger: Appears to be lots of interest in Florida defenseman Dmitry Kulikov. Nothing close, but worth watching as the day unfolds. Chris Johnston believes Shattenkirk may be dealt today.
  17. I'm also not giving a 2017 1st for Fowler. That pick enters the conversation for guys like Shattenkirk, but I'm not giving it up for Fowler unless we've already added a significant player elsewhere (Stamkos, Okposo, etc). The 1st plus Pysyk, Baptiste and a 3rd is a pretty insane price. Also, there has been talk that LA is interested in Pysyk. I know there has been a suggestion about Mark Pysyk for Tanner Pearson. If we move Ennis and Girgs or Foligno for Fowler then maybe we try to flip Pysyk for Pearson.
  18. Buccigross: Buffalo, New York becomes the first American city to host the NHL Draft three times. (1998, 1991). #NHLDraft2016
  19. Recent reports are that Rutherford feels confident that they can keep both and, worst case, trade Fleury at the deadline. I think that's a bad play. Goalie trades at the deadline are damn near impossible. Custance says the Jets are dangling 22 looking for LHD and a top-nine forward. I would think Fowler is of interest there, too.
  20. I think McCabe will be a top-four defender in his prime. If we pickup Fowler and draft somebody this year it will give us Risto, Fowler, McCabe, Guhle and 8 to toy with in the future.
  21. The Pens revealed their new roads (their homes are just the throwbacks they wore all year and in the playoffs): https://twitter.com/penguins/status/746342538290692097 These are great.
  22. I think I got a little buyer's remorse before the deal even occurred. I think Fowler's possession stats don't paint a remotely fair picture of the player he is, but they're certainly worrying. And I do agree that there's a pretty solid chance that whatever dman we get at eight would be as good or better than Fowler in a few years, so I don't want to blow the asset plus more in the name of impatience. I hope we do land Fowler, but I think we can do it without eight being involved.
  23. After originally being firmly for it I am now completely against the 8th pick being involved in a deal for Fowler even if we get a first back. I am still firmly FOR trading 8+ for Lindholm, but I don't think that's an option anymore. With Fowler interest being so high around the league I would expect this has solidified Lindholm in Anaheim.
  24. The Flames expect to leave Buffalo with a starting goalie. Ben Bishop and Brian Elliott the two likely names at this point.
  25. He's not. He can sign an extension this summer, though.
