  1. Crazier things have happened. He clearly talked like he was told big things were coming immediately for him. Maybe he wasn’t promised but told. Players have also refused to play or made a fuss after trades or acquisitions before. See: Lemieux just a few years ago. I don’t know that TT 2.0 is that type.
  2. One of the biggest problems facing this team right now is that they have several winnable games left. Week 10 @ NYJ Week 12 vs Jacksonville Week 13 @ Miami Week 14 vs NYJ Week 15 vs Detroit Week 17 vs Miami The last thing this team needs is a run of a few wins there at the end. Lose them all (preferably). Nobody will convince me there’s any relevance or benefit to winning a single game the rest of this season. The New England game is the only game I don’t see them having a shot in. Jacksonville SHOULD be better, especially with Fournette coming back so hopefully that one, too. Detroit SHOULD run us over but Matt Stanford doesn’t seem comfortable this season.
  3. Eichel was completely invisible except when he was trying to play pickup Hockey getting fancy and passing to nobody. ERod was terrible tonight. Risto is dead to me. Scandella continues his bad play. Everything else seemed fine.
  4. Getting a point out of tonight would be nice but they really should be winning this game. A lot of little mistakes and Henrik playing at a Vezina level.
  5. It’s getting way easier to believe the advanced stats book on him
  6. He’s been so lazy on the power play. Seems almost bored if he doesn’t have a chance to shoot.
  7. Team just not precise tonight. A lot of good looks going wide of the net, pucks on the heel of the stick.
  8. It’d be really cool if Risto could hit someone’s tape on the power play. Constantly dumping it in Jack’s skates. Also, how many times will a Sabre get someone to go down on the shot fake then shoot it right into the downed player? Carry to the middle and get a clean look.
  9. Did you consider reading the post? The question isn’t “why isn’t TT 2.0 tearing up the NHL.”
  10. I don’t think he was really “being practiced as a defenseman.” I think he was just filling in a spot as a guy they knew would be scratched.
  11. Nobody was making an argument, just pointing out a possibility.
  12. I have a feeling the team guaranteed him some good time with the big club when the trade happened. The way Botterill and Housley talked about him having a big chance then Thompson said he was looking forward to a top-six role that fit his playing style more. I think he should be sent down. I don’t think anyone needs to come up immediately to “replace” him since he’s just sitting.
  13. Obvious answer to this is you hope the team isn’t paying attention and/or doesn’t care, but does the Bills sucking this mightily today add pressure to the Sabres tonight?
  14. Meanwhile: Sam Darnold was brutal today. Four picks including a pick six.
  15. I’m sure a lot of older teams could shed some old guys and add younger guys to bring their average age down. That’s how averages work. But the fact is they are older than any other team. Not trying to be snarky, it’s just how their situation is right now. They’re old and slow. They absolutely could change that with a few tweaks but until they do this is how they have to play.
  16. Big Ben just went down with what looks like it could be a bad right shoulder injury. Maybe they’re the team that calls Sam Bradford. EDIT: he’s back in.
  17. I mean, does it matter if we put someone out there even if they have never been in the same room as our playbook?
  18. The Kings are tied with the Wild and Golden Knights as the oldest rosters in the league. I think they’ve got the reputation they’ve earned.
  19. I imagine Tyler is one they’d hold tightly too, you’re correct. It is exciting to think about the possibility of picking apart bad teams to improve down the stretch, though. I will admit this team isn’t there yet. You always have to keep an eye out for the right deal but I’m still focused exclusively on what’s here and what’s in Rochester right now.
  20. I do wonder if the Kings consider flipping some players to remake their roster. They’ve got a few young players who I would add. Tyler Toffoli would be great. Pearson is off to a bad start and could be a cheap change of scenery type. Muzzin and Martinez are two guys I’d have interest in, too.
  21. Didn’t see that but I’m sure there was. I don’t think the Bills get any real reffing disadvantage (the refs won them the Falcons game last year). I do think talent generally gets you more calls which this team hasn’t had in a long time.
  22. It was the right call. I’m also still not sure it wasn’t tipped at the line on top of that.
  23. I would’ve disagreed with any assessment that Croom is useful before that fumble but that just made it easier.
  24. After.
