Weird note - the Sabres have a stretch at the need of January where they don’t play a single game for ten days. It must be their week off and then part of it is the all star break.

I think there’s a ton of competition out west. Minnesota might regress again but they look good. San Jose and Calgary are both supremely talented and performing like it.

On one of the rushes for the Sabres a moment ago the Jets player came off the ice but he was a good three strides from the bench while his replacement was already engaging the puckhandler.

It’s so easy to just push that to the wall and sit or just reverse it back. Anything other than trying to squeeze it by the one guy that’s a danger in that moment.

The marriage to “first line” “second line” and beyond is something hockey fans will never shake. If you acquire another center is barely changes anything for Mittelstadt. Sure, you can “protect” him a little more but if, over the next few years, he develops as we hope he can easily get top two or three center minutes on a team that’d be able to run three good lines out there. I think a deep team competing into the playoffs would be ideal for his development.

The leading scorer in that stretch? Tyler Ennis with one goal and five assists. Foligno had three goals and an assist. Moulson two goals and two assists. The last time they won four out of five before their current stretch was March 17, 2017 to March 27, 2017.

I don’t think the Sharks will be “high.” Probably in the 20s this year. The Blues remains to be seen if we get it this year or next.
