For the record, I prefer this. The playoffs start tomorrow. The draft isn't for several months. Give me playoff content, I'll get my draft content later. Only gripe: don't call the show NHL Draft Lottery.

This is basically a playoff show with the lottery tossed in.

Updated Todd McLellan OUT of the Running Sabres HC Position
Hoss replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I am 100% here for a coach calling out his players with the assumption that he's driving them hard internally, too. Now if the coach goes to the media with complaints he hasn't given to a player multiple times then there's an issue. I have zero concern over what Edmonton fans have to say about Todd McLellan. Nobody likes to lose. -

Karin Housley is a racist idiot. -

For anybody rooting for Boudreau, Fenton says he is staying in Minnesota. -
Welcome! Hopefully you bring some luck to the Sabres tonight.

I don’t think the Canes will be looking for a new coach. -

On MH: I was thinking more along the lines of LA stealing Zatkoff from us. -

Friendly reminder that we don’t actually know what we’re talking about when it comes to coaching in the NHL and nobody knows the formula. To get worked up, one way or the other, is silly.- 571 replies

I don’t have the time to link but his comments today do not inspire confidence, at all. For the first time he said he needs to give himself time to think before making any decisions.

There wasn’t any useful info in their anyways

I wonder if the bidding war for Coach Q also has an impact on the bidding for Artemi Panarin. -
He won as many playoff games in three seasons with the Wild as they did the season before he got there (2). The Ducks won the same before and after him (they've gotten much worse now but they had three straight playoff seasons after he left). He did take the Caps to new ground (a decade ago) when they were sputtering but never got over the hump. The team continued at the same pace he had them for several years after he left before breaking through. Not convinced he's having a major impact anywhere he goes.

Precisely. Pat yourself on the back all you want but this roster is still hot garbage. -

To be fully honest I don't care one bit who they hire. Sure, if they hire some nobody who has never coached hockey in their life I'll roll my eyes but I have zero sense of what it takes to be a successful coach in the NHL and nothing I've thought would work prior has worked. More concerned about getting the right players. I also hope Phil gets another assistant job somewhere then works his way back to being a head coach somewhere. (I wanted him fired but was mostly indifferent) -

Methinks we'll be trying to land an interview with JQ before he commits to Florida. -
McDavid went hard to the net and ended up suffering a knee injury. Went down holding his knee and had to be helped off the ice.

I vote in favor of nfreeman here.

The only way to show you’re playing with heart is to lead the league in scoring over a portion of the season. Cut and dry. Nobody else has heart. Jack Eichel has over a point per game but frankly if he had heart he’d have double that.
-
There are a lot of reasons an eventual McDavid trade is realistic (absolute 0% chance it happens this offseason) but the bananas circumstances that ended in a Gretzky trade don’t have anything to do with it.
-
I vote to ban Brawndo from this thread lol everytime I see him as the last post I get hopeful.
-
I wonder how many mattresses it would take to get him to come out of retirement.

Why would Edmonton? We just don’t match up on a Draisaitl deal. There aren’t many teams that could. It’s a situation where we can jumble together a handful of pieces that appear to match “value” but don’t make any sense for Edmonton. They would say no to any realistic offer we can make that doesn’t include Eichel/Dahlin. No matter how many times people mention this it’s still not relevant. The circumstances that created that trade were incredibly unique.

This is one of those conversations that I don’t even enjoy. And that’s from someone who spends most of his Sabres fandom thinking of trades they should target.
