Based on advanced stats?

Risk-Reward. The fact is Richards has been an assistant captain to a team that has won a cup in 2/3 years he has been there. The American economy is improving. Over the next year that will mean it can buy more stuff from Canada, and as the USA-Canada trade a ton of stuff that will make a large impact on Canada's economy, helping to pick it up. I.e. things might not look too hot north of the border atm, but in a few years they will.
-
How so? You have to factor projected growth into long-term deals. With the American economy just picking back up fairly nicely, and because of the amount of trade between Canada and USA, that will pick up the Canadian economy over the next year or so. The cap has generally gone up $4-6 million per year, so even with the cap eventually hitting some plateau setting an estimate at $2 million a year with an improving economy seems like a fairly restrained guess It screws Philly and LA, and yes we get first refusal. Richards cap hit with LA (including this year) was 23 mil and he earnt 29.6 mil (6.6mil excess). With Philly he earnt 17.4 mil and his cap hit was 17.25

I wouldn;t mind picking Richards up. We will have the space for a few more years and then we can just buy him out and because of recapture penalties we would get more cap space that way (as his salary is less than his contract). Win Win. Not to mention, in 5 years the cap will probably be 80+, so he won't be chewing up too much of it. He has never performed that well in LA, compared to Philly (points-wise). Maybe a change would work

OEL and Buf are -5 each. Ouch. Also Fleury sucks
-
I assumed they were going to either give Ovie the car, or pick him as the penultimate player. Although now I hear talk of a fan vote, so maybe that is basically what they did
-
Did the players comment on the Kessel for Sequin trade? Or did they just let it slide and hope people would see the joke

1:54 AM Craig Custance You know Toews did like 500 mock drafts in preparation leading up to this.

What was said?

Hossa is an idiot for not getting an NMC. He is signed for another 7 years at over 5mil (and is 35). Ridiculous contract for the club and a ridiculous contract for him (without the NMC). He will not be traded to a bottom feeder who has the cap space and probably not have a chance at a cup until his last year of his contract.

Bouwmeester had 37 points last year and has 7 this year. Sekera had 44 points last year and 15 this year. So yeah that contract is quite a good comparison. Sekera wil probably get 5.5-6

Ah sorry, misunderstood what you meant. Thought you meant has it been the case where 1 and 2 were a step up from the pack

They're on track for 55 points. We got 52 last year -
The ceremony wasn't spectacular, but I assume that was by request. Most organisations go for the Lidstrom-Red Wings style (which was a great retirement one). Plus it kind of loses something that he left Buffalo 14 years ago. That is not really anyone's fault, but still odd (basically anyone 25 and below in the stadium may not remember him play)

Boyes...Leino...Hodgson Something happens to one players offence here

Yet he put up 3 points (a goal and two primary assists). I'm happy for him to not stand out in the NHL then Grigorenko, whilst admittedly 1 year older, has more points per game than Foresberg had in the AHL last year. I'm not saying he'll be that good, but its nice that he is playing well

Sabres are ruining Murray's plan---what does he do??

That would put us 3rd worst in last years standings. Just enough to miss out on the two studs. Sounds about right -
Oilers fans are lustily eyeing up OEL as a return for Hall
-
The trade would almost certainly be a Myers-Hall base. They need D - he is our best. Add to that some help at centre for them - they would probably want Girgensons. But you could probably barter down to Grigorenko. Add in two firsts to sweeten the deal for them. Myers, Grigo, NYI 1st, STL 1st for Hall That might be close. We might need to throw in a few bits more - someone like Carrier for example. Alternatively they may want Enroth Myers, Grigo, Enroth, STL 1st, Buf 2nd for Hall and 3rd

Because of how ###### the Metro division is, there is only one wild card spot available - the other should be wildcard spot is taken by the third slot of the metro division. We are currently closer to the playoffs (7 points) than we are to being last in the league (8 points). The Oilers are getting the last spot. You don't recover from this season - their goalies are being run over, screaming at the players on the bench and generally losing faith in their skaters. They don't play as a team or defend one another, and multiple times seem to lack basic awareness of who to cover on the ice. They are going to march to 30th, and probably 4th 1st overall pick in 5 years -
Ennis, Grigo or Myers would have been our player options
