I love Iginla, but it would take so much to get him, and he probably only has a few really good seasons left. Kane seems like a head-case, i don't like his attitude - he says that the criticism he receives is (partly) because he is black, which just isn't true. Although I loved the guy at the draft and wanted us to move up to nab him

Since when is Seguin the standard for player development?
Trettioåtta replied to Aud Fellow's topic in Archive
Seguin had like 9 points in his first 25 games and Stamkos had like 11, Duchene has about 10 - and those stats were often padded with a game of 3 points or so. He is doing fine. I consider this season to basically be his training - let him get used to the NHL and start to contribute (dominate ;)) next season- 23 replies

Game Discussion Thread GDT: Boston at Sabres 7PM 2-15-13

We played the same number of back-ups as other teams - i'm sure most teams cash in against back-ups more than starters -

But that is meaningless, we didn't play more back-ups, we just cashed in against the back-ups more. -
Ryan O'Reilly - Get Him At All Costs - Who Do You Trade
Trettioåtta replied to CallawaySabres's topic in Archive
Our only top 6 forwards who fit their financial needs are Ennis and Foligno. Stafford is too expensive and we won't trade Coho, Vanek, Pommers, Grigo. Top prospect would be Armia, Girgenson, Pysyk or McNabb. So we will be losing 2 of that list. Hard pill to swallow. My guess would be Foligno and Armia would be the final trade, if we get it. If we could use Brennan as the top prospect i would be very happy -

How dare the Sabres have a good winning record against the normal number of back-ups any team faces. If we ever needed proof this team has never had a good run and no-one has played well, we have it -
We should clean house - get rid of Ruff, Regier, all coaching staff, all medics and Black. Clean start all round. Trade Vanek, Pommers, Myers and Miller for picks in this years draft (I figure we could probably get 4 firsts for them, maybe a little more), give Enroth the reigns and see what he can do under a new coach. Sadly, I think that this will only happen if Pegula is removed as well. So here's to hoping we can put pressure on him to sell. Bring back TG - our best years in the last 2 decades were under his guidance and leadership. The hockey heaven experiment is over. Let's return to the glory days

Ryan O'Reilly - Get Him At All Costs - Who Do You Trade
Trettioåtta replied to CallawaySabres's topic in Archive
Sekera would be a tough pill to swallow. It would also give us a surplus of forwards. Vanek - Coho - Pommers Ennis - Grigo - Foligno Ott - Reilly - Stafford That would be over 33 million (I gave Coho and Reilly a combined 7ish) in that top 9, not including Leino's 4.5. So that would be over 40 million in our forwards. MIller and a back up would cost 7-7.5, which would leave us 16.5 million to sign 6 D men. After Myers and Ehrhoff, it would leave us 7 million to sign the other 4/5 d men. So clearly, If we trade Sekera for Reilly then we need to lose fowards. We can't have that much salary tied up in the top 9 and we can't have a 4th line worth 7 million. Does anyone have information on Leino? This guy is basically not a sabre in my mind. I know he was skating again recently, do we have a time frame and the cause of it all? -
I really like Ennis, i'm just not sure I like him at centre - he plays like a winger in my mind. Also, bar that one really good Stafford chance, he hasn't really set his line mates up for nice positions to score from. I still like the guy though. Ennis has 102 points in 154 games Reilly has 107 points in 223 games If we trade Ennis, I would expect to get a top prospect back. Reilly might be harder to play against and better defensively, but Ennis is the beter offensive player.

Where did that list of teams interested in him come from? -
Our current pace is for 64.4 points. Columbus got 65 last year. Hello Mckinnon or Jones

I dunno, it just seems like a bad PR move to fire someone a month after signing them to a 5 year extension -

We can now end up 15 in the East if Washington and NYI win their next game and Florida get a point in their next game. Florida and Washington also have 2 games in hand (not including the one they need to win) -

The Sabres might be done for the season with this. We are 2/3 points out of 8th and every other team has 2 games in hand. That could quickly become 6 points out. -

I've studied Marfan's syndrome a fair bit. Could a person with it really make it to an elite level? The cardiovascular defects would surely stop his fitness getting anywhere close to the NHL? Also surely he would have found out about it by now, thus so would scouts etc.? If Myers does have it, then based on the potential he has shown I would say without he would have the potential to be the best player of all time, including Orr -
The question is always, was it the change of scenery or the ageing of the player that caused the turn around?
