  1. I think the team would have to be a tire fire like last season for Housley not to get the full year. Personally, I'm not looking for where they are in the standings, but rather whether they're playing in a way that will lead to more success when the talent is further upgraded.
  2. I'm glad you agree with me. More people should try it! ? You're really setting yourself up for disappointment with Okposo, though.
  3. Convenient to leave out that Reinhart has played 65 more games than Nylander and 99 more than Point. Career points per game: Reinhart - .56, Point - .71, Nylander - .73. I'd trade Reinhart for either of them without much of a second thought. I'd consider Guentzel or Arvidsson as well, but that's more of a fit argument than it is they're clearly better than Samson. Reinhart is definitely underrated around here, but I think you put way too much stock on a half season stretch where he vastly outperformed his career averages.
  4. Theyr'e definitely better than Ottawa and Montreal, but I can't say much more with any confidence. I think they're probably around Detroit, and I expect a mid-80 point season.
  5. What makes you think this? From fracking to the national anthem thing in the NFL, everything points to him being a Republican.
  6. Ah, that makes considerably more sense. It's still a good gesture, but I'm not about to make somebody use mine to get me a new hoodie now.
  7. Wait, you just have to go to the store with a #15, they give you $49 to spend in the store, and you get to keep the #15? Is this real life?
  8. I'm actually kind of excited that my #15 will be considered vintage at some point.
  9. Me too, but the cost of doing so zaps that gratefulness right quick.
  10. They're definitely NHL players. It's just that mediocre 3rd liners aren't anything to be really excited about.
  11. Prospect maybe. But we definitely disagree on the significance of a 1st from a team that could win the Cup.
  12. I'm thinking from another team's perspective. What kind of buffoon of a GM takes on Callahan's albatross for two years without a significant asset coming along with it?
  13. If it turns out that way in the final deal, I'll forever want to know the unknowable: Did Botts try?
  14. I will say, if Tampa sends a good player with Callahan to facilitate this, I'll be at least mildly disappointed (depending on the name) if we're not involved in the final deal. Yzerman may not want to do it in division if it's a name like Johnson or Palat, but I'd like to think this is the sort of thing Botterill would want to be in on to upgrade the forwards.
  15. This thread has really gone from one bad thing to another. If that doesn't epitomize Sabres hockey of the past decade, I don't know what does.
  16. I don't know whether to hate you, or feel sorry for you.
  17. Part of me wants to see a long-term deal just to see if Freeman has a little Liger in him. But really, I'd prefer to bridge him. 3 years at something like $4.5M makes sense to me.
  18. No, he went back to 23 shortly after returning. But his original number upon return was 45. It was even in a Jay-Z song! "When I come back like Jordan, wearin' the 4-5, it ain't to play games with you...."
  19. No, Jordan's #45 was when he came out of retirement from baseball. So literally right in the prime of his career. LeBron's made sense at least with the team swap. The only truly bizarre one was Kobe; and I'll always think of Kobe as #8.
  20. I normally don't think I'm getting old. Then things like this happen...
  21. I'm going to be really interested in how much they eventually sell for and what happens to the debt. Apparently, the Sens just got a new loan and their total debt is over $200 million right now.
  22. Just get in touch with Dean Lombardi and ask how they pulled off the Mike Richards thing!
  23. I dunno. As someone who has an original 15, I wouldn't hate an excuse to get a jersey without the pit stains
