  1. Boohoo Again that exact sequence happens all the time
  2. Just one went out of that? Trash So you're not allowed to facewash? That happens 90 times per game
  3. Reinhart has 9 goals in 18 games against Tampa.
  4. Some absolute lasers this year. I'm still shocked by that goal in the home opener
  5. Dahlin was onside because he was controlling the puck, but did his teammates wait for the puck to cross fully? Hope Cooper doesn't challenge
  6. The net being off doesn't make a difference about whether or not that puck goes in. Does that matter?
  7. Nice. Does it count? Net on? Team onside?
  8. Between Jack and Evan that was 4 straight offensive zone faceoff wins Then put it in the pads, high blocker is least likely to put a rebound anywhere useful
  9. Vesey shoulda passed that. He hasn't beaten anyone with a shot all year and Johansson would have had a wide open net
  10. It's really, really annoying how late these games start. Just do all this stuff 15 minutes earlier. It really screwed up my timing yesterday, I had carefully orchestrated a few things so I would minimize how much hockey I'd miss But starting the game 25 minutes after the time it's supposed to "start" ***** everything up
  11. I'm already on Sheary watch. I know he missed three games in that span, but he has one point since October 7th. Last year he went 43 games with only one or two non-empty-net goals, as we collapsed. There was a stretch of about 4 games recently where the only thing he did with the puck was lose it, which was his defining trait during that bad stretch last season. I'm talking like, maybe completed a couple passes, and literally lost the puck every single other time he touched it
  12. It's not something concretely defined. That moment could be 3 weeks from now. For the Blues last year it wasn't until January, and they rode that to a cup. We could have five more weeks of garbage, AND a successful season come spring time.
  13. Indeed, it's a two part process - deciding to make the move, and choosing the right player.
  14. Fabbri has two goals in his first game with Detroit. There are ways to make the team better during the season and I hope something happens for us.
  15. The more I see that play by Kucherov on Sobotka the more pissed I get. What a scumbag The ref was staring right at it too and had the nerve to tell Ralph he didn't see it
  16. I'm remembering someone posting that we were going to sweep tampa this year. ? I think we're going to win tomorrow though, I can feel it in my bones
  17. When many of our guys try to peel the puck off the boards they don't have the hands and processing speed to make good things happen without losing the puck. They're not dumb, and would rather make plays that aren't as likely to be automatic turnovers, so their default is to battle on the boards and use the point men as a pressure release valve, it definitely is in part a roster issue because this has been the story of our offense since the tank ended spanning three different coaches
  18. No either, even though it worked last year somehow. Whoever Jason trades for, that guy
  19. If it's there, it won't have even begun yet, like dudacek outlines. It will be proven by a good stretch of hockey emerging from the ashes of a bad one, and lasting longer than it. And then, when the next bad stretch comes in January, doing the same thing again. And then, during the exhaustion of the stretch run in March, it will be proven by the team bearing down and finishing the season strong. The Krueger effect hasn't had an opportunity to show itself yet.
  20. I like McCabe, I think having him and Risto on the same pairing isn't a great thing for either of them. You can spread the "grit" out a bit and give each guy a passing partner
  21. I think they could do some things to get more out of the roster, now that winning and scoring a lot have each faded away and taken with them the justification for leaving things the same because of winning and scoring. That was just the 4th time this season in 16 games that our top line has outscored their opposition at even strength. Before today they were pacing for being a -27 on the season, meaning the other three lines would basically have to outscore their opponents by ten goals each over the season just for the team to break even in goal differential, which would result in another playoff-less season - never mind the fact that it's very likely none of those lines will outscore their opposition by 10 goals at even strength, much less all three. We need our top line carrying more of a load offensively (today was a nice start) but I don't think it can happen long term with the current setup. And I think Olofsson will look a lot less like a specialist when taken off of the line that gets the defensive assignments meant for Eichel. He very obviously can't handle them. Teensy sample size, but for a period he played with Sheary and Mitts and they were dangerous in their few shifts. It makes sense that he would look better playing against the scraps. Meanwhile, we know that Jack and Jeff can outscore their opponents handily at ES, while Sam and Jack simply never have no matter when you begin or end the sample size with them together. I'd move to something like Skinner - Eichel - ??? Vesey? meh - Johansson - Reinhart Olofsson - Mitts - Sheary Zemgus - Larry - Kyle The team really does need that move that Dreger keeps hinting at, and we've been begging for since April (or last January in some cases) Tampa is much better at keeping their feet under them and keeping the puck under control in high traffic, physical situations. In fact, I think it's the single thing that we are worst at, and I think that plays a big role in our historical offensive woes. It's why I counter claims of hands and talent on this roster - both are useless if they can't be relied on in game situations, and too many of our guys, even and especially the "skilled" ones, can't make plays in tight to simply hang onto the puck, much less do something with it after that. I think it would be poetic, triumphantly climbing back to the 8th draft slot we fired guys for, taking 3 years to do it
  22. I had them in the 79-84 point range and adjusting for opponent I think they've played more or less to that level, at least in terms of how often they carry the play against which teams
  23. Just the fans as a whole. My dad is still referencing those games for what these guys can be, but they simply won't play as well as that consistently unless they're playing teams who played as poorly in those games as Pitt/NJ did, over and over.
