  1. While these two are not our best players, you can definitely see this.
  2. I'm being too doomsday-y here. The season isn't over or anything, it's two games against a ridiculous team. Nobody is seriously underperforming, though nobody is overperforming expectations either. Which is why we're enduring the struggle we are, given the limitations we entered the season with. There are plenty of good and fun moments left in this season
  3. Not have gone on the entire chain of events linking today to his depth forward choices and "burn the tape" attitude in the summer of 2017?
  4. I wasn't as high on Dahlin as some people but it's pretty damn surprising to me that he's our worst defenseman so far this season
  5. The Bills have been Sabres relief for like 6 years now
  6. They're giving the fans the FULL nhl experience.
  7. It's funny how Rob gets so quiet for the syllables he doesn't know how to say
  8. Cernak with a flagrantly illegal play
  9. Even though I net-liked the offseason, it's so alarming to hear a guy genuinely believe that Jimmy Vesey is the guy we need to give an asset for to try and help fix the offensive zone issues at even strength. I continue to believe he doesn't really understand what our problems are, or what makes an adequate, much less good, depth forward
  10. Montour is very obviously competent, and often very good, and yet the Sabres record, if it's all you looked at, would tell you to never play him. Obviously so much more is in play, because that doesn't make any sense, and thus there must be a lot of things going on and the best thing to do would be to try and understand all of them as well as possible Or look at McDavid's Oilers, or look at what we said about ROR versus what St. Louis says about the same man less than a calendar year later
  11. We don't have either of these haha
  12. A wonderful illustration of how little one person means on a hockey team, and how important competent roster building is for all lines and positions
  13. Imagine putting this group of forwards together and then telling them with a straight face to go compete with the teams in our division People are so skeptical when you point out how critically flawed our roster is in the offseason, and then so furious when the inevitable winds up happening as soon as enough hockey gets played to establish what teams are
  14. Okay, the cutting of the initial faceoff made that look worse for Hutton than it was, a lot of malfunctioning parts there.
  15. I've seen Larsson win puck battles with Kucherov a lot of times the last few years, it's honestly impressive
  16. Dammit Montour come on Wonder if the puck was on edge. Ugh he just freakin whiffed
  17. Skinner has 47 goals as a Sabre. I don't think a single one was a one-timer. Dahlin's pass was bad in that case, it wasn't Jeff's fault, it just made me think Do Vesey next
  18. It's a stretch to compare the 16th regular season game, in early November, in a largely quiet neutral arena, to the Stanley Cup Playoffs
  19. Vesey is amazing at getting 2 on 1s and is horrific at doing anything on them. The first one he shot when the goalie only had to twitch his blocker to make a save, while a GLORIOUS seam was available for Johansson to have half an open net. The second one he passed into a player that was already sprawled on the ice in the passing lane.
  20. Bad roster decisions that are pretty easy to see for what they are when they happen certainly play a role
