I don't know. Dallas plays entertaining hockey. They don't have a defense, so usually they need to shoot and gamble to win. They aren't a dull team at all.

The defenses were very active getting up ice and often made entries across the blue-line. The breakouts were usually long passes from the Buffalo goal-line to center ice. Rarely were those teams in defensive postures. Not a defensive system. Those teams almost never trapped either.

The thing that gets overemphasized is deadline day itself. Murray pretty much kicked off the trade season with the Winnepeg blockbuster. Next he got what he could for parts of the league's worst team which will bring back a 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th. While not breathtaking, these are assets going forward and they amount to half of a draft. My only disappointment was GMTM couldn't move Meszaros.

Here's the thing. Stewart on a playoff team plugs in on a third line in the Raffi Torres role. A 2nd really is the Kelly Blue Book on that one.

My mistake....gave up 207 that year. Not sure what year I was thinking of. He was hardly a defense first coach, though. Most goals against the sabres during Lindy years were counterattack, when the sabres got caught deep in the offensive zone.

I think 2009-10 Buffalo scored 235 goals and gave up 250. Hardly a stifling defensive system.
