Good. He's gonna be a good one, but let him grow a little.
-
He's the real deal. :) Finally a player I don't mind paying to watch.

He's pretty much playing center in the O-zone. And sliding to W responsibilities in the D zone. It is paying off, it is allowing him to go deeper in the O-zone and set up behind the net offensively without worrying about covering the middle going back.- 445 replies

McGinn is skating better than in the pre-season. I really had worries, but he gets up and down.

He was. He moved the puck decisively and skated better then in any pre-season game.- 445 replies

Yep. The kid from family affair.

If he's the guy getting to the front of the net. I have no problem with Marcus on any line.

O'Reilly with a great game today. He's starting to get the feel. He's the guy we've needed down low and on the dot. Outstanding game- 445 replies

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a win less. It's a bad product at the pro level. I agree.

New year, tons of firepower, still cant score.

That's exactly what was happening...and he should. -

I'm okay with getting the puck behind the defense. Especially against Tampa. -
There are some good things happening. The Sabres are winning draws and the passing and pace of play are much improved. I really like the forwards, but they have to forget about beating a goalie like Bishop with an extra pass and need to create more traffic. O'reilly is strong on the puck, but really needs to draw in players before getting it off his stick. The focus is on up-tempo play now, and they are doing that, but sometimes holding that puck an extra half second lets the play develop. Bishop had easy reads all afternoon. Samson looked okay. Eichel missed the net on the far side 3 times or more, but he's learning. Webber, Franson, Carlos.....lets just say that's 3 #6s on the ice. Not faulting effort, they just don't match up well. Those 3 are going to get killed on the road.

The boards seem crazy lively. I'm wondering why.

Tampa is a damn good team. From my seat it really came down to this, Webber and Franson can't keep up. Not quick, enough to keep puck in the zone, pinch, or support the puck for the forwards. This is a work in progress,... Lastly, the Avatar guessing game between periods is pretty funny. Ennis and Eichel missed the netmultiple times. They gave Bishop way too much respect.

Nice work.

I've never seen Bylsma juggle lines so much. That's a change.
-
I don't think he was getting penalized for doing something wrong. (on an icing, Disco even threw Eichel and Samson out on the same line)...it was just a matter of shortening the bench.

It was the right call according to this unnecessary process the league created that I truly believe is bad for hockey.

I understand the opinion. But, It is a ton different. Football stops every 12 seconds anyway. The beauty of hockey is that it has flow, players change on the fly, the constant motion. It isn't football. All stops in hockey should be minimized.

I can't believe any fan was asking for this, or even the players. Why on earth, in this dead puck era, are we putting in rules that will make it harder to score? Were linesmen doing such a bad job that they needed more scrutiny? I think they do just fine.

One thing I always believed about hockey is that the coach should not have a role in the outcome of the game beyond his line-calls. If there is a challenge it should come from the team captain.
