League save percentage the year after the lockout .901 Last two years .912 For what it is worth. Time took look at Saves over Average....but that's getting dangerously close to advanced stats.....

Part time Miller on a reduced contract? It's a nuance that takes him out of BFlo, but still gives the whiff of circumspection. Clever, but it is the same thing as not wanting him here in practice. And again, you are hardly alone in your sentiments.
-
That's rich. When did you stop believing he's a "detriment to the team" a "bad teammate" and an overrated guy that "throws teammates under the bus" ? What circumstances would you want that guy on the roster? c'mon ? You don't. And it is okay to say it. It is said everyday in Buffalo. You are not alone. He's just not a star here.
-
You live in Florida, right? Buffalo has no golden boy. You WANT Miller off the roster. There are no cries to keep him. So guess what? You are part of the majority.
-
tragic hero? I've never thought of Miller that way. In a nutshell I just think that the idea he's benefited from any undue celebrity is ridiculous. Millers had a good career, even if it ended tomorrow. But as far as sports stars go - 7 years of derision on talk radio - mostly lazy exploitation of a topic, a personality that is thoughtful and introverted, and the lack of a crease sweeping defenseman (Tuuka better? Maybe.....but 27 minutes of Chara sweeping crease a night would not hurt Millers numbers either) all have compounded. What he really doesn't leave as is a star. I'm sticking with it. Most of the feelings for him fall between hate and appreciation.
-
As far as emotional displays -- when you think of the species of goalies-- the idea that Miller is emotional is kind of laughable. We had more emotion in a week out of hasek, Edwards, noranen, ...... What Buffalo never embraced in Miller is that he is cerebral. That and Buffalo, no likey.
-
Interesting ideas here. But the idea that it all ends in a Semantic argument of "elite" just overlies the reality that he's never been embraced as much of a star here in WNY.....even with an impressive body of work. Buffalo eats it's own. Sad but true. Now gimme a first and a high quality prospect, mr. Murray.

The Bride of Risto-stein.

 So extreme dislike then? What phrase do you like? You don't hate that Miller is on the Sabres roster? What are we missing?

The Lady GoDDiva? We've all thought of that at one time or another, haven't we? -
Can't say I know...for me the Winter Games are just Hockey and Curling. Though some of those Russian skaters can catch my eye.

You guys are kidding, right? Or are you thinking it is 2006 There are haters. (such as yourselves.....you don't really think you are all that uncommon, do you?) And then there are the appreciators. There is no fan club. There is your continuum in WNY.... Hate to appreciate Even though the News made a half-hearted case that he should be retained, nobody is calling that he be signed for life, or that he should retire a Sabre. Nor is the guy very marketable. But yes, he is a good goalie, and a pretty good neighbor. Steadfast foundation and Carly Club come to mind. He just never transcended to hero. As Danny White to Roger Stauback - - - he's been that to Dominic. I'd say not loved. People do want to see him do well in the Olympics, however. But the moment he's traded the question will be what did we get back.

Hey, how's Tim Thomas looking? Has ever a goalie been so hated by the fans of his own franchise?
-
I think it is best to move Quick and Miller around. Keep teams guessing as who to prepare for.
-
Are those inches added to the inseam or torso. :) I often think if his legs were an inch longer he'd be covering more pipe side to side.
-
I don't know why, but this one just suddenly took me by surprise. He's been gone for years and off the air for many more. He was great. Really great.

Fraser probably should have been head of officials. He's really good off the ice. I never thought he was as detached when he was working as he is in his articles.

I actually don't recall you having an opinion on him. I was just fabricating because I was on a role. -

Do you think failure vindicates? It never does. I have always posited: Failure is what is common in sports. Only one team wins. Failure proves nothing. Just that you've finished somewhere between #2 - #30. Failure is so common - and happens for so many reasons - it is poor evidence. What deserves ridicule is any theory that is not falsifiable. (see Karl Popper). If I write that Jhonas Enroth is a locker room cancer. That Tyler Meyers has an un-diagnosed condition of the inner ear that makes his balance wonky. And that new hire Craig Patrick is really still working, secretly, and underhandedly for Columbus. Terry Pegula is meddling by talking to his employees. well.... Any theory that is not falsifiable is lower than mere opinion.....opinions are opinions. Non-falsifiable theories are really a form of detraction. Proving a negative. Good luck. There is nothing to be learned from them. Darcy at least said there would be suffering, was he lying? Ultimately the team had to get blown up. That's not necessarily the ultimate failure. Here's a challenge, what success have you predicted? Is it ridicule to ask this? Actually most posters have been very tolerant with the "theories" over the years or have just left altogether. -
They are just worried about getting head-butted in the crotch.

It seems that you've decided that Murray won't like talking to Pegula very often. In fact, I think that Murray, if he's a normal human, will enjoy Terry very much. Most conversations with Pegula end with him saying to his people, "Is there anything I can do to help?" If there is, and it is within his power, he'll try to do it. He really will. Pegula believes in empowering people. He believes it with his company, friends and family. There is no reason for him to change with Murray. It is really is the very opposite of PA's definition of meddling. Note that empowering people doesn't lead to automatic success. It just creates a culture of empowerment. Sometimes it means people are empowered to do stupid things. And often it means staying loyal to the people that have made mistakes. But it isn't meddling, and it isn't micromanagement. Murray, if he is a regular hockey guy, will love Pegula. So this isn't the beginning of a 5-8 year witch hunt? That's good. -

Meddling really is the wrong word. The entire organization is Pegula's concern. He owns it. He can't meddle. It belongs to him. The issue is whether or not he micromanages. I've never heard anyone that works for him say that he does. -

Let me ask you...how does a league get realigned? How do TV revenues get negotiated? Who gets outdoor games? how does a schedule get made? where do rule changes start? The NHL board of governors are a competitive bunch of business guys that are more interested in each other and quorums among themselves than who the 7th defense-man on their own rosters will be. None of them like to look foolish dealing with each other. Pegula is also on the AHL Board of Governors - but I think he lets Black handle most of that. But he stays informed. And no, I don't know Murray - but I do know that him and Terry will have enough to talk about most days without ever getting to the discrete level of "Miller must stay" or "Time to waive Omark, Timmy" But the alternate reality stuff here is entertaining.
