  1. Kaleta did one, and I am not sure who did it the second time, but it was definitely twice within 20 seconds. Pond hockey indeed.
  2. Not loving Stafford's effort there at all. Could have had a scoring op but didn't attack the puck.
  3. What's with all the blind back passes into the middle of the ice as they get in the Caps zone?
  4. With the exception of the 4th line pressure, I haven't seen any fire from the other three lines in terms of loose puck battles, along the walls, in front of the nets..
  5. NHL Network coverage sucks on this game. Take the damn graphics down.
  6. Sabretooth has been coasting on reputation for years, and now he's just mailing it in with minimal effort. Time to send his ass down to Rochester for a wakeup call.
  7. I was a little surprised he didn't. I think that move surprised the zebras.
  8. That;s one way to make sure you don't lose the race for the icing touch....
  9. Yep. And that game was jacked up in terms of intensity right from the opening faceoff. It felt like a playoff atmosphere.
  10. Can someone tell CoHo and Rehger to get out of the damn way?!?
  11. Watched it live this afternoon and didn't like anything about the hit. REALLY hated that the Avs tried to respond and got stuck with a 4-minute PK because of the instigator and "instigating while wearing a visor" rules. Yup. The NYR-Laffs game tonight is really flying. Two good scraps so far and the teams are flying up and down the ice.
  12. You're being too reasonable and even-keeled. Please see the front desk for your complimentary pitchfork and torch.
  13. These pretty much sum up my thoughts. I will be concerned if they show up tomorrow night with the same sloppy defensive zone play, missed opportunities and overall boneheaded hockey, but I expect every team to have some clunkers early in this season, given the circumstances. Just seems like everyone picked the same night to stink up the joint.
  14. Nice patience and hands, CoHo! Glad he didn't score that one off his ass or his neck or something.
  15. Absolutely ridiculous for him to act that way. Way, way unprofessional and should cost him a fine and/or a couple assignments.
  16. Looks terrible. Like they stretched it vertically and mispositioned it in the upper left corner.
  17. Do the MSG scoreboard and logos usually seem like they are stretched high and off the screen? Mine looks weird, but my settings all seem OK.
  18. One other small pet peeve - I'd like to see some other colors in the seating areas. The sea of blue is is a little overwhelming and could use a splash of other colors to offset it. Plus blue has a calming effect, so maybe that's part of the problem too.
  19. Couple scattered thoughts here... I mentioned it in another thread, but I was at the Amerks-Monsters gane after Christmas and I thought the in-game presentation was underwhelming - from the video highlights to the music to the volume. The Monsters do a pretty good job with in-game stuff, but they can be overwhleming too - but I am more likely to overlook it there because it is a minor-league team and they need to work harder to give value outside of the hockey game. Since it is the home of the Sabres I love the FNC, but to me it feels like a cookie-cutter NHL arena. I can't think of anything that makes it stand apart from other arenas.
  20. I wonder how much the other owners and the NHLPA would have to say about it if Terry stopped maximizing revenue streams.
  21. I saw Kassian with the Chicago Wolves earlier this year and was pretty underwhelmed. He wasn't overly physical (more bordering on cheap than anything else - hitting from behind, taking runs at guys well after they got rid of the puck, etc,) and didn't seem interested in dropping the gloves. He had a couple assists but never stood out as a force in the game. I was thinking the same thing about Sulzer - here is a guy who was essentially a throw-in but he has locked down a spot so far. I like his play a lot - he's solid, steady, nothing too flashy or dangerous, but seems to be in the right spot or make the right play.
  22. I thought the same thing at the Amerks-Monsters game after Christmas. I was really surprised - the Monsters do a really nice job with game presentation (although it has gone downhill a little over the last couple years) but the Sabres/Amerks' presentation was underwhelming. I don't know if it was Sabres or Rochester personnel doing it for the AHL game, though.
