1st period thoughts... Good period overall. One or two stretches where they were running around, but otherwise good flow, solid play. Gerbe played well. Couple good ops. Needs to bury one. Kaleta....don't like him fighting, but he had a great fight. Campbell bit off a little more than he could chew there. Stafford had a couple real good, physical shifts. He needs to keep that up. That slash call on Hodgson was WEAK.

As far as I am concerned he can write this column every week if he wants until the team improves (read: changes in management) and is a serious playoff contender.

Remember the one guy who came on here and ripped the Sabres and ownership unmercifully about how the Sabres didn't care about the Amerks and how the new Amerks owners were going to sign all these AHL free agents and would make sure they challenged for the Calder Cup every year? I get it - I worked with a minor league baseball team and got pissed when we would start to gain some traction, only to see our better players move up. But that's the life of minor league sports teams.

I always wondered the same thing. I was scared to death that my next step would be my last when walking up those steep steps.

I've had it intermittently on DirecTV. Sometimes the aspect is screwed up, sometimes it looks perfect. I would think it is either a provider setting or TV setting, but I am just guessing and probably talking out my ass.

apus beat me to it. The flying on the plane thing was what I was thinking of.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I've always understood the "Chet and Muffy" comments as referring to the upper middle class and people of higher socioeconomic status who now attend Sabres games as opposed to the blue collar, lower middle class fans who used to attend the games and got rowdy, i.e. the ones who are now priced out of the market.
