Yes, but this isn’t 24 teams making the playoffs, only 16/31. This is more of an extension of the regular season to determine which of the teams 9-24 in a best of 5 series deserve to battle 1-8 for the Cup in actual playoffs. Seeing seeds 23 and 24 advance in this current experiment has me wondering if the NHL actually accidentally stumbled upon something.
