I fully believe that Ruff has a say in roster moves, I was addressing posters that frequently trash both Ruff and Darcy regardless (in spite of every possible little positive move). I wouldn't complain if both got canned, I just haven't been around that long. I can't really have an opinion either way with just being a Sabres fan for a little under three years.

I'm meh on Darcy being extended. He has proven that he can't build a winner in the last five years and let last season become yet another lost season. If he can continue fleecing others in trades and Lindy can start winning, then HOORAY FOR THE SABRES. I'm not thrilled but I don't really care (as I haven't been a fan of the Sabres for as long as most here). For the constant generals of negativity (of whom I don't always disagree and are usually interesting, GoDD, PA, to say the least), it's Darcy who sucks or Lindy who sucks. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Darcy sucks and he can't build a roster or Lindy sucks and he can't coach a roster that would otherwise win. 11 brings this up all the time and he is definitely right. Which do you believe? I for one have no F'N clue.

I didn't say he disappeared, I said he disappeared in crunch time. In the second and third periods when the Sabres needed a goal to ice the games, Vanek was nowhere to be found. And he was useless (just like almost everyone) in game seven. He definitely played well in that series, he just didn't play that well in the clutch.

Snark aside, you make some good points why we should keep Vanek. I agree, although you have to see why ink doesn't have a problem with losing Vanek. Vanek disappeared in crunch time in the Philly playoff series and the end of last season. Yes, he was injured, but he only scored six goals in the second half of the season. If Vanek isn't scoring goals, the only real use he has is drawing top defensive pair. Vanek is 29 on Saturday. and could potentially nave a huge cap hit with the ceiling coming down next year. He could hypothetically be replaced by Armia.

The Avs wouldn't exactly be negotiating from a position of power in trade talks, so I doubt they'd end up getting that kind of return. Then again, I have no GD clue.

O'Reilly would likely be the shutdown center, while also being able to pile up points (Ott - O'Reilly - Pommer?). Too many centerman is a good problem, and one I long for the Sabres to have.
