Float a bunch of big money one year offers to free agents. Let it be known that you are trying to put the young guys in a position to succeed, and if the Sabres aren't making the playoffs, they will get a shot with a contender. Considering they'll be FAs next year, there's really no downside. Obviously most guys aren't going to want that, but there'd be a couple of bites.

You're going over the top in every way negative about the Sabres, including the prospects we already had. Grigorenko wasn't ready for the show last year. He was put on the 4th line and played 5-7 minutes a game to get booed by our fans. Of course an 18 year old kid that is used to dominating hockey is going to have a bit of an attitude. His situation as literally 180'd by the way the Sabres handled him. There's so little for us to go on when it comes to being worried about his attitude.
