You do realize that Crosby has won the cup right??? He also helps make his team contenderers each and every year! Can he do it alone? no, but the Penguins are MUCH better with him then without.

Honestly what is the best that the Sabres could do this year?? is there one person that thinks that this team can make a run for the play-offs this year?? Unfortunately in sports, if your not going to make the play-offs its best to come in last (30th) rather then 20th. the Goal should not be to be "competitive" it should be to WIN the cup. Those who want the Sabres to come last and guarantee McDavid/Eichel are sick and tired of losing!! we want to win a championship!! and see a team that has McDavid/Eichel on their roster having a much greater chance to do so then a team that drafts 10th next year.

you are probably disappointed the Sabres won the coin flip that brought us Perreault and all his hype rather then Dale Tallon who went #2 that year.

Music to my ears.. I think thats a great perspective from another fan of this team for 40 years. I don't want playoff contender I want Cup favorite. That requires Game changers like McDavid and/or Eichel.

- for those worrying about the Sabres getting out of last place, don't forget Miller was excellent last year while he was the Sabres. Im confident that Enroth and Neuvirth won't be nearly as good. Still entrenched in last place - Though the "tank" is over.

anyone know the standings as of the deadline? it would be interesting to see before the floor completely collapased on the Sabres last year.

You are way over valuing what these picks do for the Sabres. This team can't score and they had Vanek/Moulson on the team up to the deadline. Gorges nor McCormack have any offensive upside - we delete Erhoff and Gionta is a leader not a scorer. Further - Edmonton, Calgary, Florida, Vancouver all got better. The Islanders get Tavares back and now have a legit goalie. Who does that leave as our competition for last? Carolina maybe, Maybe Toronto. Look at it this way - the team was in last place at the deadline with Moulson/Vanek, Ott, McCormack and Miller. How much of improvement is Gorges, Moulon, Enroth, Gionta and McCormack? Maybe Reinhart is the wildcard?

One of the biggest revenue source (if not biggest) for the NHL is the new television contract with Rogers in Canada. The Leafs due to the legions of sheep - errr fans are the biggest drivers for ratings. If the Leafs became cup contenders for a decade, the tv ratings would soar and the contract would become even more valuable. CHL Top Prospects Game Tickets go on sale in September at Niagaraicedogs.net. Great opportunity to see the 2015 draft class in person. It would be awesome to see the arena filled with Sabres fans.

Funny you say that, its the first time in my life im hoping the Leafs make the play-offs and get swept in 4 games. I want them no where near the NHL lottery next year. With the Islanders, I don't see them out of the bottom 5 if not challenging Buffalo for the top pick. They over paid both former Leafs as noone else would go there. Its a lot to ask Strome and Reinhart to make a significant impact this coming season - though I do believe both will be solid NHL players.

where is Reinhart next year - NHL or WHL?. i THINK Another year in juniors (including playing on a line with McDavid at the worlds) can do him good. plus you dont eat up a year of his elc.

anyone else notice that Noah Hanifin was not invited to the USA World Junior camp? Seems odd to leave the 3rd ranked prospect in the 2015 draft off the list.

unfortunately, not so fast. Le Brun was just on TSN saying that the league just came out saying "nothing is guaranteed at this point" still possible for changes. Why cant anything be easy as a Sabres fan?

i have no issue trading Myers or Ehrhoff in the right trade and drafting Ekblad - however you need to bring in a couple of vets to help show the kids the way.
