i feel 90% confident that either Guenther or Beniers will be a Sabre next year. I would venture to guess that most teams near the bottom would lean D over F, so its unlikely both are gone if Sabres draft 3rd. Am i wrong that CGY , LAK, NJD, DET, OTT and ANA would look at Power as their #1 target? Detroit and Ottawa are the only ones i think there could be a debate about

Not sure to be honest. Who are comparables? I’d take guys like this in UFA over guys that can cost $9 million plus.
-
2 UFA’s I’d be interested Hyman and Laughton
-
All other goalies 22 decisions - 5 points.

Here is a paragraph “I thought he was better than people gave him credit for at the world juniors, he then impressed in the Sabres’ training camp and he has been fine in the AHL. So this has more to do with where he was picked and the play of those selected immediately after him than it does him playing poorly in an admittedly small sample size.” wheeler had him at 15 prior to the draft , so has never been a big fan of him. Think the article has to be taken with a grain of salt

I would hope he would play well enough next season to be one of their call-ups due to injuries but most of his time should be playing in all key roles in Rochester.

the numbers are similar but hopefully the competitiveness isn't I still believe Quinn is going to be just fine
-
you've seen them with AHL level goaltending, correct? its the most important position on the team. if it takes $5mill to get it done, so be it

Official Jason Karmanos Hired as Sabres Associate GM

can you remind me how good this team was prior to the tank? Its not like they blew up a team that was a player or two from winning the cup. They were mediocre at best. -
All you need to know about Ullmark this season. 14 decisions - 15 points earned. plus was winning the game he got hurt, we all remember the softy Hutton gave up in OT all other goalies 21 decisions 4 points Almost hard to believe
-
If this is where we are at, maybe trading Eichel for a center like Dach or Byflield, plus 2 first rounders is the right move? Build around Dahlin, UPL, Cozens, Berniers other young players. Im not there yet, but I see it being an intriguing option if Eichel does eventually demand a trade.
-
he seems like the antithesis of Berniers - afraid of the high traffic areas and unwilling to use his physical advantages. Scratch him from any Sabres draft boards
-
I'll say the improvement in Goaltending (UPL and Ullmark??), Dahlin and some of the other young players will lift this team to be a playoff contender by then. Sorry if this was already Posted What happened to Raty, who was the odds on #1 coming into the year. https://dobberprospects.com/2021/03/26/what-happened-to-the-aatu-raty-of-2018-19/

good god, lets hope we are talking about him constantly as Sabre fans
-
He won't
-
at least we can all agree that they need to draft a forward. Only fly in the ointment i can see at this time is Brandt Clark, if you think he is a Jamie Drysdale/Makar/Quinn type who can contribute to an NHL club much quicker than the Hedman/Dahlin/Nurse mold of D that can take a few years.
-
You make it sound like this team is flush with wingers. Yes , hopefully they can get Berniers but if not the wingers will be a nice consolation prize
-
I wouldn't once you get past the top 5 or 6 picks in most drafts, in becomes a crap-shot at best. Take the best forward available at 3, IMHO. Its not like the cupboard is stock full at wing. what he said!
-
unless I am missing someone the next two centers after Berniers are: 1) Kent Johnson who played wing at Michigan as per Pronman "His game can lack pace and he's not that hard to play against" 2) Chaz Lucius - as per Pronman "His main drawback is skating , which lacks explosiveness " 3) Aatu Raty - who's stock has dropped significantly this season. Think im going Eklund or Guenther if they can't land Berniers
-
just to play devils advocate. If you have Cozens and Eichel as C1 and C2, would you be better off drafting a 3rd line center over a guy that has potential to be a top line winger? I still have Berniers as my number one wish but what if he is gone? who's the 2nd best center in the draft?
-
Pronman has a new #1 prospect Dylan Guenther, RW, Edmonton-WHL April 10, 2003 | 6-foot-2 | 175 pounds Games: 6 | Goals: 8 | Points: 15 Previous ranking: 4 Guenther has come out of the gates firing as a leading player on a top CHL team. He’s also grown a bit since we last saw him, shooting up about two inches. He is a forward with a ton of NHL attributes and no real flaw in his game other than he doesn’t play center. He has tremendous skill, while able to make skilled plays through defenders and to teammates at an NHL pace. He can run a power play with his playmaking, while also having the shot to score from a distance. He has a lot of talent, but also works off the puck, forcing turnovers and playing in traffic. He has the best chance of anyone in this draft to become an NHL star.
