Adams would win GM of the year if he could somehow manage to trade Hinistroza after having waived him when any team could have taken him for free. I think it's safe to assume Johnson and Portillo are walking - off the top of my head I can't think of a single college player who stayed the 4 years who ended up signing with the team that drafted them (although I'm sure it has happened, just not to use recently). I agree what's needed is to bring in a defensive d-man at the deadline to replace Byrson.

The athletic had an article earlier this week saying the sabres have one of the toughest schedules for the remainder of the season and they weren't projecting them to make the playoffs. I think they're wrong.

Without us knowing the nature of the injuries the best course of action is to let the trainers/medical staff make that decision.

In OT I'd make a rule that says you can't carry the puck backwards across two lines. If that happens treat it like an icing.

It really rubs me the wrong way that in the Winnipeg game they kept reviewing the clock near the end of the game to tack on extra seconds to give them a chance. Dahlins goal would have counted if they looked at literally any stoppage earlier in the period to find an extra .3 seconds.

It's not as exciting as speculating how we can get a 1st round pick for flipping scandella and then ending up with a 4th rounder for him, but it'll do.

We don't need any more 2023 2nd round draft picks...3 is enough.

Maybe the Sharks GM, former Sabres legend Mike Grier is actually sleeper agent and this is a long con to improve the Sabres. Karlsoon + Meier for Mitts + Ben Bishop and a 2nd round pick. Who says no?

I predict the sabres will ride those handlebars to victory.

I'm really interested to see what happens next season. I get the feeling that we're going to keep Jost (RFA after this season, currently making 2M) and I can see him sliding down to anchor the 4th or "energy" line. Assuming our top 6 stays the same and KO & Girgensons aren't re-signed I can see our bottom six looking something like this: Kane/ FA/Trade - Savoie/Kulich/Ostland - VO Mitts - Jost - Krebs Jost/Mitts essentially become the replacements for KO & Girgensons - both lines have recently been very good at keeping the other team hemmed in and working the puck around the perimeter (but not generating much scoring). I can see this line providing that same type of play / energy and we'd hopefully get more offense out of our new 3rd line which I'm guessing will be VO, a kid in our system and an outside acquisition.

To the last line, I think Asplund has played himself off his team and wont' be here past this season. I see him being packaged in a deal (if one is made).
