  1. After the first 15 or so games played last year the Sabres sat 1 point behind Nashville and Toronto in the standings. Both of those teams made the playoffs. (The Predators and Leafs had 15 points). The season ended with 95 for the Leafs and 94 for the Preds. So, yes, I do have hope that they will make it. However, I don't think they will make it so long as 3 of the starting D are coming from the group of Falk, Fedun, Tennyson, Bealieu, and Antipin. In reality there should be 1 spot and at most 2 for that group. I never thought they would do more than battle for 8th. They'll need to turn things around and they're going to have to find serenity in their defensive zone.
  2. I think the team is playing better. They were outshooting Dallas which means they generated some chances. They continue to be soft, they continue to be a disaster in their own end. This is a byproduct of injuries and a lack of skill on defense. It does need to be fixed and they aren't going to do it through the draft. Kane can get a defender, but they may have to wait until another team becomes more desperate to maximize the value. It will continue to be a sad looking group back there. I would think that Gorges, Bogosian, RIstolainen in the lineup would improve things quite a bit, even given how bad Risto was playing. Oh well.. on to the next game I guess.
  3. If a GM believes enough in Reinhart then perhaps he's someone you can tie Bogo or Moulson with as a salary dump. Unlikely but more likely than Kane unless the Sabres will take less for Kane just to clear a salary.
  4. Kane or Reinhart get traded soon. It has to happen.
  5. Dallas adding insult to injury. They keep taking penalties to make sure the Sabres PP is dead last in the league by the end of the game.
  6. Last I saw it was around $5k. What's it up to now?
  7. Yep. And being the 2nd period Dallas had the short change to keep it fresh.
  8. Antipin needs one.
  9. I've watched most of the games and I can't recall any meaningful Carubba Collisions. I'm going with the analytics. If you can't even get a viable Carubba Collision then you are clearly a soft team bound to suck. I also want to hypothesize that this team will rise to level of the commercials. They suck as does this team. Other than No MSG. I like that one.
  10. If I'm Eichel I go get myself 5 for fighting. I mean, why not right?
  11. Garbage! The Stars goal song is awesome. I'd stick around just for that.
  12. Ah the prophetic doom sayers. Welcome back. I can picture it. "Hey, this is it! They are getting their butts kicked! I can login and let everyone know how miserable everything is!" Thanks! It makes everything better. Spread all the doom.
  13. You mean a goaltender should put the puck out in front of his net? That's a shot he has to hold and then nothing happens.
  14. That second goal was all him. The D expects him to hold that. The first and third were also very weak. He looks like crap.
  15. Bye Lehner.
  16. Seriously. Cover the puck.
  17. I wonder if Risto has the same LBI that Price has. And that's a great start there. At least I refreshed the bourbon bottle before the game.
  18. Maybe ROR can play rock, paper, scissors with Seguin after the warm up period.
  19. http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/jets-patrik-laine-struggles-cant-many-positive-things/ Looks like Patrick Laine has got a case of the RORs. Anyone want to throw him under the Greyhound and say he's washed up? Sean Reynolds ✔@snseanreynolds Patrick Laine brutally honest about low confidence he has right now. Asked what he’s struggling with he said “ice hockey,” aka everything. 12:19 PM - Nov 2, 2017 “I feel like I can’t do many positive things on the ice,” Laine said. “The team is winning, that’s always good but it would be nice to help the team.”
  20. It's the Sabres visiting the Stars tonight at 8pm. Buffalo is looking to start a streak and atone for their 3rd period laziness against the worst team in the league. Things are bigger in Texas and this game is no exception. The Sabres need a win to show that they are turning a corner. For tonight the Sabres will have to bring the D in Big D. Eichel, O'Reilly, Kane, Ristolainen will have to shine bright. The players will have to dig deep in the heart of Texas to pull out a win. If they go up they can't go into Alamo mode in Texas. The people there won't stand for it. Tune in at 8pm for the lightning fast posting of the SabreSpace most witty and experience the fan emotion and instant analysis of a bunch of lunatics who keep watching these games. See you later!
  21. I agree on the 3rd goal. You can't put a rebound out front like that. I've just watched the second goal over and over again. I'll go with you on the second goal to a certain degree. I think Lehner believed he was going to tip it five hole but even if that was the case Lehner's positioning from the post down to the butterfly was not good. At the same time you watch the replay and look at Ristolainen just watch Rinaldo go by him and tip it into the net and you wonder what in the hell he's thinking. If he skates with Rinaldo then he can probably get his stick in there to keep him from getting a good tip.
  22. You mean sports can be fun? C'mon. I love that this is a thing now for them.
  23. Some quotes from that article Regarding the pull-ups: On being second on the team in scoring (2G, 5A - 8 games) On being more like Jack Eichel after a poor performance: Regarding his hidden identity as a member of the Justice League: Love reading stuff like this.. thanks for sharing.
  24. Or you might say he just had a bad game... Because ROR was out there for the 70 or so seconds just prior to that when Arizona scored? The pulled the goalie with just over 2 minutes left and ROR was out there. They scored with 51 seconds left. Pominville has spent time as PK'er which is what a 6-5 is essentially and he has a ton of experience in high pressure situations so he's a stability factor. I think Eichel is out there because a single mistake by Arizona and he has the ability to put the game away even from 150 feet. I don't think he's overrated. Personally I think he believes he's supposed to be more than he is. At times I think he's trying too hard. It could be a case like Drew Doughty in LA where his minutes are just too high and it wears him down. However, to reduce his minutes you need better D depth which isn't there. It seems as though some of his defending went downhill when he decided he needed to be nastier in front of the net after whistles. To me, that's a sign he's trying to be more than he is. I think he'll come around but he's sure as hell not going to be a Lidstrom when it's all over. Which goals do you put on Lehner in this one? The first two are Ristolainen. The 4th was a nasty screen. A goaltender cannot overcome terrible defense. You hope for a few big saves (and we saw them last night) and for the rest you hope the D limits the quality of scoring opportunity ( we didn't see that last night). The goaltending isn't the issue. The defensive zone coverage is a much bigger issue at the moment.
  25. Ok. I don't need analysis. I need sleep. They fell apart at the end but held on. Glad Risto was stapled to the bench at the end. They need to learn how to calm themselves. Higher pressure forces them into mistakes which I think is a sign of them not having the system down yet.
