  1. WTF is going on? I just check the box score and the Sabres are both outshooting and out faceoffing the Habs. Cody McCormick leading the game with 3 shots. W. T. F.
  2. I would like to propose regular, scheduled relegation/promotion. Say, every 16 games (1/5th of a season), the bottom two teams from the CHL are relegated to the NHL and the top 2 teams from the NHL are promoted to the CHL.
  3. Great post ghost. It doesn't add up.
  4. You have to feed and bath Democrats. They're too lazy to do it themselves. Wait. Your talking about the kittens?
  5. d4rk, I want a corporate tax rate of 15%. I'll still vote for Democrats. I try to change them in the primary. I try to change America in November. I don't sleep well, but not because of that, mostly because of all the dead kittens hanging in my closet. I swear they can speak English after midnight.
  6. Something about bankers and gambling and other people's money etc etc etc....
  7. The House of Representatives is not competitive. Pennsylvania's districts do not provide better district level representation. Millions are nationally disenfranchised by it. It does provide for political consistency. Which certainly makes life easier for people who study politics. So there's that :)
  8. Country really likes Democrat Policy, but the most recent class of democrats in power have been absolutely terrible at running the government. Last night America said, "we'd like the GOP to implement moderate-liberal policies." 2016 will be about policy again because President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid won't be up for referendum. It's gonna be a bloodbath.
  9. Were there any tea party candidates that won primaries this year? Or did the more centrist establishment republicans win all the primaries?
  10. I have a cousin in Wisconsin, who sits well to the left of even me, and is absolutely losing his mind.
  11. It's gonna be a really good night for the GOP. They may well end up with 53 seats. I see NC, VA, OR, and HI, and NM left for the Dems. Orman will caucus with the GOP when they win. I knew I should have voted 3 or 4 more times like a good Democrat  It's all just temporary though. It'll be filibusters and vetoes for the next 2 years, then in 2016 the Senate is gonna be a slaughter for for the Republicans. Defending OH, PA, IL, WI, IA, FL, and NC. And if Landrieu loses tonight, LA might be in play then as well. Democrats will only be defending CO and NV.
  12. Cuomo wants to run for president. He will allow fracking by home rule. Each County will decide for themselves. The bigger challenge is that the bottom is falling out of the energy sector and frack wells in New York will not be profitable for a while.
  13. How do I have 3 wins? I had Peterson, Cruz, and now Foles...
  14. If McConnell and Boehner can keep the likes of Cruz and Issa in line, they could force the president to veto a couple dozen wildly popular bills with poison pills attached. Think tax cuts for the middle class with social services spending cuts attached. Or an exception to the minimum standards for Obama care. Or military benefit increases attached to EITC cuts.
  15. There will be no obstruction. We're looking at veto city for the next 2 years.
  16. Amazing.
  17. Lockout.
  18. Except in Wyoming...
  19. Voting districts are often constrained by geography rather than population. So urban stations may have 10,000 voters while the voting station in rural Pennsylvania may have 500 voters. (All numbers guesses)
  20. http://ballotpedia.org/State_Poll_Opening_and_Closing_Times_(2014) Voting times. Looks like most close 7pm, some even earlier. Seems silly, why not be open at least as long as the malls are on Black Friday?
  21. Voting in NY is a five minute process and the polls are open until 9pm. That is not the case in a lot of places. But holidays don't mean ######. I don't get half of them off. Polls should be open a minimum of 14 hours and there should be a $50 tax penalty if you fail to show up and sign the rolls (you don't need to actually make a choice, just show up). Australia does something like that and they get huge turnout.
  22. Democrats will learn to vote more than once every 4 years, or they will learn how to be the minority party in house forever. There is no in between on those two items.
  23. They had no choice. The GOP was never going to gain control again if they didn't reach out to the people that the Democrats parted ways with in 1964. When you absorb those people into your party, eventually you find yourself in this situation. Bending over backwards to keep reactionary nutjobs in your coalition. Barring a presidential resignation, the Democrats couldn't beat the GOP head to head in presidential elections for almost 30 years because they stopped bending over backwards for the South. And then once Gingrich figured out how to link in the Christian Right, The GOP was able to start taking control of congress, while further co-opting any remaining resemblance they had to the party of Lincoln, or the party the party of Nixon for that matter. The Republican Party today is a coalition of disparate groups whose ideas are often in open conflict with one another. The $$ comes from business who love government spending and don't give two @#$%s who marries who or how many abortions you got last week. The votes come from social conservatives who don't care what the money is doing as long as none of it is funding birth control or them lazy welfare queens. It's totally unsustainable.
