These next 7 games will tell us a lot about this team/coach

I feel the same. Frankly speaking, looking at it this way helps keep me sane in relation to this team. -

Updated chart after 2-0 win vs. Avalanche to not only compare vs. 2015 & 2016, but also show what current pace point total projects to (~90pts) and "win out". Obviously as the end points of the "win out" line get near the the "96 point pace" line, the faint playoff hopes become even fainter. -

Really enjoying not hearing Rob Ray drone on. I liked the line he just used "Gorges gives him no quarter." Nice! -

Gorges is gonna dominate a beer league soon -
I'll take that under advisement...thanks for the advice.

First time to ever click on this thread. There's something therapeutic about reading about other's woes. Would not have guessed that. I really don't feel like complaining today, however. Newly (re)married to a fantastic woman, job is OK, health is decent, kids are all more or less on track and healthy...life is good. This is a really sh***y first post for this thread.

I agree, not much difference. To me, that's 'what's there', I was looking for a difference and there is none. Eyeball test matters so that's why I am trying to find data to validate. I see it differently than you but am open to another viewpoint with confirming data. I did see some analysis (although I don't know about the veracity of the underlying data) awhile back that said Lehner was below average in save % in the 'tougher save' areas and had a disproportionate number of shots taken from 'easier save' areas, but I can't find that right now. That would be contrary to your thinking on this topic. I need to find that link... However I did find some numbers on face-offs. With Lehner in net the Sabres have 0.3569 defensive zone face-offs per minute. With Nilsson it's 0.2865. That is quite a difference. That could be interpreted different ways though.
-
Sabres allowing .5621 shots per minute in net with Lehner, allowing .5671 shots per minute with Nilsson in net. Based on the incremental 10 shots Lehner is supposedly giving up per game due to rebound control, would you have expected this to be reversed, and much more so?
-
To Lehner critics, the fact that he sometimes struggles with too many rebounds outweighs actual NHL results

Gonna pass on tonight's game. Spending some Valentine's Day time with the wife. Of course she may suggest to watch the game. There's a reason I married her!

Deadline Nearly Here! What is GMTM going to do?
TheAud replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I don't even want to think about that. -
Gorges is a disaster doing anything on offense

If D-Lo dresses tonight and we're down 2-1, at least.
-
I always thought of Tanev as the upgraded version of Pysyk. Sort of like a Lincoln to Pysyk's Ford.

There are 27 games left in the season and 8 more games until the trade deadline. To get to a 96 point pace season and be in the running for the last playoff spot, the Sabres would need to win 10 in a row at some point and play at a 96 point pace the other 17 games (i.e. 1.17 pts/game). Yeah, they're selling. The only reason the team is getting points at all right now is that Lehner is playing out of his mind and Kane has been a force. Beyond that, this team is getting absolutely buried in shots on goal and scoring chances game after game. For the season only Arizona has a worse shots for vs. shots against differential. It's disheartening. -
Great first! Off to Batman Lego movie with my 12 year old.
