  1. Only if we trade Miller and Stafford and/or Vanek. He'd be a useful vet who can be a teacher for 1.5 years and then we can trade him at the next next deadline for something. He can regain his value with Buffalo, and then go after a cup in his last 1 or 2 years. I would like more to have a very good mentor who can play D and O thus to teach Hodgson; but Briere at least can give us a far better powerplay at the very least, and will give us the best opportunity to see if Leino is worth anything. The only other player I want to resign who's older is Hecht, but only if it's a two way deal with him primarily playing in Rochester as a mentor.
  2. Ott's contract idea was just a shot in the dark. I have not the slightest idea what his rate will be. Briere can easily be replaced by another vet, it's more the idea than the player
  3. Here's my ideas: Send Miller to Calgary for their 1st Round Pick (Top 5) & a conditional 3rd rounder in 2014 if Miller resigns. Trade Vanek to the Avs/Jets/Blue Jackets for a 1st Rounder (Top 15 at least), 3rd rounder 2013, 2nd rounder 2014. Calgary will have 3 1sts if the Blues get to the playoffs, and the Blue Jackets have 3 as well so they would be the most likely suitors for a major 1st rounder trade. Calgary will need a goalie with Kippers retiring and they may be able to draw Lindy Ruff there lol. The 3 teams regarding Vanek, could all use a 2nd big goal scorer and have the potential for Top 15 picks. Then I send our 2 LA picks back to LA plus a 3rd rounder in 2014 if need be, for Bernier. That sets us up with at least 3 picks in the top 15, a new franchise goalie hopefully, and tons of cap room. If Philly buys out Briere, I'd offer him 3yrs for 11mil, seeing as we will need a veteran presence on the team; besides just Ott. Furthermore I'd sign Ott to a 5 year 19mil contract extension. Honestly, with 3 young guns (2 drafties and Armia) at very least skating around next year; the games will still be damn fun to watch. And who knows, we may even get into the playoffs considering the young talent we'd have. While I doubt we'd win the cup, just going to the 1st round and fighting hard would be a confidence booster for a team of youngsters.
  4. He may be interested in playing here, seeing as what appears to be his idol played in Buffalo. Not to mention the Sabres sorta started the whole the Russian to American exchange.
  5. Trade Vanek and Miller unless Vanek actually decides he wants to stay. If not, both could fetch us a pretty penny in the trade market. Miller could easily get whatever Gillis wants for Luongo, mainly because Miller's contract. Vanek is 40 goal scorer who's probably one of the best, in front of the net, in the league. Get a couple more 1st rounders, use the lowest ranked to get Bernier. (LA has no 1st rounder this year) 1st Rounder + a goalie prospect for Bernier should be enough. Then go hunting for a new rookie top line winger with our 1st round pick, and acquire a more seasoned winger with the 2nd lowest of the 4. The remaining 1st rounder get someone good. Get a 2nd rounder for Stafford, maybe a lower pick too. Now we also need at least a 2nd line RW (Flynn?)(Tropp?)(Early Armia?) Myers I'd keep unless a Western Conference team is willing to swap big named D guys Inquire on Tanev from Vancouver (What do you think he's worth?) Maybe go back after Regehr(Only if he hassn't moved his family) Resign Sulzer, if Pardy is willing to go at 1.5mil him too. If Hecht can be signed at 1mil again, and is able to be a 2 way contract, I'd sign him in order to help Rochester Winger(R/S)- Hodgson- Winger(R/S) Foligno - Ennis - ??? Ott - Grigorenko - Leino Kaleta - Porter - Tropp/Flynn Ehrhoff - Sulzer Myers? - Weber Pysyk - Regehr/Pardy/McNabb Bernier Enroth/Leggio
  6. I wouldn't trade Pommers to any divisional team, I'd try Columbus and try to get a 1st rounder and Ryan Murray
  7. I have 3 ideas what is going on: 1. Scott is playing, Adam extra forward 2. Adam is going to be traded 3. Pominville/Stafford is to be traded before the Penguins Game
  8. Pommers for 1st and Murray, is it possible?
  9. I would like to keep Vanek honestly, I have no interest in a 3+ year rebuild. All we need to do is get a new mix of players during the offseason to better compliment our new core, play next year through and judge what other changes we may need; then by year 2 we are back to being very competitive.
  10. What did Hodgson do wrong, or do you think it's still his skate causing trouble? Leino wants to keep his job, this year he has looked much better.
  11. As long as we don't trade Foligno, Ott, Hodgson, or Ehrhoff I be pretty fine with whatever the they do as long as the trades are good.
  12. The face palm was meant to be a sign of sarcasm lol
  13. Wow, we were right on par with Leo's trade value.
  14. Eklund  says Buffalo is in on Luongo
  15. Supposedly according to a Chicago follower the Sabres have talked with them about Stalberg and Bolland. In return they mentioned Ott, Foligno, and Regehr. Outside Regehr I'd say no way in hell.
  16. I love how as it happens you can just imagine their faces lighting up as redder than a stop light.
  17. Did you see him get that pretzel? It was a quite impressive feat of standing, wallet usage, and walking. In Tampa, I betcha he could literally have walked around in the halls without being recognized by a single concessions person or Tampa fan.
  18. What happened to Vanek, wasn't on the ice the remaining 15 min of the period, did I miss something?
  19. If he does, would he be allowed to play with them next year?
  20. Isn't there a way he can play with the Amerks during the playoffs this year?
  21. Regehr(50% cap), Leopold(35% cap), and Hecht for Stoll and a 3rd Rounder Then during the offseason we resign Regehr to a 3mil a year deal. Hecht, I'd also resign if its possible to give him a 2 way contract still. Because then he could play on 1st line in Rochester with Grigs and Armia.
  22. I wouldn't care what VAN offers for Ott, he's practically the only consistant player we have.
  23. Leino has definitely come back with vengence for his terrible play last year. Hodgson is on pace atm, to double his pts from last year (if it were an 82 game season) He may come close to tying his 83 game totals from last year though. He seems to suddenly have an urge to backcheck since that Carolina game; it's a sight to see. :w00t: Vanek was back. Ehrhoff seems to be getting the PP back alive. Ott needs a Admiral's cap for his commanding this ship around. Could Rolston's less complicated system be working for the better in the players' minds.
  24. Stafford is a healthy scratch for the Sabres tonight. Clowe is a healthy scratch for the Sharks Stafford & 5th Rounder (NJ) for Clowe and a 3rd/4th Rounder , The pick trade is a fill in for the goal dropoff between the two players. Plus, Regier said he's working on helping next year, so I would assume picks will be involved in most to all of our trades this year. Figure out a way to get Stoll too, then we could have a lockdown 3rd line of Ott-Stoll-Clowe
