I would of been willing, if we had our 3rd, to go up to the next level with 2 1sts and offer him 9.9mil with the same style of stacking bonuses. A 1-2 punch of Eichel and Aho would do damage
-
Hope not, we need teams around us to get weaker, not stronger
-
I want no part in Hoffman Trochek on the other hand would be a great target as he's coming off a somewhat down year with an injury.
-
How about a 2 year deal to help mentor Dahlin? Anything within 2 years is fine to me as Dahlin's contract will be after that.
-
I would of made that deal, a 1st is never something you turn down for paying 6mil in cap space for a year
-
Would #31, Nylander, and Girgs be enough for Collin Miller and Stastny and Reaves(Cap dump) maybe? It does take approx 12mil off their books a tad over 10 with a Girgs signing.

Your predictions: what is Botterill going to do?
thewookie1 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I wouldn’t trade Mitts for Cerelli straight up even; I can’t trust his stats on a juggernaut offensive team would translate to Buffalo. I have 0 interest in trading Risto in the division so that further puts the breaks on that trade in my opinion. My predictions: We trade Risto and Nylander to Vancouver for Virtanen, 10, a late pick in a year or two and Juolevi. That just sounds very Benning + Botts esc. C. Miller and Reaves/Clarkson for our 2020 2nd Scandella is sent somewhere for a 3rd in 2021 and a 4th this year. Sobotka is dealt for Callahan and a 4th -
I can’t believe I missed it lol

An article that was linked on the HFboards seemed useful to read https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/26141295/the-secret-carolina-hurricanes-goaltending-turnaround about our supposed new goalie coach and his philosophies. One thing I noticed is some of his answers sound like RK's
-
If we trade Risto, I'd be looking to acquire Colin Miller from Vegas; I'd even take Reaves' contract to reduce the cost. Miller isn't quite the pest Risto can be but does play a physical jack of all trades role. Reaves for 1 year to be our 12/13/14 forward would also technically fill that physical role we lose with Risto.

The 2019 Stanley Cup Final. St Louis vs Boston
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
To sum it up quickly: Cal O’Reilly was signed by the Sabres org to be an NHL/AHL tweener and was brought in when we signed RORs extension. COR was made captain of the Amerks and became Nylander’s host and mentor during his rookie year. Around the midway part of the season COR became unhappy and likely complained to GMTM and by March he was loaned to their rival, the Marlies. Supposedly his discontent also affected the rookie Nylander. I’ll look for the articles when I get home -
The 2019 Stanley Cup Final. St Louis vs Boston

Ryan is not at fault for Cal's actions; but it likely contributed to the overall relationship between ownership and him. That's something that always perplexed me about ROR; he seemed honest yet simultaneously he seemed to have a script as to his post-game feelings. At the end of the day, if you keep saying you need to be better; why didn't he ever get past what seemed to be the same issues? -

He quit on us by stating it to the media and with his brother’s escapades I’m unsurprised the Pegulas were hardly happy. Great player but for a guy who literally only gave cookie cutter answers in post games; his end of the year presser becomes unusual -
God they are nuts

I'd try Turris for Okposo, same cap hit, Turris has one more year on his contract but is about 1.5 years younger. He was great only a couple years ago and then hit a bunch of injuries. If he regains his form he'd be a perfect stopgap for Mitts and would be a solid 3rd line center in his 30's. If he continues to be banged up, we merely LTIR him.

Official: Skinner Signs 8 year, $72MM Extension
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Steep cost, but as long as he plays well for 5/6 years of it he'll be worth it for sure. -
If he wants more than 9mil per year then let him walk. I'm not letting a player hold us hostage. He's worth somewhere between 7 and 8.25 mil per based on his statistics and such. 8.5, ok.... 8.75, fine...... 9, grin and bare it...... 9+, no way in hell.
-
That’s a no from me, I don’t get all giddy about any prospect aside the top 2
-
I'd say no, I love Foote but we help Tampa way to much in this deal by bailing them out of cap hell and giving them Risto whom if traded I'd want as far away from Buffalo as possible.
-
How would Risto do as a RW?
-
Hell, some people I've seen on hfboards say that he was the best consistent US player

All of that show was to lead to this..... wow.... that's like a kick to the balls.

Official Ralph Krueger named Sabres Head Coach
thewookie1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
He's akin to Ted Nolan but seems far more sophisticated in his approach. He'll need an Xs and Os guy but he certainly strikes me as someone who can at very least reverse this ever somber franchise. -
Would a Top Free Agent Actually Sign Here?
thewookie1 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Skinner, Myers (if we even want him), Hayes/Lee “money talks,” Stralman (Dahlin + money), Dzingel (opportunity) -
Why does Buffalo always get screwed? Honestly, we have won one lottery and besides that have only ever had the worst possible scenarios play out practically. Burn in hell Dallas for failing us. I hope the Blues are wrecked in the conference finals.
