  1. I think they should keep the odds roughly the same but instead of just seeing who gets the number pick why don't they just pick 1-14? So the worst team gets 25 % of the cards in the hat, then the 2nd worst gets 18% or whatever. Then whatever team they pick out of the hat first gets the first pick, 2nd team gets second pick and so on. This way the worst teams still have a better chance of being towards the top but no one is guaranteed a top draft position
  2. i could see that whole side of the net open 2 seconds before he shot the puck…great shot, but i honestly would've been more surprised if he DIDNT score there. terrible positioning by enroth. being as small as he is doesn't help he needs to be nearly perfect in positioning
  3. wow…incredible improvement and incredible numbers for a defenseman. I am so excited for this kid, he just keeps getting better. I guess they weren't kidding when they said after they drafted him last year that he had some untapped offensive potential. Combine that with his defense, physicality and attitude, and we could be looking at something special in the future I should add that it has only been 19 games so its a small sample size, but if he somehow maintains that pace then that is very exciting
  4. With The islanders losing again, what do you do if you're the gm of that team? If u sell at the deadline, you risk being even worse and assuring yourself a top 5 or even a top 3 by the end of the year. But then you have to decide if you keep the pick or give it to the sabres. If u keep it, the risk is they are terrible again next year since they were sellers at the deadline, but their lottery pick is in the sabres hands for the eichel/mcdavid sweepstakes. While vanek is playing great for them, and they could probably trade him at the deadline if he won't sign an extension, I think in hindsight there's no way they would make that trade again
  5. Amazing performance... Plus the islanders lost tonight so it was a great night overall for tanktown
  6. Just a thought here, but is there any chance that the NHL expands to 32 teams in 2015, and if they did, how does that work for the draft? Main concern would be that it would be the most Buffalo thing in the world to be the worst team in the league next year by a wide margin, but then miss out on BOTH mcdavid and eichel because the league added two new teams and they get the #1 and #2 picks... Not sure if that's even possible, but man that would really grind my gears. And the nhl would love it as it sets up the 2 new franchises with definite franchise players to build around and would generate excitement
  7. The islanders are now the second worst team in hockey. WOW. poor vanek :P. We may actually see them defer, or end up with the top two picks in the draft which would be nuts
  8. Someone remind me why there is an NHL team in south Florida again? Disgraceful. @Proteautype: Nothing about this says warm. MT @GeorgeRichards Tuesday night warmups v Sens ...Empty even by #FlaPanthers standards http://t.co/s6ER6kxqaa
  9. So Baptiste, who has 38 pts in 28 games (1.36 pts a game) in the CHL, is only good for 32 pts over a full 82 game season in the NHL? Are there any players in the CHL who put up 3.48 pts a game which would equate to a point per game pace in the NHL? i thought baptiste was near the top but that may have been earlier in the year.
  10. @Buccigross: John Albert scores for Winnipeg. His alma mater losing to @umichhockey. Future Buffalo Sabre Cup winner @Jcomph7 has two goals in Columbus
  11. While this would be awesome, I view it slightly more pessimistically than you do. Islanders defer this year, and after losing Vanek, they continue to fall, finishing in last place next year. The sabres, while playing better, but losing Miller, struggle to win games again next year and secure 29 place. And then, in the most Buffalo thing ever, we still manage to lose the lottery, and to make it worse, the winner was the Bruins, leafs or sens, who had an off year and finished 17th, and for the next 15 years well have to watch McDavid tear out our hearts time and time again, as if it wasnt enough not to get him. ;)
  12. OOf. Cant believe he got up and tried skating it off before collapsing in pain. mustve been in shock. that should be a looonnngg recovery
  13. The real question here is whether or not the flyers coach will get fined for "player selection" by leaving emery on the ice to play goal.
  14. count me in as one who likes the trade as well...as long as we can either re-sign or trade moulson. well see, but i like the picks. terrible trade for the islanders IF vane flees to minny or elsewhere tho
  15. Yes. BUT we will lose the lottery to the 14th pick Boston Bruins who will get McDavid. and the conspiracy theories will rise. Cursed forever.
  16. wasnt chara traded twice? didnt he suck until he was like 26-27? serious questions, just asking, but I have not given up ALL hope yet. doesnt look good though
  17. The oilers have now given up 14 GOALS in only 8 periods of play! Continues to amaze me that they don't/can't find a real goaltender or defense after all these years. Would have to think they've inquired about miller if he's willing to go there
  18. Hard to argue with the ristolainen and zadorov picks with how theyve looked and how we needed defense, but this team is in dire need of a gamechanging forward, and honestly I think a top 5 pick is what is best for this team. Look how mackinnon, barkov, monahan are all playing and producing immediately. I was hoping grigorenko would provide that but it seems we will have to be very patient with him. But with that said, the constant mediocrity instead of very good or very bad, continues to hinder this franchise. They need a top 3 pick and a talented forward. kind of depressing we went on the run last year and as a result we just miss out on the top guys this year. How is the top tier of talent in the upcoming draft?
  19. isnt the OHL known for stronger defense than the Q too? pretty impressive building off his good camp in buffalo
  20. $1000 on Sabres. Go big or go home. No whammies, no whammies, STOP!
  21. I cant imagine.... he tells them NOW!? after the draft? after free agency? they could have possibly re-signed Clarkson with that money. boy did he screw them over. not to mention they lose their first round pick next year bc of his contract. theyve lost parise clarkson and now kovi and a 1st rd pick in a year. ouch
  22. guess this is the concern teams are having about Russian players...damn...kovy is probably an idol for a lot of the young russian players
  23. will darcy tell us this is the guy we targeted at 8 all along? AWESOME..129!%^!%@
  24. Supposedly LETANG rejected an 8 year 56million dollar offer from the pens. Wow. I wouldn't want him at that price let alone more
