  1. I agree with Inkman here. It's not being negative to think that Foligno, Stafford and Ennis won't continue on point/game rates. Ennis is clearly the best player of them all. He has a long ways to go to hit his peak. I once heard on CBC Hockey Night in Canada the intermission crew quote a league GM who compared Ennis to Pawel Datysuk offensively. Stafford is a streaky player. When he gets hot, he is a very good player, but when he's on his off nights, which last for quite awhile, he's not better then Erik Rasmussen. Foligno is what he is. A big dude, with some skill, huge heart and a drive to do whatever it takes to help the team. Confidence was as it is in all sports, was huge for him as he had a instant impact with the team. He's never dominated at any level offensively before. If it's OHL, World jrs, or AHL. It makes it hard to believe that he is a elite grinder at every level but in the NHL, highest level of all, he becomes a point/game guy, while throwing his body around. I don't see it. Ennis and Foligno are two of my favorite players on the team. I'm not dishing them because i don't like them. I just think that line will regress. Kind of like in our conference finals season where we lost to Carolina, our "best" line on paper was the third line, of Vanek/Roy/Afinogenov. People quickly forget Max lead that team in scoring. Top line was Hecht/Briere and second had Drury/Kotalik to take pressure off the 3rd line. Now, with tape on the Foligno/Ennis/Stafford line, and teams putting more of a point to contain them, they wont have the space as they did last season. I don't think Inkman has the "Buffalo feeling of always gloom and doom" but he's being realistic. I don't think he's mocking any of the players, atleast not from what i saw. He just isn't ready to be sold that these guys are as good as face of the franchise type. The type of run they were on last year was Malkin/Crosby like. While these guys are good players, and should help us win, they are worlds apart from that class. Thats not completely true. Ennis started season pointless in first 8 games. Then had 6pt in next 14 games. 6pt after 22 games played.
  2. ^^ Pretty cool ad.
  3. I heard he'll wear #28. Also, something pretty cool, according to Garth, John Scott grew up as a big Buffalo Sabres fan.
  4. How does one go from talking about Stafford into talking about getting rid of Ellis? Stafford is a player that needs to lead the team, that is counted for scoring goals and creating plays. Ellis is a expendable player, who is a nice bottom of the barrel role player. If he's "moved" its to Rochester. Of course it's easy to move Ellis. Ellis will get "moved" when Gerbe returns to the lineup im sure.
  5. Per Sylvester today, the 24th will be a home game. 25th on road.
  6. Those are not bad lines. Only problem is, it puts too much pressure on the top-6 forwards. Not sure how much the 3rd line can score. And we all know that 4th line won't be scoring at all. This is the opposite of a balanced attacked.
  7. Yeah i heard the firing had nothing to do with the Luongo trade. Leafs have new owners and a very corporate structure now. They run the Leafs just like any corporation runs it's business. Burke on the other hand is not very pro-corporations and didn't care much for the suits. He swore in his speeches in board meetings and swore in random e-mails when responding to board members inquires. They warned him a few times.
  8. Based on production, and what Lindy Ruff has said, i'd be beyond shocked if they split Vanek and Pominville up. Kevin Sylvester today made good points on lines- Vanek - Hodgson - Pominville Foligno - Ennis - Stafford Leino - Hecht - Ott Scott - Grigorenko - Kaleta (or Grigs on wing, Ellis at center) Grigorenko sees limited 5v5 time, but a lot of pp minutes.
  9. Too much. Way too much. Looks like a really great crowd, on and off the ice.
  10. They were too busy trailing Shane Doan all summer to worry about it.
  11. Heard he's going to get a chance to play with Henrik and Daniel Sedin this season.
  12. More on O'Rielly - Link-
  13. yup, send you a PM.
  14. Killing it. McDavid is a lock to be first overall in 2014. 18goals, 24ast, 42pts in 36 games. Ekbald - 5 goals, 15ast, 20pt in 31 games... is 6'3 already at his age. #2 pick lock in 2014.
  15. I doubt Whitmore has an out clause.
  16. Exactly. Colorado isn't really pleased with him by going over there and signing a 2 year deal. He's still there now and unless something drastic changes, he's not coming back for camp or even season. Usually guys like this are not available, but this is a different case. The relationship is broken, even if the money becomes right, its doubtful they can work things out. They need defense, i'm sure theres a deal to be made, essp if you add a guy like Luke Adam.
  17. Anyone selling?
  18. For a committed owner to buy the team and who will keep the team in Buffalo no matter what happens financially. Oh wait... I'll buy some stuff at 50% off and be happy with it. I'm already over the lockout. People boycott tickets and merch? Sweet, more opportunity for me to go, and more selection at the team shop.
  19. Is that what Mario Williams said... ?
  20. I was too young to remember the last time the league played a half season but comparing to the NBA who last year started off on Christmas, the start of the season was normal. Not much was off, but few weeks into the season, is when games got real sloppy. Lots of turnovers, ect. I expect the same will happen with NHL. Players are so amped up for the start that they'll play well, but they'll regress quickly.
  21. More Sabres schedule info per Andrew Peters-
  22. Exactly. Thanks for getting back on topic and for understanding my point. Seems it was missed.
  23. To add to my post- Link-
  24. I agree with Sabres fan in NS with Nathan MacKinnon. No knock on Jones, im sure he will be a heck of a player for a very long time, but MacKinnon has some Sidney Crosby comparisons in him. I'd take him 10 out of 10 times, These type of players win you Stanley Cups.
  25. From what i have heard- Sabres only east team off Jan 19th 20th- vs. Philadelphia 21st- @ Toronto 24/25th- home and home vs. Carolina to complete week 1 Source: Andrew Peters
