I just feel like it's easier to trade skaters then goalies. Trading for a legitimate #1 goalie, you're willing to accept that you're gonna add a pretty big circus to your team, and intensify expectations enormously. Not sure why any GM would be willing to do that and history of trading doesn't have too many examples of #1 goalies traded that later. Ken Wregget the last big name goalie to go that late? Chris Osgood to St Louis or is that not even big enough?

I'm sure (i hope) this thread was made as a joke, but the general idea is spot on. Tyler Myers is terrible. He's actually at a point where whenever he's on the ice, i just hope the shift doesn't end in a disaster. He spend most of the summer in Buffalo doing work and is supposed in his best shape of his life. And he's still brutal.

I wonder if there's a Beyond Blue&Gold "Making of the third jersey" edition, that the Sabres decided to secretly take the hit and throw it into the garbage after all the backlash? lol

The only trade i think the Sabres would make prior to the deadline is Miller. If they convince themselves they are going to a different direction, i think it's wiser to trade him sooner then later. I don't think teams are too open to making a massive overhaul that late in the season that brings in a big star and a goalie such as Ryan Miller to a team. If Miller is still here past January 1st, i am convinced he will either re-sign or walk. I'd almost bet anything that he'll be unmovable once the get into 2014.

From what i have read on twitter, Nurse played real well but the Oilers just didn't want to rush him too fast. I don't think sending him back to juniors is a knock on him nor do i think it makes Risto the better pick yet because he made the Sabres.

This topic isn't about Darcy hating on Canadian-born players, as much as it is avoiding the Canadian youth system in the draft. Myers fits into that for Canada. In any case, it's a total coincidence i think.

This can't be accurate. Mark Pysyk was our first round pick in 2010. Seven of our eight picks that draft were from Canada. Outside of the 25, Kassian was #1 in 2009, 4 of our 6 picks that year were also from Canada. 2008 was Myers #1 and Adam #2.

He's 27 but i don't buy it at all. So, you sign him to a 3 year deal, and more then likely, his only time he'll compete in the playoffs is in his UFA year? The kind of players the Sabres should be looking at bringing, are veterans who can help out the team, and keep moral pretty level if the team goes on slumps. High charachter guys who may not be very well wanted in the league anymore but want to keep playing... guys like Brandon Morrow, Dustin Penner or Milan Hejduk. Fill the rest with kids. lol

It is early and some things may change, but i have a hard time believing this stance will change for the Sabres: Sam Reinhart or Leon Draisaitl or bust. Draisaitl

Not sure why Brunner would want to come here, unless we offer him something like $12 million over 3 seasons and i highly doubt we would do something like that. Brunner is a nice player, could make decent $$ in Europe, but came over to play for a winner and compete for the Cup and to get to play in bigger games.
